I am a 67 year old woman, wow, does time fly. I fell in love with Science Fiction as a young teenager and never looked back. I LOVE the ships ! and space battles ! The Yamato is one of the most beautiful space ships ever created by imagination. I love this movie.
66 grandpa who feel the same
yeah. fight. battle. we fight until the last drop of blood. of course your blood. we watch. :)
@@ravanabrahmarakshas4263 are you having a stroke?
have you listened to the ` Galaxy's Edge` audio books and other by the same authors? simple fun.
@@ravanabrahmarakshas4263politics don't belong on this thread, dude. Cmon.
watched the cartoon before school when I was a kid. Love Star Blazers.
Careful you're telling your age. welcome fellow gen X'er
Same here.
Likewise. KSTW 11 in Seattle with the broadcaster that I watched it on
This cartoon, Robotech, and Southern Cross were amazing at the time.
@goodday126 cartoons were just different then, now I'm not so sure about them
I loved the anime Star Blazers as a kid. This movie does it justice.
😢
And they redid the animated series too.
Best series. I have it on DVD.
At 51yrs old... I still remember the story! Thank you for posting! You're awesome!!!!
I'm 55 yrs old and watching this movie brought a smile to my face. The memories of me as a kid watching this filled me joy I haven't felt in years.
I can't believe that after 15 yrs, this is the 1st time I watch this. An amazing tale of persistence, Love, honour and sacrifice for the greater good.
I gotta admit, I loved watching “Star Blazers” as a little kid in the late seventies. I always believed it was ahead of its time. Now at soon to be 57 years old, this movie brings back some great nostalgia.
Thanks for bringing back some great memories.
P.S. Just one small problem with this movie. The Wave Motion Gun didn’t have that awesome sound it made after firing!
One of the best movies that I had the privilege of getting to see free on TH-cam. More please like this
Amazing 😁😁😁 as a 6 year old, I got up at 5am to watch Star blazers, this ROCKS!!!
I did too. I guess we're the same age. 😀 Despite the changes, this was a great movie. Luckily, since I was in my mid 30s, it didn't bother me. As a child, I would have had nightmares. 😄
I've seen the Japanese version of the cartoons... oh man they were brutal. I'd rate it tv-14.
@@retluocit’s a bloody kids cartoon we watched as kids new in the 70’s, y’all definitely earn bubble wrap generation
@@patrickancona1193 Talk about brutality and heroism, I was raised on Bible stories in the late 70's. just read today about how Jezebel got the ending she richly deserved... Second Kings chapter 9. If you want to raise your kids to strive towards becoming a hero or the best they can manage, school them on history. It's too bad we cant all go out like the young Captain.
I did too!!! :) Ahhhh the 70s ;)
I got up in the middle of the night! And I never knew about this movie until now!! Really good.
I am 62+ years old. Loved this in the mornings before school.
I found similarities to Battlestar Galactica.......Did anyone else. ?
Excellent entertainment.
Finally a movie worth watching
Beautiful Movie.. Wow, Senseful at every turn..
Thanks for sharing! 🤝
I love how the subterranean cities are completely dystopic like a nightmare version of hong kong's hidden city, In the original animated series the underground cities looked too perfect...
I’ve been looking for that show. Can you find it
Or I find it. Do your ember the name
When I was a kid I always watched Star Blazers before goin to school, with that bein said, This is a great movie and very much worth the watch. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)
Really astonished from releasing the movie on TH-cam without monetizing it...
I bow to Japan!
Respect
What a great movie!! Very significant!!!
Damn I was hoping that this was the animated one!!! I love that whole series!!!
The story line started way back in 1973,
This movie came out in 2010 and is still one of the best Japanese movies ever to hit the big screen 💕💕
Loved Star Blazers as a kid! The end of this though..😱🤨
What a great movie. Really good acting too.
We should all be proud of the inner strength we have, and know that it is a noble thing to use your inner strength to uphold goodness and freedom.
I’m 62 and I just seen this and I want more seriously
Kodai: I'm on the...
Captain Okita: That's right. The Yamato.
So nice to watch in English. Been a fan many years. 👍
Not too bad at all. Very good live action of one of my favorite animes.
Thank you for english Dub I really enjoyed it.😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
Nice movie ,got me so excited.
