- Hidden in the backwoods of Angelholm Sweden, Koenigsegg is designing and manufacturing some of the rarest and most exotic vehicles on the planet. Headed by inventor and entrepreneur Christian von Koenigsegg, the car manufacturer is also developing leading engine and fuel technologies aimed at improving fuel economy and power output in all types of vehicles. In this video, J.F. Musial tours the factory on a former Swedish Airbase while taking a ride in an Agera R on foggy runway.

Christian Von Koenigsegg and Horacio Pagani are among my automotive heroes. :-)
Chilli Bongo KING They're completely different...
Paganissime
true, but they sare both independents who rose up to challenge and in some cases surpass the big companies and also became legends in their own life time.
James Williams 777 They have super different points of views concerning automotive. Fundamentaly different philosophies as well. But no one can say what would happen :)
Paganissime
very true, but their innovation of carbon fiber is very world class, paganis carbotanium and koenigseggs tub design and construction would make for an extremely safe and rigid car. we can dream i suppose :-)
Dreaming is a good thing ;)
That ghost story just gave me the chills man!! Massive respect to Christian for honoring the squadron.
same here, such a beautiful thing to do to honour the history of the facility and the country in which the cars are built.
Yeah Massive respect you're not only buying a supercar you're also buying a legacy
which part(time) of the video does he talk about that?
At the very end of the video pretty much, probably the last few minutes
Me too
the passion and engineering that goes into this car is unbelievable. one of the best cars in the world
THE best
IN MY ASS!!!🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻👊🏻
There is NO car or car maker that has ever set this type of revolutionary standard in supercars like Koenigsegg. All hail the king!!
+Shawn C pagani is close, but it is true, koenigsegg is the pinnacle of perfection.
+Dallin Carpenter +Shawn C Do you seriously believe Koenigsegg with workers not more than 12 is better than huge companies like Porsche, Mclaren or Ferrari with more than 350 workers and bigger budget for research purpose? Very funny. There is nothing new in eggs cars that has not been done before.
Teusin Aerkin If you believe that, then you don't know cars at all. Koenigsegg OWNS the market on tech innovation, world's fastest production car, fastest lap speed on the Nürburgring, Spa FrancorChamps as well as most horsepower out of a standard V8 with the One:1. It's obvious that you know 0 about hypercars.
+Teusin Aerkin thats a fair point but you have to remember that those companies are building to make money most of the time, and while yes they have some fantastic innovations themselves, a small company has more wiggle room for creativity, not needing to really appeal to anyone, but of course it does lol
+Shawn C dude, Robert Serwanski is a god. I pray to him every day
It is good to see a car company that still builds their cars with passion! Thats something people don't value these days.
I really like the story behind the whole "Ghost" thing.
I know right! I was astound about the "Ghost" logo because in my first thought, this logo come from their first factory that got burned down, but then when, I watch this short Interview, it was a Ghost Squadron. "The Show Must Go On"
That is what makes this car so very special. Thus i love it
Your fkning idiot
Ritchii Studiio Get a life, and stop complaining about others
Ricky Smits *drops thank you GIF here*
The Ghost Squadron was very nice, I love how they respected that tradition. Kudos to you Koenigsegg, great engineering and spirit.
Yes, that is such a cool thing... Koenigsegg is my favorite hypercar company, and the Agera R is one of the best looking cars in the world imo. I wish I could have one of my own :( If I ever won the lottery, I would spend my money very intelligently, but about 10m would go to crazy stuff, and the Agera R would be at the tippy top of that list, along with an r33 GTR Nur Vspec Skyline.
If I had the money, I would buy a Koenigsegg in a heartbeat. When you have a CEO with that much concideration for tradition and as humble as he is, I would want him to build my car.
"The show must go on."
-Koenigsegg, 2012
This is the video I watched roughly 4 years ago that started my love for Koenigsegg.
Im from sweden!
Same here! I come back and watch it at times, great video.
Same here. Dude is a massive inspiration to me. Love his attitude for the cars and how he presents himself
I think the stig got me into them 😂😂
TURD!!!!🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻👊🏻
COOLEST SMARTEST GUY EVER. HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE THE GUY
His story is a fairytale. It cant be anymore perfect. There is even a fire that they rise from and become even better. Awesome.
The story behind the ghost symbol really gives me goosebumps. Almost got me in tears right there. Carry on Koenigsegg! ♥️
What people don't know is that Christians head is actually made out of the same carbon fibre as his cars. Very impressive "shiny egg" paint job on it too. Fantastic work.

Reminds me of Ernst Stavro Blofeld (turned good, obviously) :)
The Soothsayer42 it's a joke u dip
is it tuned?
