When I was first given this book (I'm a freshman by the way) I found it extremely difficult and annoying to read. You made it so much better and easier to understand and now I'm glad I got to enjoy this amazing story. Thanks a bunch!

A senior in college here! I'll be student teaching next semester, and these videos help me so much! I'm reading 4 books at once and can't seem to get ahead at all; these videos help me fly through the epic while understanding the story a lot better. Thank you times a million!

Are you sure a proper burial is necessary for admittance to the underworld? Remember Elpenor, the first to greet Odysseus in the underworld (Book 11:55-90). He is already in the underworld and yet, no burial. By the way, thanks for posting this online. I have enjoyed listening.

Right. Elpenor is there, but he's restless. He will not be able to rest until he is buried. He requests that Odysseus return to Aeaea and give him the proper burial so that he may fully be in the Underworld. He even goes so far as to threaten Odysseus if he doesn't do it, so it's imperative for Elpenor and his eternal future to be buried properly. From University of Pennsylvania: The Greeks regarded the burial of the dead as one of the most sacred duties. Its neglect involved an offence against the dead ; for, according to the popular belief, the soul obtained no rest in the realms of the dead, so long as the body remained unburied. Hope this helps to clarify.
      Thanks for watching!