Thanks Japan for this epic movie..
What a fantastic movie!!! This is amazing on so many levels. LOVE IT!!
I love that there’s a cat in this. The Japanese Rock! 🚀 😸
I LOVE the fact that Saito is voice in english by the same legend that voices All Might in My Hero Academia - the greatest anime ever made :D
Love your work dude! LOVE IT!
I love the Japanese! They are so extreme!
Thanks for sharing. I really, really loved to watch.
VERY IMAGINATIVE....THE YAMATO SAILS INTO SPACE...
SHE WAS THE GREATEST BATTLESHIP EVER BUILT ATER THE BISMARCK....
WELL DONE JAPANESE TECH AND MARITIME DESIGN....
Excellent!
I used to watch Star Blazers
Thank you so much
Is that what it was called? I loved that cartoon when I was a kid ( are we dating ourselves?). That space battleship was the coolest thing.
@edwardsinram7099
It used to come on early on Saturday morning.
It reminded me of Battlestar Galactica but with more action and no mushy love interests
Although the film-making tech was not the latest for its time (2010), i will still rate this "good movie" on my book.
No matter how many times I watch starblazzers
It's still just a truly epic journey 😎 , I'll never tire of that theme song 🎵
I am...NERDING OUT...over this live-action movie of one of my all-time favorite TV shows!!! Seriously, I have a grin from ear to ear, LOL. Though it's quite a bit more abbreviated from the anime show - it's still good stuff in my book. Whoever made and then made available this to TH-cam has my undying gratitude. Hahaha.....
30 minutes in and I’m really liking this movie. That’s more than I can say about most of the other free stuff online. 👍
I own this and actually just watched it 2 days ago for the 199th time. prefer the subbed version but love both.
"This movie is an excellent Japanese entry in a niche genre, featuring fascinating cultural overtones. While referencing the original Yamato, the theme focuses not on war itself, but on the sacrifices made and the peace that followed."
IT'S A BEATIFUL FILM, MASTERPIECE
What a way to honor your history!
I also remember watching the original as a kid.
I HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE AND LOVED IT THEN AND I LOVE IT NOW. GREAT MOVIE!
Thank you!
The designer of the Yamato built her to be so overwhelming as to appear invincible. He hoped that when it got sunk it would break the illusion of invincibility of Japan. Thus they would surrender rather than fight on to annihilation, saving millions of lives for a future beyond the war of the day.
I also am 51 now. Yes, time flies! Anyways, i also watched this. In the Boston area. It was tv 25. This and others. Force 5! (Space Dragon, Grandizer, etc.) Pre transformers/gobots.
Also watched Battletech and their giant transformer battleship. Voltron, Space Pirate! Captain Harlock!
I used to watch the anime ... um, that is, my KIDS used to watch the anime series all the time. I, uh, THEY loved it. Happy to see the live action movie here. Thank you.
Edit: Yep. That was great. 👏 👏 👏 👏
Its about time! This has been delayed for far far too long!
I remember the anime from back in the 80's. It started my enjoyment with mechs.
Star Blazers... the first cartoon on American television that showed death. I was about 12 when Star Blazers came out and it was mind blowing to see such death, carnage and destruction.
Remember, before Star Blazers, the most violence we saw as kids in our cartoons was Bugs Bunny putting a carrot in Elmer Fud's shotgun and having the blast blow Elmer's hat off and make his face blackened from burnt gunpowder... then he said something goofy and Bugs got away.
This show was completely out of this world for American viewers.
It wasn't the first to show death, Speed Racer was.
They REALLY did us a favor, huh?😶🌫😎🤮
This is a very awesome movie based on the cartoon series in the USA ( Star Blazers ) that I remembered as a kid, I had to watch this again the second time.
This was the first genuine anime series I can remember watching. Never saw it in this format.
163,000 light years away is no small journey. Good sci-fi fun. thanks.
My congratulations to all who made this. 💙💯%
One of my favorites even though outer space is a blatant violation of entropic and natural laws!! Truth in plain sight since outer space in true physical reality is the waters above it makes sense for Yamoto battleship to be,, well a battleship!!
This is a well made movie and obviously the idea of the original Yamato story line, but I like the Starblazers story line better.