Why are you sad over a joke?
the whole ghosts story makes me proud to be swedish, honestly.
even though I'm not a car enthusiast I still have to say that Christian von Koeningsegg is one of my heroes.
update: I'm a car enthusiast now
RIP your bank account
Me too - although I am only half Swedish.
ÅH FAAN!!!🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻👊🏻
Absolutely love the story about the ghost squadron!
Fatal_Inertia probably one of my all time favourite stories to come from the car industry!
SMURF!!!🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻👊🏻👀🐽🥺🤪🦶🏻
This isn't just making car, this is creating mechanical art. It's epic.
And the Ghost Squadron symbol, that is very cool.
I agree 100%
***** that a fact
It relates also to the Ferrari prancing horse. Enzo Ferrari was asked by Countess Paolina, the mother of Italian WW1 fighter ace Count Francesco Baracca, to paint his personal aircraft marking on Ferrari's cars as a good luck symbol. This was originally a red horse on a yellow shield, but Ferrari changed it to a black horse.
The ghost mark comes from a swedish fighter jet
You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!This is a LEGENDARY HYPERCAR!!!
Holy shit..I'm more and more impressed with Koenigsegg every time I hear or see something about this company...that guy is so inspiring, and so passionate about his cars, that's it's almost unbelievable. Wonderful video, and what an incredible in depth tour. Not once was I bored by the numbers, just in awe.
My respect for Christian von koenigsegg is boundless.
cool ending about the ghost squadron
What a CAR !!!!! So Amazing !
Un mostro!!!
Davvero un mostro...un missile terra-terra

SMURF!!!🖕🏻🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻👊🏻
i cant ever get tired of listening to mr. koenigsegg wisdom
Just incredible. I am speechless after watching and listening to this man speak. Hell, half of what he said makes no sense to me yet I am just captivated by the sheer mountain of innovation and passion .
I would honestly not even glance at Ferrari or Bugatti after this if I had the money.
I bet if you met the people that make those cars they would be exactly the same as this guy, you don't make these kind of cars without some serious passion.
It's crazy people like him that make interesting things happen. Everyone else says, "Oh, creating a car company and becoming #1? Never happen, why bother." This is proof that determination and effort can make amazing things happen.
I feel the exact same way. Honestly, I couldn't have said it any better!
SMURF!!!🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻👊🏻
Koenigsegg revolutionized the hypercar industry.
I am in complete and utter awe of this gentleman. It is obvious he's not just a passionate gear head, but a truly gifted mechanical engineer. Guys like him, Elon Musk, and Horacio Pagani really push the envelope and show the infinite capacity of the human mind. I doff my hat to you, Sir
One of the best episodes of an automotive show ever. It is fascinating to hear from auto founders. This and the the episode with Singer Porsche founder are two of my all-time favorites. You guys need to do more episodes like these.
Christian's pretty inspiring. Starting a high end super car company at 22 with so much attention to detail and genius ideas, much respect for him.
I find it quite amusing how a guy who is so calm and composed is responsible for some of the most insane and terrifyingly fast cars ever made! The exact opposite of what you would expect. I like how civility and pragmatism can go hand in hand with flamboyance and hedonism.
He´s swedish lol
well put
soundseeker63
And he drives a Tesla!
I mean Yeah he obviously can't afford one of these cars so..
mind blowing how much engineering goes into all of Koenigsegg's cars...I am in complete and utter awe.... simply the greatest engineered cars ever.
The show must go on...
It's videos like these that make me want to change my major from Computer Engineering to something that has to do with Automotive!!!
a lot of newer cars utilize computers
you could probably design one- efficiency, power, and so on and so forth
Get both, nothing worst than living with regrets.
The ghost story gave me goosebump
Christian seems like the coolest, most honest, and laid back CEO I've ever seen - a really genuine guy. Take notes Mr Musk.
They should make a car named Koenigsegg Ghost with that story!
SevenChordsOfficial yeah, like the rolls? smh
So fresh, open and welcoming. So transparent and friendly, no- "Oh that's a secret." He is the ideal spokesman for his company and how nice an excellent command of the english language. Two thumbs way up from Me! I wish I could get his opinion of the Saab situation.
The faces J.F. makes between 18:30 and 19:30 are PRICELESS!!!!! A mix of scared shitless and absolutely thrilled! =O
That story about the ghost thing is amazing, i love it when there's a story behind things like that, and the ghost logo looks pretty awesome too! i hope they never get rid of it, it gives their cars a special feel to it
hes willing to lay all out for the public and on a utube video nontheless wheras other companies like ferrari, mclaren, bugatti etc hide everything as much as possible.
christian knows he makes the best hypercars on the planet and has nothing to hide.
plus ppl learn alot from videos like these.
