Even if Fun Spot locations lack Chuck E. Cheese branding, food, or prize redemption, the mall arcades aren’t a bad concept in my opinion. It would bring a small arcade experience to those in the area who don’t have CEC or Dave and Busters locations nearest to them.
I would like to see the mall arcade come back and if this is the first step then I would be very interested in seeing this come to my hometown, wouldn't mind the vintage games either!
Wow the fun spot looks so great. I love how they still have some of the CEC things inside. It's history shour holds a Spot in all of our harts❤. If I ever go up North We may go there.
Not sure the name is a good idea since the 2nd largest arcade in the world is also called fun spot in New Hampshire and has been around since the 60's.
Swing and a miss. The cheapest solution would be to have some leaderboard display technology in the footprint (where you register your card on a website and pick a display name + they collect email addresses to build a database): so you could at least brag on social media about having the high score of the day/month/year (think Buzz Lightyear Ride at Disney). That has no hard cost to it. Finally, they couldn't brand the card that you get credits on for a few extra cents to "Fun Spot"? If they did, people would carry it in their wallet and remember to go back there.
Fun Spot would be great for malls that are in small towns. Maybe if people can't afford CEC or D&B, this would probably be a nice place to visit. Its a shame my mall won't get this since we have an mini arcade inside.
I literally was thinking about that quite obscure Fun Spot theme park in Orlando, FL I didn't know The Fun Spot Acarde was a Chuck E Cheese for probably older kids and high schoolers never heard of that! lol.
I’m originally from Connecticut, I grew up in Norwalk Connecticut then I moved to Trumbull Connecticut! I used to go to the Trumbull mall a lot with my friends!! lol good times, now I live in Florida ,I like the idea of the vintage games, maybe they can also do animatronics and bring those back ! 😊
Since it's the same corporate entity as Chuck's I'm surprised they don't just use the same cards and price structure. All they'd have to implement differently is the fact they don't serve food and they don't have a prize counter. Not a bad idea just not one that was thought out all too well.
A concept that would have been fantastic 20 years ago. I’m a little surprised they don’t tie in the Chuck E Cheese name and characters for some extra draw - otherwise it is a nondescript arcade.
Disregarding the obvious lack of food, employee training or process of credit redemption; considering the dying nature of malls (in America) in general, combined with the fact that this type of arcade is not a new concept, I don't this this is a well thought out business model and would be very surprised if it lasts outside of the prototype stage without significant modification.
@@adamwiz2 I don't think you're wrong. I'm not really sure what their purpose for doing this is besides testing out new game technologies, because clearly it's not a big enough concept to directly go after Dave and busters, so I guess we'll have to see how they're gonna roll this out and scale up. But yeah, malls aren't exactly the place to be anymore, so it is an interesting choice.
They also aren’t bringing anything new to the arcade scene, so there’s no incentive for repeat customers or any difference between going to any other arcade.
I have a hunch it’s CEC getting ready to ditch their brand and downsize considerably to avoid another nasty bankruptcy. Probably completely wrong though
@@Bromon655 It honestly hurts to watch. They are completely blind to what fans want and new innovative ideas that are unique. Appealing to everyone means appealing to no one.
When I was there I scanned my play pass from Chuck E. Cheese and it did not work. The point structure to play the games is completely different. CEC's games are 1-2 points each and Fun Spot games are 10-30 points each, and only CEC offers redemption. All of the games are just for fun too, when you use your points you don't get anything back on the card. It's similar to how it works in Ocean City which doesn't allow redemption arcades.
Two things: 1. If only the arcades inside Chuck E Cheese were as cool as this. 2. What could make this do better is if they include imported games like Initial D, Sound Voltex, Project Diva, and Exa Arcadia. 3. Unless I missed it, this along side Chuck E Cheese needs a PAC-MAN game of some sort. 4. Maybe have a few oldschool machines (Pac-Man, Street Fighter 2, Time Crisis, something like those). I know there's those online who hate seeing card readers on old arcade machines but if you ask me, I'm fine with it as long as it lets the game be played for more years to come.
Omg I would love if they had imported games like Round 1 does. I’ve never seen a better arcade chain than them. I think fun spot could be interesting if they brought something new to the arcade scene otherwise i don’t see them having repeat customers
Ok… so I’ve known about these for months. They have about a dozen in the works. Saint Petersburg Tyrone Square Mall and Orlando Florida mall were supposed to be the first two, but thanks to issues with leasing, they’re still in the works. The concept works just fine. For those of you that don’t know, a lease in a mall is MUCH cheaper than the existing stores leases. This has pretty low overhead. It’s the lease, electricity, and minimal staffing. Nothing compared to running a full location. I personally think the lighting is a big mistake. It looks like a CEC, not an arcade. Might as well brand it Chuck E. Cheese at this point. I am also disappointed there are no pinballs or classic arcade machines.
Neat video man, that race was pretty chaotic lol, also a few things i noticed, They have the 2.0 Remodel walls, and the sign has a 2.0 font, you should try reedeming the prizes at a cec or peter piper pizza
im gonna be honest! These arcades look no different than games you get on PS5 and Xbox! Now if they added pinballs and cabinet games that are only on cabinets! Than I can see myself going there and having fun! Though they have skeeball I give credit to that!
As fun as it is, it seems kinda scammy if you cant spend virtual tickets on anything. Even if the ticket to prize ratio is bad, it still feels good to get something decent eventually.
This reminds me of the new chuck e cheese in Kansas city (you should go to it if you're ever close because you went to the biggest you should check out the smallest)
Only Chuck e cheese would think a new business in malls are a good idea 😂🤦🏻 there is absolutely nothing new or different to make this place stand out. Our bowling alley (spare time) has all these games, food, bowling, laser tag and not to mention ticket prizes so why go here in a dying mall?

