Moved to Jackson in 1979 after graduating nursing school. Worked at University and lived on Keel Street people thought I was rich for living in North Jackson. Changing careers and after living in Los Angeles, Salt Lake City and New York City I still have great memories of Jackson, the people and the night life in the 80's can't be beat. Unfortunately after retirement and moving back, things have changed but I still hold Jackson close to my heart. I lost my virginity on State Street lol

Wild, I'm gonna be there next week for work and my hotel is very close to that resturant Sombra. I guess I'll need to try it out

Sombra is great. Some of the best chips and salsa in town And if you don’t want Mexican they have some great burgers too.

You guys have been awesome to learn of the area..... what's your thoughts on North Shore and North Shore Landing? You haven't included it in any of your "Cool Brandon" reviews and we are interested, relocating from the DC Metro

Do you recommend buying a mansion here? It seems like a really good area, up my alley, but i'm afraid it'll get the jackson treatment.

I mean, if you’re going to buy a mansion somewhere, it’s not a bad choice. Good value for your money, low property taxes, close to shopping and activities, low crime. There are a lot of areas around the Jackson metro that offer similar benefits. Not sure what you mean by “the Jackson treatment” though.

@@LivingInJackson You know, most of Jackson is just beat down and very dangerous, things keep getting worse and worse. I'm afraid Ridgeland is next on the chopping block, it's already above average in crime. The low taxes are definitely great.

If you look at crime maps, most of the crime in Ridgeland is over around the mall and county line rd where it borders Jackson. Even there Mostly property related crime like shoplifting. You don’t see as much of that over where the township is. Also the highland colony area in general is fairly new and well kept. I don’t think it’s going to be looking run down over there for a very long time. You could always go farther out to Madison or Gluckstadt. Flowood and the rez (39047) areas have a lot to offer too

I can't believe, what Ridgeland has become. The only thing I liked about Ridgeland when I left Jackson in 79. It had a nice place for lunch. Me and some of the guys at the place I worked with back then. John Harvey Ford. Would be wanting some good Mississippi cooking. Instead of the fast food around North Jackson. I had a Uncle that became the Chief of Police right about the time the Town went boom, mid 80's probably. He had to modernize every thing. From patrol cars to office equipment. He was in a constant battle with city hall. To increase the needs of the PD. He was a good man who died way before his time. Of an ailment nothing on the line of duty.

Amusing cell tower to some one who worked a long time ago for a phone on a chip designer.

I still don't really get the point of making them look like trees when they are twice as tall as the surrounding real trees. lol