REGERA, ONE:1, AGERA RS, AGERA R, CCXR
other companies have no chance
McLaren doesn't hide everything
They all do in the end, once koenigsegge gets as bigs as those other companies and Christian takes a back seat which will happen the older he gets, top executives and those type will eventually shut the mains doors as well, company secrets, techniques, designs will all end up valuable in their own rights and will need protecting, all the big boys end up like that in the end.
'Plane' not planet, just saying!
And now the jesko
These guys are crazy. 300 km/h with a mere 20 or 30 metres of visibility? Madness
+Gamal Trinidad Kabil the testguy problably knows the track like his little finger.
TheOneAndOnlyHD Yeah, but it wouldn't be worth it risking so much money... More than a million dollars probably
+Gamal Trinidad Kabil he was testing I his own track which he knows every inch
WTF???🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻👊🏻
Wow. What a respectful founder and what a neat company
Christian is obviously an automotive genius/visionary.
His attention to form, function and detail is exquisite.
Awesome insider video from /DRIVE
Respect.
Everything about this company is so breathtaking. Let the show go on.
what a man, the type of guy i can sit and have a coffee with and just talk about cars.
i loved the ending story omg! that shit was awesome
If there was a full length film about koenigsegg, it would probably sell out in millions. i'll be one buying a ticket. And a DVD BD for shure!
This guy really impressed me , I love the history and the fact that one man's vision created all of this .
I love the hosts face when the the test drivers cornering LOL,pure disbelief :)
Seriously! My face would be like that as well had I been driving around in a car of that magnitude!
I'd probably have a similar look just standing next to the darn thing.
SMUTS!!!🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻👊🏻
I like that they're continuing the tradition of the ghost. I bet those who served in that unit would be proud to have their insignia on such powerful & beautiful cars.
such a quality business they are running here. smooth, and expertly produced. amazing. and christian is such a friendly and personable guy. this is 50% of the reason koenigsegg remains my favorite car manufaturer. the other 50% is the agera r :]
I honestly don't care what car has the speed record, this car is an impeccable piece if mechanical perfection& beauty! Plus, the Veyron barely outperforms the Agera R, and it has 8 more cylinders, 2 more turbochargers, is all wheel drive, and has an engine that is about 185 cubic inches bigger. Koenigsegg has nothing to be ashamed of whatsoever.
I heard that the Veyron's speedometer was showing false speeds and it's not going 400+ km/h as it was shown on the nurburgring. It was a publicitystunt... apparently. But that's just what i heard, probably true tho.
So this Swedish car is currently the worlds fastest productioncar.
The Veyron doesn't even out perform the Agera R.
AntWasHere46 and on top of that, there is the new Agera:one...megawatt of power..."megacar" if you want to look at it like that, and it does 290+,single input 7 speed trans
Koenigsegg really shows that less is more. Take the new Chiron for example. 4 turbochargers, 16 cylinders, 8.0 L, 488 CU IN, awd, 2.5 tons. The One:1? 1,360 hp, 1.5 tons 5.0 L V8, flex fuel, 2 turbochargers and yet is still faster than the Chiron.
please... stop.... saying..... 'agera one:1' its just One:1
This video was created back in 2012, when Koenigsegg was still developing One:1 Megacar. Great video and very informative about Koenigsegg Group.
The Koenigsegg cars are very impressive up close. I have had the pleasure of being in a few.
I just cannot stop coming back to this video and seeing it over and over again. I admire this car, this brand and last but not least Christian's commitment and devotion.
Gotta admit...... Koenigsegg and Pagani are my all time favorite. Just imagine Huracio Pagani and Koenigsegg working together to produce one of a kind Hyper Car?? #Salute
I would die a happy man if that happened
i like the Zonda. it was a beautiful car but the huayra is just plump
ohhh i would like to see Ferrari's face if that happened..
FTW!!!🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻👊🏻
In years to come i can see koenigsegg at the top, the inevations and technology here is amazing. Now they have the One:1 I really do hope it reaches 273mph.
Not sure about that , I've seen no significant laptimes and how can this tiny company have the technology like mclaren and ferrari with their formula one knowledge , I've only seen top speeds and acceleration from koenigsegg
paul hyatt We'll have to wait and see, thats what i meant by years to come. Once the companys grown who knows. The one:1 is a proper motor though, no denying that. If its anything like the P1, la ferrari and the 918 I'd say theres big things to come from this company in the future.