@CheddarCEC3956 I suppose that's true if they really are targeting markets that they don't already have a store in.
Long live the arcade
Even the nerf arcade here doesn’t have tickets?
@@myang12003 Sadly, no tickets were given out of any game. It all goes right to your card, just like Dave and Buster's.

Yep

That Rock-afire Billy Bob shirt you're wearing is so freaking rad!!! 😃
heck ya I love his shirts
This brings a tear to this Gen-Xer’s eye ❤️
Very cool discovery with awesome arcades!
Interesting place to go.

You might enjoy the largest arcade in the world (also called Fun Spot) up in New Hampshire. They’ve got bowling, mini golf, and a pinball museum, too.
@@Niallatastic thanks for the tip!
Chuck e cheese. love it, keep up the good work sir.
I saw the gray lines from 2.0 on the walls
This is interesting!
‘Play All You Can Play’ turned into ‘Play Your Way’
Should be a good thing... however, I wonder if it will have any vintage 1970s-'80s arcade games?
I literally was thinking about that quite obscure Fun Spot theme park in Orlando, FL I didn't know The Fun Spot Acarde was a Chuck E Cheese for probably older kids and high schoolers never heard of that! lol.
Hi welcome to Connecticut! Kind of a bummer we dont really have any animatronics anymore

@sillyolryan very true, I think it would be more effective if they did

Senmox game card was a same machine from Chuck E. Cheese
Lol I feel like they're going to get in legal trouble with the true funspot who owned the name way before cec in Laconia New Hampshire
You missed the Ponderosa and York Steakhouses in Columbus, Ohio.

Can you visits the last animatronic in Florida which is Naples
You should go eat at Sake in Hattiesburg MS . I hear good things about it . There is also a Target close by . I saw where yall came a few months ago .

seems cool but i prefer when arcades have black walls and ceilings as it makes the games stand out more and has an overall better atmosphere
No Insider Connected Stern Pinball machines?
Galloping ghost arcade in Brookfield Illinois
Why not making a history video

💯%
Hey, I think fun spot is mid in my opinion, Im not saying its the worst play
Why does it not have Chuck E. Cheese branding they could’ve just made a Chuck E. Cheese in the mall they already have them
Too expensive! That's why it's empty!
HOW COME NO MORE QUARTER ARCADES! LOL
THERE IS A COOL RETRO ARCADE IN OXFORD MICIGAN THAT IS AN OLDSCHOOL QUARTER ARCADE
