    I think the editing in these videos are really in appreciated bc they have a shot for literally EVERYTHING so they must have to file through so much damn footage of just people walking or restaurants or really anything to find the right shot. So good job

    If you have a meal plan, all Starbucks drinks count for a snack but they don’t specify what size, so you can just go for a trenta instead of wasting a snack on a tall or grande

    Bring a gallon sized ziploc to put the wet clothes in! Also, bring a towel for the kids to dry off with, AND use to sit on when you watch the parades!!! That concrete gets hot, especially when you’re wearing shorts! My towel absolutely saved me!

    My personal hack: Get in that long line right at close! If you’re really dying to go on flight of passage or space mountain but you didn’t want to waste your day, get in line when the park is closing. They keep the line open right to the hour and then stop allowing people to get in line, which means you still have to wait but at least you’re not wasting day light. This is bad for small kiddos if they are way past their intended bed time, but great for teens and adults.
    AND: it NEVER hurts to ask!! Like AJ says, when you’re nice to the cast members they are nice back. At the end of the night, usually 10 mins to close, you can go up to a super popular ride and just ask to go through the fast pass line! And they’ll usually just let you, without any more fast passes. I have been able to go on the mine train at close multiple times just by asking! The worse they can say is no and you wait in the regular line. Especially 5 mins before close, the cast members honestly just don’t really care because not many people are jumping in line anyway (compared to the day) I have also been able to go on Everest with my family 5 times in a row right at close. I usually go to Disney during off season times though so this could be different when extremely busy.

    -powder your thighs. You might not be prone to chub-rub but walking 14k a day. You'll need it.
    -put all electronics in sandwich/ziplock bags. Water rides and sudden rain happen frequently.

    Great vid, AJ! I have an idea for a future vid--would you consider doing a video that's actually about the 4 Starbucks locations in the theme parks, highlighting some of the unique snacks they contain, that you can only find in that specific location? I love the idea of being able to use my Starbucks card to pay for a snack at a theme park shop, rather than dining credits, but I would love to know ahead of time, what special treats they have that can't be found at your typical non-Disney Starbucks

We got great pictures with no crowds behind us, the photopass cast member was able to take some time to snap extra shots, and it was an overall more intimate moment in what’s normally a BUSY spot. I have watched probably hundreds of Disney videos, but definetly learned a few new things in this one!
    And just for the record, hand sanitizer is not a good option to washing your hands with soap and warm water! Hand sanitizer is a good option to doing nothing. Hand santizier is good before eating, but hands definetly have to be properly washed after going to the toilet (I see so many adults that don't wash or just rinse, it's mind boggling!). A science teacher once told me to always wash your hands when returning home, and I do that every time we go back to our hotel room as well, and I like to think it makes a difference in us not getting sick while we travel.

    Kids on shoulders are a big pet peeve of mine at Disney. My wife is just under 5 ft tall. It's hard for her to see even in ideal circumstances.
    On a recent trip we had a father who was over 6 ft tall, put their 6+ year old on their shoulders. I could hardly see anything. For my wife it was impossible. Imo if your total height with a kid on your shoulders is over the size of a tall adult (like more than 6 ft 4 or so) it's really rude. It's one thing if you're short and your total height isn't that bad. You can always lift your kid up and put their head near yours so they can see, or put them in a kid carrier backpack or something.

      I totally agree. If it's your first time seeing the show, though, and you're making a video for, say, youtube or family back home, you might not know what parts are worth filming or not, so I can see the appeal of filming the entire show. That being said, you don't NEED to stick your camera over your head or off to the side and point it randomly at the sky to film everything. You can keep it at chest or face level (blocks the light from being directly in peoples' line of vision because it's blocked by your body) and pointed up towards the action. You get to see the fireworks clearly in view and you are being courteous. Or, have it pointed at your family WATCHING the fireworks to get their reactions!!

I take pictures at Disney World of our daughter meeting Donald Duck etc., as thats a personal memory, not repeated any where else. The fireworks, the parade - I'll *enjoy* it at the time and if I want a reminder, review one of the thousands carbon copies on TH-cam with a view count of 2.

