Wow. We carried my mother out to this song. Though there was definitely alt of tears and grief , she was beautiful as ever and def wanted us to live while we could and sing our hearts out. They wanted something that was cost effective and low maintenance and thereby pushed the small label Hip-Hop genre that has evolved into what we see today. Once the genie was out the bottle on explicit/violent language, all music with meaningful lyrics and song composition in the R&B genre went bye-bye.
Maurice White was deep into Egyptology. Their hits were fantastic but the deep cuts showed their awareness and understanding of a deeper chord. Not just album covers..