Sure Koenigsegg doesn't have the pedigree of Ferrari or McLaren but they sure do have the chance of becoming a much larger and more advance company now they are being noticed by the world. They have got our attention, now they will do some more hardcore shit like the One:1.
***** It simply cannot compete with the likes of Ferrari, Mclaren, and Porsche. It is such a small company they can't even afford to build a car to let editors do tests etc, so we know how truly fast it is. All we know is that it's fast in a straight line. I mean even Bugatti got a great lap time around the Top Gear track. I think Koenigsegg makes cool cars, but the lack of any concrete testing makes me not care too much about it. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Mclaren, could all do the exact same things that Koenigsegg does with their cars, hell, Ford, GM, Dodge, Honda, Mazda, etc etc etc, could all make the same modifications to their cars.
The end result of all that is that the cost of the car goes up, while the number of sales goes down. Not only the cost to the customer but the cost to build it. Lamborghini could make an all carbon Aventador with a dual clutch with 800hp etc, but it would likely cost them so much more to build, it would probably more than double in price for the consumer. Koenigsegg does create very fast cars, but the technology used is nothing new. Ferrari's hykers system is new, it used to be only in F1 cars, now its in a road car. The porsche and the P1 can run electric, and the electric motors add a lot of torque and low end power where before it might have been a top end motor. That is new technology.
All the same, I wish this guy and his company the best. I can't wait for the new Bugatti personally. If they make a 1300hp car with awd, fast dual clutch, and LIGHT, nothing will be able to catch it from a dig save insanely tuned cars like the TT gallardos and GTR's.
sexyitalian891 Well obviously it can. They've been around for 20 years. They seem to sell what they make even if it is even more than other companies. Obviously there is a market for it. One of the CCX's was tested on top gear around the track so I don't know where your getting this idea that they are just a straight line car. I don't think you are making very logical arguments.
I love the attention to detail and overworked modern engineering perfection that is this car. I like how they do everything in-house to see that it's done right. As an engineer, this car really appeals to me from the elegance of design alone; I'm sure driving it would be another experience...
The guy gave an awesome tour. I couldn't imagine most supercar company owners being that pleasant and informative.
Really amazing how far they came. The technology is amazing as well. Well done!
And the show does indeed go on.
amazing build quality and engineering and a real down to earth owner, respect
Love how open koenigsegg are with how their car works. Absolute love to watch and what a legend
Mr. Von Koenigsegg is an amazing man. A genius with gobs of passion and an unparalleled vision. My hat is off to you, kind sir! Too bad the cars are so rare - I have seen quite a few supercars and a couple of hypercars in real life... but never a Koenigsegg.
Koenigsegg agera r is my dream hypercar and koenigsegg is one of the best hypercar manufacturer in the world
A amazing car, a amazing backstory, a amazing man.
Koenigsegg is ultimate.
The passion just keeps shining through in each and every video he is in...
Only one word....IMPRESSIVE
Love watching this
Amazing car and for it in my favorite color!
It really is outstanding car it more than what I've though
Seth Reeves A veyron .... Cute, wait until you see one:1
Already did and new veyron going to faster
Seth Reeves Theres not going to be a new veyron
The pride of Swedish engineering along with Ohlins, awesome stuff
I just developed a whole new level of respect for Koenigsegg WOW!!!
Watching christian and horacio eating together will give me chills
WEY! I CAN´T SEE A GOD DAMN THING ON THE TRACK AND THE BRUH JUST KEEPS GOING FASTER
This guy is so inspiring this is what I could see myself doing after I leave school
wow. for such a magnificent company.. and never forgetting people with great History.. such as the GHOST SQAUDRON.. is something.... GREAT RESPECT to you Mr. CHRISTIAN VON KEONIGSEGG..... your a goodMan.. and the way you entertaines your Guest... is a TradeMark of Good Business.... More Power.... i want the. 1:1. pls.... hahahah
That was awesome, no limit car manufacturing!
huge new found respect for Koenigsegg and its workers
Koenigsegg is my favorite super car/car manufacturer. Their innovation is amazing. I cant stop watching!
The interviewer was completely out of his league.
COULDNT FUCKN AGREE MORE.. what happened to the one who actually knows his shit
o
I know right? All he said was "uhu", while having his hands in his pockets.
mhm
Agreed.. However, it did give a 'real world' view of the average person getting the same treatment and responses. Yeah, he probably belongs at a Honda meet, but he probably reacted just as you or I would've..
I totally admire people like Christian Koenigsegg for having a dream and make it come true. I feel a bit jealous too but in a good way lol.