    Hey AJ, since you mentioned first-aid in this video I thought I'd share a tip. We experienced first-hand this fall that you can actually have prescriptions delivered to the first-aid stations in a matter of hours. I think there are one or two local pharmacies that do it. We had antibiotics delivered to first-aid and it saved our family's first-ever day at MK. Secondary tip on this: they wouldn't take insurance, we had to pay up-front but that was well worth getting it delivered.

    Thanks for the helpful information! Never been to Disney World but I know every hack 😅, could you do a video for people from other country’s, what to expect, or how to prepare? Thanks!

    • @Nimeariel
      @Nimeariel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One thing that I think some people from different countries need to remember is that they should look up local customs. SOME people from SOME countries don't know how to follow certain local customs and make the experience very unpleasant for other people around them. On the flip side, though, some people from certain countries sometimes even act better behaved and have better customs than people from the US!!
      Definitely the obvious things that would apply to anyone from anywhere outside of the local area (Orlando, Florida) include checking the weather/climate, reading up on local laws and ordinances that might apply to you (driving, weapons/firearms, smoking/drinking, etc), learning the lay of the land if you are going to be driving (or getting a reliable gps device or program for your phone), and of course doing your research about the rides and activities and resorts and dining that there are to offer at Disney.
      Other things that people from other countries might need to think about would apply to any travel abroad: make sure you have your passport and any other travel documents (visa, ID, etc), learn how to move through customs/security at the airport smoothly (aka what to pack and not to pack in carry-on, etc), make sure you have proper currency, make sure you have proper electronic plug converters; etc.

I went to Princess Fairytale Hall and met with Rapunzel and Tiana and my favorite character picture is me having a conversation with both. I was next to Rapunzel and she was telling a story, I was laughing and Tiana was peaking over from her side to get in on the story. It seriously is my favorite character photo ever.

    Something worth adding to the Land Pavillion "parking" issue - while you can drive your ECV thru the Soarin' queue, you have to use the elevators inside to get down to the attraction. This is a time killer if you're rope dropping (found this out the hard way this year), so if you plan to rope drop one of the "Big Three" at Epcot and have someone with an ECV, probably better to do Frozen or Test Track and FP Soarin'.

    Just a heads up that Friendship boats sometimes require you to fold your stroller. When you don't have to fold them, they get parked inside the boat where there are 4 wheelchair spots, so if room needs to be made for a wheelchair/ECV and/or there is just too many strollers on board, you'll have to fold them up.

This is the only thing I didn’t like about being alone, eating alone. I’m better with it now, but the first time was hard. Watch where you go after dark. Disney is supervised well, but don’t take any chances. Stay on the well lit paths and occasionally look over your shoulder. If you carry a bag, make sure it is secure and if you have keys or an umbrella that you could carry in your hand, use as protection if necessary. I don’t want to sound like a “Debbie Downer” but traveling alone means to be prepared and safe.

    I would hope most people already know but just in case, please remind everyone to not forget the sunscreen on the tops of feet if sandals are worn no matter the weather. I was on an ECV a couple of weeks ago and forgot to protect the tops of my feet and ended up with second-degree sunburn on the tops of both feet. This means massive blisters as big as silver dollars that were totally grotesque and painful. I ended up having to visit a local medical quick care clinic.

