    I remember driving all the way to Victoria, British Columbia from New Brunwick with my parents in 1993. I was 11 or 12 and had forgotten my Illusions cassettes at home. I wanted to hear some Guns, so my Mom took me to a Zellers or Kmart and the only GnR cassette they had was the November Rain single. I still have that tape to this day. Oh..memories.
    ..I can proudly say that I still listen to the exact same music (and genre) that I did when I was in elementary and middle school. I never went through a Back Street Boys or rap phase or anything like that, like so many of my friends did. Although, I have to admit that I was a huge Poison fan when I was little hehe.I would say that GnR, Megadeth, Motley Crue, Queen, Metallica (Black album and back) and Iron Maiden have always been my favorite bands.

    i was at a bar in about 1994 the band went on break and they showed videos during it, november rain came on and played to halfway through the second solo when the screen goes off and the band started their next set, needless to say the crowd didn't respond well at all, and soon the band left the stage and started the video back up until it finished. this wasn't a crappy band either they were one of the top local bands at the time. was a unforgettable moment.

    "Everybody needs to be alone sometimes..." that is certain and I admire Axl for being able to state that for all of us. Solitude can lead to contemplation and reflection. This song turned me on to Guns N Roses. I listen to this when I am down and it becomes my validation and salvation and lifts me up.

    22:34 Gripe? Did you happen to notice he was dressed completely differently and had a Les Paul when he came out the door, not to mention the Les Paul isn't plug into anything and there are no amps or speakers around? It isn't supposed to be the same church. It's part of the surrealism of '80s and '90s videos.

    This band was, is, incredible. AXL is really a smart guy that people dont give him credit for. How beautiful can one man be? When he was young, omg. GORGEOUS, pure testosterone!!!
    People criticise him now for one thing or another. They forget how he abused his voice for his fans. He is one in a billion , that's all I know.
    I wish adler and izzy would rejoin.
    Why not.?? People make things hard when they don't have to be hard.
    Axl was really messed up when he was young but I think he's got it together now ..I think he's found happiness in his midlife years..
    I mean come on, this band is the third largest grossing band financially in America with this tour. you got to give the guys credit they're amazing .
    Duff looks fantastic.. Axl needs to lose some weight yeah but he looks great not singing as well but just like I said he abused his voice for for all of us .
    slash is magnificent.. they're just special , just really really special people!!!

    This is a time where I’m glad Axl was insistent to get his way because this song is a masterpiece. I think I love it all the more because of just how stark the difference this song is compared to their normal sound. There’s something cool when a song isn’t just great but is also such s pivot from a bands norm, taking major artistic risks and showing another side of a band like this song does. Hard to imagine this song not existing.

    I never thought the church Slash walks out of during the wedding was the same one we see he play outside of. I always assumed the solo play was AFTER the funeral where he just felt like letting out his "emotions" as it were in the most secluded place he could think of where he could grieve was that church. But I could be wrong.

    • @timothyh6670
      @timothyh6670 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He walked out to have a smoke. Then he saw helicopters width video cameras filming him and swooping to and fro north to east and south to west. He made believe he was playing a guitar solo....and then added the music later. It was all impromptu.

    Your gripe about Slash's solo in front of the small church....I never thought it was supposed to be the same church. I always assumed they were making a statement about dried up love like a desert or something....but when they throw rice in front of the church, it is obviously not the same place. I

    First, I’d like to thank you for doing such incredibly thorough research for all of your “True Story” videos. I’ve enjoyed them immensely. Second, just a few questions. Have you ever considered doing a video on some of the ancillary people involved with GN’R? Maybe like a whatever happened to type of video on some of them like Craig Duswalt (Axl’s personal assistant), Earl Gabbidon (Axl’s longtime bodyguard), Marc Canter (Long time associate of GN’R), Vicky Hamilton (Onetime Manager of GN’R), The 976 Horn section from the UYI tour, The guy (Roadie???) that used to announce GN’R as they went on stage, especially during the UYI tour. I always wanted to hear about him!!!! What’s his name??? Whatever happened to him???The list goes on, but for some of serious GN’R fans old enough to remember their glory days, it would be nice to know what happened to them. Thanks again and keep up the great work! GnFnRs! Live like a Suicide!

      Thanks for the quick response! Yes, your YT channel truly rocks. If you ever choose to venture down that road, I would consider it the coolest thing any true-blue, dyed-in-the-wool, GN’R fan could ever do! For me personally, the guy (roadie) that announced the band for, seemingly, every show of the UYI tour would be the ultimate WHT?! Also, how could I forget to mention Beta Lebeis, Axl’s longtime personal assistant/Manager?! That’s gotta be a great story to tell. Thanks again! GnFnRs! Live ?!*@ like a suicide!

      wouldn't be surprised about axl's sister thing since she worked on the use your illusion tour.

    • @MairaBay
      @MairaBay 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible, since there was a lot of competition between bands and their videos at the time (ah, the good old days of MTV). However, Richie Sambora played on top of a cliff in the desert (if you are talking about Bed of Roses). It's pretty hard to top that. And the scene in November Rain surely doesn't. But it's still really cool and an amazing solo!

    Matt Sorum “greatest song ‘we’ve’ ever written”. ‘We’ve’?! GNR is Adler Axl Slash Duff Izzy. Not some brought in session drummer. Adler Duff and Slash had 33 songs when Axl brought November Rain in. Sorum played drums to music to music Duff Slash Izzy and Axl had largely already made with Adler drumming. Adler was the key member when GNR made those songs contributing to their shape and sound. Sorum came in after those sounds were created to do session drumming. Sorum an overrated drummer riding Adlers work. Never forget Adler drums are on Locomotive the best songs on UYI I & II