Love it Battle Scarred Nipponica Laser blasts meets Martial arts Hi YA
As a kid growing up i got up everyday to watch Star Blazers while i stuffed cereal in my face before school man that series was like a year long amazing cartoon for its time.
I love this movie, watched it more than once, the actual battleship Yamato I feel is the most aesthetic & magnificent navy vessel ever built ! 🤙
Wrong the American battleships like the New Jersey are the most beautiful ships ever built!!!
@ Not wrong, just a matter of opinion. 🫡
First anime cartoon i loved. Couldnt miss it.
This is awesome.
Most importantly, the cat lived.
I love that he caught her with his space ship's t-rex arms
Great Movie 🎥
Interesting line he had there, "In April, 1945 the battleship Yamato set sail to be a ray of hope in our people's darkest hour". First off it wasn't their darkest hour, that would come in August. The operation Yamato was a part of was a desperate and foolish attempt to foil the Okinawa invasion. Yes I see the parallels but unlike Space Battleship Yamato, the real Yamato's doom did not lead to ultimate victory.
The tech and presentation of this movie is very much welcomed, loved watching this. The only problem I had was the overly tragic story line.
Other than that bravo!
Awsome epic movie.
I watched the original cartoon series when I was a teenager, so when I saw that they made a live action version I geeked out so bad, it wasn't pretty!
Thanks mate
I remember a cartoon with the Yamato in it... The giant gun in the bow.
I never remembered the name of it.
But hay, I'm old enough to remember "Fireball XL-5." And black and white cartoons.
Star Blazers...
I recall seeing it *many* years ago - animated. I think it had the same title….
@dennisyoung4631 America = Star Blazers...
@@iancowan3527 looked it up to try to bolster an aging (less trustworthy) memory.
The series was named as you stated. However, I recall seeing an (animated) “movie” sometime in the late seventies, and *that* was indeed named as I recalled it - “space battleship Yamato.”
@dennisyoung4631 Correct! There has never been a "Star Blazers Movies"... This was my first time seeing the whole live action... Had only seen teasers in Japanese!
Great story!
Good damn movie 👍👍.
bullets againts high powered laser guns classic
I always wondered what became of Captain Birdseye :-)
A supper good movie.
And selling fish fingers is the captains side hustle, and wrap a towel around your stomach or you'll get the runs😂
Brilliant 👍👍, just wondering if the captain of the ship, still has he's sideline in cod fishfingers still going
is good for part 2
Wow when I grew up this was a good cartoon seemed for adults ,tough and good no mushy kid show great 😅now a movie I must watch yes ,is Kodi Wildstar...
I remember this show when i was in the 3 and 4th grade
..it was then called star blazers
I didn't know the most interesting man in the world was a space ship captain 😳
From the future director of GODZILLA MINUS ONE....
IKR
It looks like they hired the final wars VFX team.
Star Blazers 😁
Yamato kamikaze.
Good movie.
My fav movie ever and prob one of my fav sby’s ever
good movie first time ive seen it now for a 2025 update version left off from the ending of this movie
The end of Space Yamato is as tragic as that of the real Yamato (it was sunk in April 1945).
the real Yamato sinking was no tragedy... the treatment of allied and Asian people by the Japanese was a tragedy.
@@caboosej8749
Although Japan lost the war, it accomplished its goal of liberating itself from the European and American colonial powers. These are not words arrogantly spoken by someone from a country that has continued to exploit resources and people from Asia and Africa for many years.
Captain Okita remind’s me Gregory Peck in Moby Dick. 🤙
Aw, thought if the alien intelligence could destroy radiation and renew the planet a little teleportation would be child's play.
Bit of a space soap opera but engaging and entertaining. 👍
This looks really great, is it real people or CGI?
Real people with a lot of CGI effects and environment.
First couple minutes of the movie gave me xenogears flashbacks.
Star Blazers anime series that I watched as kid, I will never forget
who this is fkn awesome ! live action anime LOL ! i didnt know they made a star blazer movie !! i remember this stuff when i was a kid it was rad then ! now its even cooler LOL !
Yeah 533 meters Live action space Battleship Yamato
2:1:43 this is a very Star Wars ending feel to it with those Force ghosts
anyone else notice that everytime something bad happened to the ship no one was at their assigned stations? just standing around. smh..
