Saw Night of the creeps in the theater & they handed out surgical mask's that said don't scream! I wish I still had it! Nemesis is a must see! Class of Nukem' high is classic Troma goodness!
Night of the Creeps is one of my favorite B movies. It is so inventive and a totally enjoyable, tongue-in-cheek comic horror flick from beginning to end.
Night of the Creeps is one of my all time favourite movies in any genre. I don't know if it counts as a B movie though, it had almost the same budget as The Terminator.
Nice to see Maniac Cop on the list. I became friends with actor Robert Z'Dar during the last several years of his life, so I hope if they eventually do remake Maniac Cop they give him a nod or a tribute since he was in all three movies as the character.
Last I heard HBO was trying to turn it into a series. I would be surprised if it actually happened, but would love to see more from the franchise. Maniac Cop 3 was pretty terrible. The franchise deserves to go out on a high note!
Street Trash had great effects for that time. Nemesis is great too. Its sequels suck but the first movie is great. I remember the Trancers series - fun and entertaining. The Nest was interesting and I always re-watch the Maniac Cop trilogy.
All "Night of the" movies are pretty great if you ask me. Night of the Creeps, Night of the Living Dead, Night of the Demons, Night of the Comet all fit in this category too. They all have some variation of zombies or undead creatures in them also.
He was great in Halloween 3 season of the witch! Great flick but should of never been named Halloween3! " 8 more days till Halloween , Halloween , 8 more days till Halloween Silver Shamrock!"
Jamal Vargas+ I never heard of "The Last Dragon" until this year and Despite being made in the 80's I still loved it. Not that I hate 80s movies, but most of them were low quality, but The Last Dragon was Fantastic and has aged well.
You missed a diamond-in-the-rough by the name of "The Hidden" from 1987. It stars Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Nouri, Claudia Christian, Clu Gulager, and more notable actors. There was a "Hidden 2", but it turned out to be as lame as pre-damp toilet paper.
Here's another gem I've found: Bells of Coronado, a 1950 film released by Republic Pictures (which sadly is no longer active) that had cowboys in the then-present setting taking on outlaws trying to steal uranium from a mine and smuggle it out to Communist governments in Asia (rather timely considering that same year, the Korean War broke out). At first, one would think the plot absurd and illogical, but the writers did such a good job with creativity and logical situations that suddenly it becomes a reasonable story. It's one of the most unusual stories I've ever seen in a movie, but it's now in my opinion one of the most underrated I've ever seen. Some rather big western actors are in it: Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Pat Brady, among others.
I had just finished reading William Gibson’s Cyberspace trilogy when I first saw Nemesis on vhs in the 90’s. It was fantastic for its budget and cast. Wish more films could capture that cyberpunk feel. Never saw the sequels.
An excellent list of great B Movies of the 80s and 90s. Though try and show some of the 50s or early 60s such as Creature from the Haunted Sea and Little Shop of Horrors, the original not the remake. Take care and stay well.
There was a time in my youth when watching sci-fi and horror B flicks was my main past time, I was very passionate about it. I still watch them occasionally but I'm more into quality scifi these days. This said, I think I missed a couple of these, since 20 years ago wasn't as easy as it is today to source this material here in Europe, the internet made the foreign catalog searching and long phone calls with distributors a thing of the past, I don't think kids today realize how easy they have it, I'm personally very grateful for the "found in two clicks" modern thech, and of course thanks for the list. My thought exactly. Belial tossing out the bread from the burgers and just eating the meat. Don't know how they got any sequels to it but they did. Loved the first one.
Maniac Cop is ok but 2 and 3 are actually far better. The original Nemisis is great (partly because of the action but also its' Blade Runner style musings by the characters) but the sequels are also interesting.
