I lost my husband October 3, 2014 and I stood by him as he was slowly dying of Silicosis(Black Lung Disease). He was my everything and though he lost his faculties, OUR LOVE STAYED STRONG UNTIL THE VERY END!! I now grieve for him everyday and wish we went together, but I promised him I would stay and watch our grand babies grow and play. He said the night before he died that he wanted to box us all up and take us with him. My heart will never be the same again. 2 days before he passed away he asked me to take him out on our porch, as we got out there he said "Do you hear the doves?" we live on the farm where he was raised and we raised our children. He then sang to me "On the Wings of a Snow White Dove" and it was at that moment I knew he was going to Heaven soon. I so miss my night and shining Armour!! He was too young at 60 yrs old and I was too young at 46 yrs old to become a widow, I truly hate that word. I would rather say I am married, my husband awaits me on the other side. I wear my wedding rings still and his wedding ring size 16, I wear on a gold chain around my neck!! He was to us all :The Man, The Myth, The Legend!! 6'4" and was a gentle giant, never raised his voice at me or a hand, that right there is the definition of a REAL MAN!! I miss you Gary, more than words could ever say, I miss everything about you, your long gray hair and same with your beard, how I loved to brush your hair!!! I miss holding your huge hand in mine and telling you it was ok to let go, to be pain free, for Jesus will heal you as you enter Heaven, but please save a place for me!! I miss you MY LOVE.

I saw Trace about 10 years ago in Winchester, Ky right after I had shattered my rt. ankle and was in a wheelchair. My neighbor had to push me through the field to get me to a spot where we could see the concert. It was so worth it!!!! I love it

This song could be written about me. How it tells my life story. It’s a reflection of the journey of youth to maturity. I’m almost 56 and lived a great, crazy , fulfilled life. I was born wide open and lived wide open.....in the words of another artist...well , the lord made me hard to handle! I served my country for 8 years and as a civilian went into disaster areas helping save lives. Single mom, loved to party, raised my kids to live life to the fullest and just to be themselves. Both turned out to be great, productive adults. My health slowed me down,(a result of being in disaster areas and getting sick). So this song really resonates with me. “Yeah, I’m still crazy, but I’m just a little watered down!

Gail Landi Sorry, you're wrong. Trace went to rehab in 2002 after a DUI and quit drinking; he still smoked (and chewed tobacco). He relapsed in 2014, maybe earlier; he had an altercation with an impersonator on a cruise ship and went to treatment again when it docked. He left after two weeks to be with his father, who passed away. He went back to treatment and finished. As far as I know, he still smokes. There's a video of him from behind the scenes of the Today Show, and he's smoking outside at 5 AM. My point being, he was sober for about 12 years, then, relapsed, and I hope he's been sober again since then.

I'm sure that most song writers are almost always happy to sell their part of the craft to a good voice. Can you enlighten us all with a better voice for this song? How about the production staff and instrumentalists that made this wonderful piece come to life? Don't they deserve credit? Can you do it all yourself? Very few can. Even fewer try and then do it well. Good song writing, good performance, good production, and good video. Let us all just enjoy this wonderful, heartfelt song.
