      One question regarding the "left lead" into Platform #1 at 1:01 ... It's one of you Main line tracks into the station , but the sharp "S" curve can surly be avoided by starting it earlier (Maybe with a a smooth Wye switch? or even a much longer left hand switch Or easiest yet would be just Cut the corner off the Platform and ease into it). I am not one to ever criticize your brilliant work sir, as it is top level! However I noticed that one issue on my very first viewing of your videos almost 3 years ago and surprised me back then (So it's ingrained in my head now! lol 😎 Sir, your Layout is Perfection so please only take this as a suggestion for a "potential" track rework one day. Interestingly, my mates at our rail club here in Canada said to me one day when I suggested to do a similar small change at our huge Terminus Station.
      They said ""Do Any of our Passenger Consists Derail there?"
      I replied.. "No"
      They answered: "Well "F*** It!" 😏 lol

      That's great news to hear Dave. If you ever wanted to make an APT-P Class 370 on the layout with some extra cars. I would buy spare trailers that are in average to good condition as you will end up cutting them in half and fixing the articulated ends together as well as possibly having to repaint the modified cars after filling in the gaps with model putty etc :). I remember back in 1996 when I went to the Nottingham Model Railway exhibition I saw a Hornby APT on the (I think Carstairs/Law Junction) layout that they had a lengthened APT train with extra coaches which was interesting to see. Not sure if that layout is still on the go now as that was 20 years ago.
      Hornby sadly never made the extra coaches due to the negative press that the real train got in the 1980's. So I asked them how did they make the extra coaches for it and they told me by buying up loose/surplus trailer cars/driving units and chopping them in half and sticking the two articulated ends together to make the carriages :). I think that if its a viable train for you to make. A long APT train on Dean Park would look great and something unique :).
      Kind Regards
      Ash.

    Well done and totally deserved thearticle in Hornby magazine. I remember commenting a couple of years back now, but I am from Glasgow and haven't been to Edinburgh a whole lot(flights from or a train re-routing etc,even football matches ) but I do always think of Waverly station when I see your layout and standing on the bridge looking down into the station at the trains arriving and leaving. Always look froward to sitting with a coffee and watching when you post a video , thanks Alan.

    I'm born again Railway Modeller at the planning stage and looking for inspiration. Your trackwork is the best I've seen....the track looks real and bedding as it is in real life with the darker area between the rails and of course the trackside equipment. I am looking for the Hornby feature. Great video. Ian

    You run trains as they should be run. I think this is the best model railway layout for running Full trains and the track must be so well laid. Very clever design on two levels with loads of operational value. Very realistic with super attention to detail, and expertly constructed and executed. VERY WELL DONE, DAVID WATSON. PLEASE keep those videos coming. G.R.C. Was Wishaw/ Hamilton area.

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you! High praise and very humbling. One of my main rules to myself when designing the layout was to allow fully rake HST's to sit in the station and then run at speed on upper mainlines. It has lots of operational variations with all tracks gaining access to the upper line, TMD and station. So glad you think it is good. Cheers. Dave

    I totally agree that yours is the best layout on TH-cam. I am not saying that the others are no good, far from it, I think almost all of the layouts that are on here are good, it just the fact that yours is the best. I see that this video is three years old and maybe you have sorted the problem already. At the start of the video, the lights on the coach flickered off and on as it went over the point work. I hope one day that I will be able to join the group as I build "Yorkdale LNER Preservation Railway" There is a facebook page for it. It just shows some of the stock (Some from the 1960''s) and some of the model building I have made so far. All the best Dave. Martin (Thailand)

      Yeah nice. I was surprised to hear from them around the same time as you had your visit. Despite being only 1/4 'finished' they were keen to see it. They hope to return as I do phased 2, 3 and then 4. So that's cool. How long did the photographer spend with you? He was with me for 5 hours in an attic! I think I dropped a waist size in that time, very warm!. Just finishing off my article now, along with map, captions etc. Did you make up your own captions for the pics, or did Mike Wild do that? Finally, did you have a say on what photos went in? Dave

    Great video, have you considered close coupling the hst

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. The short answer to that is No. lol. It would be good if they were closer coupling, but there are no NEM sockets on the Hornby MK3. The reason apparently is that if you are pushing the train, with the power car at the rear the smaller couplers can get twisted/locked and the train would derail....I can run the train like this with the tension lock ones as they are without too many issues. So I suppose it would look better if they were closer, but cause issues elsewhere? Like you profile pic btw....Ahhaaaa! lol. Dave

    How do you make the gray stuff at the side and in the tracks at your station I like to know

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ballast gravel? If so, go to my How to ballast video. Its easy, but time consuming!

    Congratulations Dave. I'm sure it'll be beneficial for both you and Hornby magazine. Don't usually buy their magazine however will make an exception when your layout featured. Fingers crossed the inclusion will help you fly past the 6K subscribers and get you close to 10K, which you very much deserve. I did buy the magazine when Richards layout was featured and to my surprise found some very cool content and not just a collection of adverts :). Anyway as most have already commented please keep up the great work, certainly enjoy your updates. James (NZ)

      Hi James! Yeah Hornby Mag isn't as bad as some for adverts! I hope this will give me a surge of new subscribers....I see Richard's rose 3k recently lol. I hope to get more, but that's not the main reason I post videos. I just love sharing my hobby with fellow modellers etc. Really glad you like what I do, thanks for your support. Dave

    Subscribed - what a fantastic layout! Puts my 8 ft x 10 ft effort to shame though I enjoy running the trains more than creating scenery.
