Cos when telling the story of the Viking Age, that was really a small and irrelevant part. If they would've managed to keep a colony for 100's of years then it would've been a lot more important
@@samsativa245 Think it's that difference between 'a Nation' having a colony and a few families going off into the wilderness - if Norway or Denmark's Monarchs had sent off some ships and a priest, we may well have had more made of it but as it is, they were effectively lead by an exile.

Actually they didn't. they mentioned that they were there centuries before Columbus. Not a lot said about it, but again not much is known about it. No monks there to write about it.
The Vikings only took the Scottish islands, not the mainland...they only got the islands because it was inhabited by farmers and crofters...they did venture onto the mainland of Scotland but were quickly slaughtered. How about if the Lindisfarne thing was a misunderstood rescue mission? What if the guys just wanted to train a little rowing, and happened to come across a burning homestead of some monks, and extremely bewildered by the fires? Of course they had to subdue the monks with a little knock on the dome and secure the belongings. But since the place burned down they offered them a new place to live, back home in Denmark or something 😂
what you call a viking never call himself a viking and what they have done is the same what every pre christian germanic , slavic or celtic tribes hundrets of years earlyer had done. Saxons and Frisians in the 4th-6th century along the western northsea coast incl. the south england coast for example and the Saxons say also they are on a Wik.

Columbus never made it to the USA, he only got to the Caribbean, while some Norsemen got to Northern north America. The English of course in the kicked the Norse out of the country. We did it for gold and women. Stole it all and took every beautiful woman over to the north so the rest off the world can come here to enviously look at our beauty and stately height. It is not enough that we are the most beautiful in the world, we are the humblest and most unbragging people in the universe.
we? what did you do? and calling yourself most beautiful but also humblest is contradicting.. and may i also ask what do you know about the universe? i see a lot of big talk but you call yourself Humble🤣😂
The normans as vicking colonie. That is a good way to put it. A very good one. And the metaphor of the vickings as a tsunamy was also cool. Though i maybe would prefer the image of a divine seasonal flood all over europe.
Arguably the most successful group of people in history, their French descendants conquered Britain and Ireland. Also sailed into Russia and took over - the Russ ( hair colour ) Also settled parts of Mediterranean countries. ❤️👍🏽👍☘️
Because they were Germanic, more sophisticated than Romans in many ways but weren’t able to record it for future generations like the Romans did and were fully capable enough to create kingdoms across all of Europe as soon as Rome fell.
You don't know why Vikings had horns on their helmets? -The horns were awesome to drink from before glass was invented. So the viking helmet is actually a beercan hat or possibly for mead.
Completely ignored the Vikings landing in what is now Canada.

We, the Vikings, we were tradesmen,...as simple as that,..and if you didnt trade with us we trade you with someone else ;-)
The vikings were also businesmen and explorers. They grounded Russia!!! They were gards in the roman empire and in Egypt.❤From Sweden.
Vikings werent simply "pirates", "going "Viking" could include raiding etc but it also included exploring, trading, establishing trade etc etc etc
We have northern lights in Norway also😂😂😂
Even in Denmark from time to time.
Hahahaha, Spencer like "zzzz ... zzzzz ....zzz ... MERICA????!!!!"

Not the best video of the viking era you chose to react to, and thats an understatement.

Leif Erikson's first name is actually pronounced like the English word "life".
Nope
Maybe there is dialect differences but we would say layf

Vikings had a big influence here 'across the pond' 100"%

Why would we be upset ... most of us have viking ancestry ? Aiso, maybe watch a video made by someone ither than an American?

Their early raids on Britain were pretty much piracy but later it was invasion for settlement so maybe not exactly Viking.