    My best fireworks advice. Is if you can watch them twice, do so. Watch them in the middle of the park but yes, there will be people with their phones in your face filming it (shout out to those who use flash while filming, you’re the actual worst) despite there being plenty of full shows on TH-cam of all the fireworks shows on TH-cam making it less necessary for you to film it yourself and I guarantee those are going to be better than anything you can film in a crowd with dozens of others doing the same. But watch them at least once from in front of the castle. Then if you can, watch them again from the train station on Main Street. Being up high means that you will see the fireworks better, but you may not see every detail of the castle projections. I never had much of an issue with that, but the back half of Main Street doesn’t shut the lights off, so note that. However I have thoroughly enjoyed the fireworks from there. Get there an hour to an hour and a half early as you would for any decent spot for the show, to ensure you get against the gate. It fills up fast in the last hour before the show starts and people will try and worm their way to the front. So make sure you get there early. If you can get the gate without many people around you, you will be pretty set. You won’t have people with camera’s in your face. People do however go up there to get photo’s but otherwise that’s my favorite place to go and it’s not a wildly known spot either. This is also good if you have little kids who might be scared. The booms are loud but you can prepare for them. Also bring your own ear plugs. No one in the park has them if you are sensitive to loud noises like me. You will still hear the music fine and the booms will be easier to handle. Also being at the Main Street train station means you’re right at the exit of the park so you will beat the crowds. That’s a bonus if you want that. But if you plan to stay in the park. Know that you will be a fish swimming upstream and it may not be ideal for large groups who wanna stay afterwards. We always would move up close for the second castle show and the crowds were unbearable and hectic and crazy. So keep that in mind too.

    If you have young ones please try out meeting a character such as the Easter bunny or Santa before you go. And if they are afraid. Please do not force them to pose with a character and have a meltdown.
    And if they are old enough to collect autographs. Please due your due diligence and find out which characters can and can not sign autographs. And explain to them in advanced that a certain characters can not sign autographs. Make up.some silly excuse. But again dont hold up the line because Buzz Lightyear is your child favorite character and he can not sign autographs and they have a meltdown.

      Make sure, though, that the Easter Bunny or Santa are looking their best, though if you take your child to meet them..... Sometimes the Easter Bunny or Santa (or any other comic book or movie character) can look a little bedraggled and rough-looking like they've had a long night of practice runs at visiting people's houses, if you get what I mean....... I'm not sure I'd want to meet them when they're looking like that, either!!

    I agree with AJ on the finding an empty seat on the monorail. Finding a whole seat empty for my entire party can be tricky sometime. During our last visit at Disney World, one time we had just missed the monorail as we were walking up to the line entrance. That made my party the first people in line to get on the next mineral. We got first pick where to sit in the next monorail. Of course that just happened by pure luck at a busy time.

    Another important note about Stroller parking, is that, in the busy 'parking' areas, the cast members may consolidate parking spots to make room for everyone. When this happens, your stroller may not be where you left it. Just like luggage, I attach a big ribbon to easily find my stroller.

    Pressed pennies! If you empty out a tube of mini m&ms, it is the perfect size to layer coins. Keep layering two quarters and a penny until the tube is full. Then, when you get to a pressed penny machine, you can easily get out your coins without having to scrounge around your change purse!

    To add on to your monorail tip. People ALWAYS seem to avoid joining my grandparent's car on the monorail for the simple reason of them being in a scooter so it APPEARS full up or impossible to get into. But check those cars with handicapped people inside, they tend to be one of the last ones to actually get filled up, and in my experience you can get around that scooter/chair easily. Especially now that Disney updated the rules so only one scooter is allowed in a section at a time, so plenty of room to get inside.

    • @Nimeariel
      @Nimeariel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have dining reservations, you just go through the front gate as normal, but there might be one line that says "Dining Reservations Only" or they might only have one or two turnstiles (okay well, Magic Band scanners) open and they will check your name against their records. You can get to the parks using disney transportation which starts about 1 hour before that particular park's resort-guest opening time (which may be an hour or two prior to public opening due to Extra Magic Hours or at the same time as public opening). The only exception to this is getting to Magic Kingdom via the monorail resorts or ferry boat from Fort Wilderness because they often have "resort to resort" transportation where you can just get yourself to the Contemporary and walk to MK. Other than that, you can drive your own vehicle, or rent a taxi/lyft/uber ($ to $$) or minnie van ($$$).

