to be fair it is Colorado i believe homes in the mid west are much cheaper than on the east and west coast. still i admit still impressive at 23 i dont think i can afford one in Colorado right now everything is too expensive

I am 53 and that was quite normal back then to purchase a home and get married from 18 to 23 but I know times are different and trying to purchase anything these days is unheard of unless you’re doing it with somebody else and that’s unfortunate but without going political it is what it is. Anybody that can do it on their own should be applauded because it’s rough out there.

I’ve been a licensed interior designer for almost 10 years, and if it makes you feel any better, your checkered floor is probably the most timeless thing in your house! It’s beautiful and has been a traditional design element for hundreds of years dating back to original historic design eras. Most people now are scared of it, but it will be around for the long haul! That room is my favorite 😊 stunning house and barn! Congrats on your hard work!

growing up my grandmas house was this beautiful limestone house and the hallway/entryway from the front door was black and white checker tiles, I was obsessed with it as a child. I was like 'why would you sell this stunning house you insane people' when I was a teenager and I'm now 30 years old and still love the idea of the black and white tile entryway. That's definitely a little longer than 5 years and I've noticed that while it may have gone in and out of 'trend' a thousand times over the years it never actually goes out of style, it's timeless. It's the most interesting tiles can get while still remaining fairly neutral so you can change up the vibe colour scheme of the room over the years.
Also just wanted to say how proud I am of your knowledge of the little building details of your home. As just a girl in the world the same age, I’m thoroughly impressed!❤

As someone who is 35, newly remarried with an 11 year old and 6 months pregnant AND recently just MOVED into my chaotic half renovated but fully not done house…these videos give me hope. I’m crying now amidst my no kitchen countertops, door knobs, bathrooms, trim or finished work anything….but at least I have hope that maybe in a year or two it’ll be done. Thankful to know that someone out there knows what I’m currently living in…kinda. Pregnancy hormones sorta exacerbate everything but survival is possible. Maybe I could even hope to thriving again one day???

Love it you and everyone that helped did an amazing job. Seems like best solution for bar is to extend the second step from back door to raise the floor under the bar. Also for the balcony you can have hanging flower planters on the rails or a table and seat for you to just sit and drink your coffee. Slowly but surely you’ll make your house a home and it’s never truly done if I’m being honest

I live in the Midwest and even gutted fixer-uppers are over 250k.
My house is a 4 bedroom 3 bath with 3 living spaces and a garage and Our mortgage is 1200 a month with home owners insurance. I live in the Midwest.

The lighting in the living room is such the perfect piece to tie it all together. I also love the arches I feel like it gives so much character to a room. And girl that checkered floor it EVERYTHING! Love it you and everyone that helped did an amazing job. Seems like best solution for bar is to extend the second step from back door to raise the floor under the bar. Also for the balcony you can have hanging flower planters on the rails or a table and seat for you to just sit and drink your coffee. Slowly but surely you’ll make your house a home and it’s never truly done if I’m being honest