The interviewer did not seem right for the job, awkward and unknowledgeable.... but the description was from the guy was incredible! I never expected to see everything about this car or their design process. I'd love a tour of the plant or, of course, one of those cars.
I didn't know that Knsggs had all this work behind, the founder seems like a pretty good person and so clever.
Von Koenigsegg and Horacio Pagani should collab and make a Pagani/Koenigsegg Xgera F
+HanislipxBadsinatra Or Peganigsegg lol
That actually sounds cool
+HanislipxBadsinatra Na pagani makes real cars that are sold and driven (to the max), christian makes understearing tracktion lacking power boats
good argument, show me one proper koenigsegg movie that is not a dragrace in scandanavia
+Yerrie Cause... movies are citations?
Koenigsegg my favorite cars
Thanks a lot for the video. Really nice. Makes me proud to be from Sweden. :)
The owner's knowledge and passion for his car makes me love and appreciate it even more. Well done sir
11:36 Audi R8, what are you doing here?
That's absolutely normal to have some cars of competitors available, even if you don't want to copy anything. Maybe they use the R8 as a benchmark, simply to realize where you can improve something. Maybe they use it to test components. Damaging an R8 because one of your new carbon fibre wheels breaks is comparable cheap if ruining an Agera R or your One:1 prototype is the alternative.
Maybe putting Koenigsegg engine and shit in it or something????????? Idk thats a good question.
may be the car is of working staff in there factory for tuning or servicing
DYNGA!?!🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻
I am really excited for Koenigsegg's new valve tech, which is electronic actuated valves.
What this means no cams, and far greater variation in valve duration and lift. These are the future of internal combustion engines, and we've already been waiting too long for them.
Uh, well, Fiat launched their MultiAir engine in 2010. The intake valves are independently actuated. No camshaft. They spent about 10 years developign it, and you can get it in cars costing less than a single Agera wheel (I think) ;)
twauster
I'm didn't know about MultiAir, and I'm impressed. But according to wikipedia the MultiAir engines are not camless. It sounds like the solenoid just helps increase lift and durtation.
True camless solenoid controlled valves are the next (and perhaps final) step in internal combustion engines.
Beautifully made video.
Never thought I could love a car company this much.
i'm repeatedly amazed by the scandinavian's ability to speak english. he sounds like a native speaker to me. incredible...
21:38 the grin you have when you know your a genius lol
"oh the triplex suspension? this little old thing? just a little do-hickey i came up with one night when i was home bored"
Koenigsegg: oh the triplex suspension? oh i was bored one night and i made an algorithm to make this. and then i fused it with f1 suspension got some f1 tires. then i changed my drivetrain to rwd instead of awd and shaved off 789 lbs along with a new intercooler, air filter, cams and valves, a new flywheel and then i added some turbochargers and i was done!
Me: can you say that again please?
CRAP!!!🖕🏻🤟🏻👎🏻👈🏻👊🏻
Thank you for not ruin the video with music. Very good camera work. Christian explain everything so easy and understandable.
One day people will talk about Robert Serwanski with the same reverence and respect as they do about Valentino Balboni.
I beleive Koenigsegg will be the first car company to build a car that will go over 300 mph. I will buy that car one day.
I call shotgun (if there is One)
Hennessey Venom F5? Anyone? No?
No one can't make me believe this car is 9 years old.
I have tremendous admiration for Christian Von K. To be so intelligent, energetic and accomplished and yet seem so modest. Men like this make the world a better place.
what is that audi R8 doing in koenigsegg facility??
Kevin Hermanto I was just thinking that. I saw that nose sticking out among the Koenigseggs as well.
Kevin Hermanto Test car i'd imagine. The R8 offers a very good base to test certain components.
+Kevin Hermanto AUDI SPY!!!
+Kevin Hermanto someone prolly payed to park it there so they'd have something interesting to say when someone asks them about their audi...
They did say they would build you a helicopter for enough money, maybe someone payed them enough to modify the audi. *Tuned by Koenigsegg*
lol at intro "welcome to Angelholm Sweden about a hour north of copenhagen" which is true but i get the sense the guy doesn't realise Copenhagen is in denmark
1 big difference, Pagani let Harris drive the car, Koenigsegg never lets anyone drive the car, it's a drag racer for your showroom
Guess you have to visit Jay Leno's garage to see him drive one.
Because they are all privately own. They would need permission from the owner of the vehicle
Well if you're rich enough to rent one, he would let you test it.
I love the story about the ghost. Its small touches like that, that keep a company humble and on top.
Jee.. Welcome to sweden..
The R8 in the shop must be the company's taxi..
