John's entire life was turbulent. He never found the happiness he was looking for.

I think he did find true happiness in his last few years. That's what compounds the tragedy of his murder.

i really feel he was a tortured soul who got to experience this brief, yet totally unique and ecstatic fever dream of a life. becoming that famous that early, feeling so many huge historical moments flowing around in a constant and widely ranging flux of mental states (due to drungs but also the high of everyone on earth looking at you lovingly at the same time for years), the troubles in his family life. i myself lead a normcore boring life but i still find it hopelessly complex and surprising- i can't imagine how surreal his life experience must have been.

hitting fame and success early in life isnt bad within itself.
Imo, hardships are inevitable regardless of what age you face them.
That being said, I wouldnt want to be in Lennon's shoes.
Also, boring and anonymity is good .
Most people are too obsessed with wanting to "change the world".

I could never understand why he would want to be with Yoko Ono. But, now it is understandable knowing his Aunt Mimi was abusive just like Yoko was.

John himself (in many interviews) claimed that by that time was well into his "1000" LSD trips. I did 500 by the time I was 18. I met strange people and things too!

Good. It would’ve been nice to hear more about when John’s mother reentered his life as a teenager.

That whole scenario with the dentist dropping acid in their drinks really bothered me. I have tried LSD in my life and it really has to be structured and the environment has to be comfortable and familiar or there could be so many brutal consequences. That could of ended one or all of their lives had the driver been tripping and swerved off a cliff or into someone or something.

    • @skinovtheperineum1208
      @skinovtheperineum1208 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It's actually 'could have', not could of, which you should know at this late stage of your life.

Thats why Brian Wilson ended up spiritually crippled for most of his life.
LSD didnt ruin him. His vulnerability and angst along with LSD did that.
If Brian didnt do drugs, he wouldve burned out only a few years later than expected.
Its funny how adults criminalise video games yet theyre fine with LSD.

it was known that john when in the company of others would never permit anyone to talk badly of paul, only he reserved the right. there's also a legend when jerry lee lewis was performing at the roxy in la during john's lost weekend, jerry was gathered post show in the dressing room yapping with some friends when all of a sudden the door opened, john entered without saying a word, kneeled at jerry's feet, kissed them, got up and then exited. jerry was clueless who the stranger was but a friend revealed it was john.

I've been a Classic Rock fan since I was a boy and the music has had a powerful impact on my life. I've purchased my share of albums, attended hundreds of Rock concerts and read many, many books pertaining to the various bands I've enjoyed over the years. Having said that, no band has ever brought me more joy than The Beatles. Thanks to content creators such as "Film Retrospective", I am able to learn much more about The Beatles than I ever thought possible. Discovering the details of the band, their music production process, their inter-relationships, their personal lives, the deconstruction of the songs, the interviews, along with all the other minutiae that might get overlooked, it's all part of The Beatles experience. Your documentaries, sir, are remarkable. Well researched and written into a tight script each video is a wealth of knowledge and your narration matches the no-nonsense content perfectly. I have been looking forward to each new video you post since subscribing several months ago. From one Beatles fan to another thank you for the hard work you put into your content, it is greatly appreciated.

One fact to correct - Brian died in 67 and the Beatles were in India in 68. They were going to hear him talk and he did advise them however. John should have known right there and then that something was up.

I always found that dentist story strange. First of all, who goes to their dentist for dinner? Second, what dentist spikes his guests tea with LSD? Isn’t that a serious crime lol

I think early 1967 was one of Lennon's most turbulent years. Specifically the sgt pepper era. His LSD use was very heavy during that time from what I've read and I'm surprised he didn't lose his grip on reality and become an acid casualty like some of his contemporaries. Every picture I've seen myself of Lennon from the Sgt Pepper period looks as if he's tripping.