    Some of the tips we ABSOLUTELY follow on our trips:
    - Start drinking water more than usual a couple days before your trip
    - Waterproof bags for electronics
    - Sweater for Jan-Feb. I know it sounds crazy but even if it's 70 during the day, it can get breezy and cold at night during those months and completely ruin an evening in the parks.
    - Extra change of underwear, even for adults!! This is especially true for ladies during those summer months or when it's that time of the month. Trust me, you feel like a new woman when you put them on about halfway through the day.
    - Also!! Call Disney or go to Guest Services in Disney Springs if you think you have a strange request. They can't do everything, but they will try their best. We were able to link all of our party's fastpasses together so one person could reserve or change everyone's fastpass at once instead of trying to coordinate across multiple people. The customer service is like 75% of the reason we keep going back to Disney.

    Regarding stroller parking, also know that cast members will move your stroller. Once a show lets out and some of the strollers get picked up, a cast member will rearrange the remaining ones to take up less space. This is especially true outside the Disney Jr. show at Hollywood Studios. We have dropped off our stroller and done the Disney Jr. show, they walk over and do the Little Mermaid show and then our stroller is not exactly where we left it.

    I learned a Fast Pass tip on our last trip to Disney. Three out of four of us in the group had annual passes so we had linked each other on all of our phones on the Disney app. The 4th person had a one day ticket so that ticket wasn't showing up when we got fast passes. We managed to get a fast pass for Flight of Passage on one of the phones that did not have the individual ticket linked yet and the cast members allowed us all to go in the fast pass line because the majority of our party had a fast pass. I am not sure if there is a rule about this or if our cast member was just super nice. It is worth a try though!

    I think a lot of people are unaware that you can use both monorails to leave Magic Kingdom. Although one loop is designated as “Resort Only” no one is actually checking and both monorails stop at the TTC. Conversely, you can walk to the Contemporary and catch the monorail there and avoid a good chunk of the crowds. I saw people doing this while we were staying at the Polynesian. Also if you are staying on the monorail loop and the aforementioned tip has made your way back home an unbearable mess of people now that everyone knows both monorails are fair game, you can always mad dash it to the boats as these are usually docked and ready for the first crowds after the fireworks and the kiss goodnight and most people ignore them, making them a better choice than the monorail if there’s already a pretty long line for it by the time you make it out of the park.

    As a former CM, I will say if you leave your stroller in a random place that is not a designated stroller parking location, cast members will move the stroller to the nearest (but sometimes farthest) stroller parking. We do it for safety and to prevent others from leaving their strollers there too. However, it's important to be aware that the CM that moves the stroller might not be the CM that is working stroller parking when you get back and a lot of strollers look the same! If you abandon your stroller in a random place, know that it may cost extra time to look for it than if you took the few minutes to park it in the correct place. Same goes for ECVs!

Get food throughout the day!!! Also in relation to if you take a break and go back to the hotel mid-day, change your shoes, your feet will feel better, your foot sits differently in different shoes. Arches won't hurt as much, hot spots on feet and ankles get a break.

    The package delivery is a good thing that often gets forgotten about.

    • @Nimeariel
      @Nimeariel 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree but it only works for people who aren't park hopping or who are staying longer than a weekend. If you get the package sent to the front of the park, and you decide to park hop, that package doesn't move with you. You have to go retrieve it from the original park. If you are only staying a weekend and you only do the parks on Friday afternoon and/or Saturday, that's still too soon to have it shipped to your resort. They want you to be available at LEAST 24 to 36 hours after you send it, and that 24 hours cannot fall on your check out day. So even shipping something to your resort at 9am on Saturday, they say they won't guarantee it arriving sunday at 9am because what if it doesn't and then you have to leave at noon and oops.... no package. However, you CAN get it shipped to your house (for an extra fee) no matter what day of your trip it is.

    • @lindseysolodiuk4618
      @lindseysolodiuk4618 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nimeariel again keep in mind that the shipping to your house only works if you are in the US for us in Canada this is not an option and we tend to stay a bit longer so for the most part package (even if only to the front gates) is better than carrying your bags while you are in the park.

    Where exactly would you go if you had breakfast dining reservations and wanted or could get into the park early? Is there a special place or building to go to? Would like to avoid the lines into the park before it opens.
    Also I heard this from a cast member on the phone but if you have the grab and go meal plan and not the sit down dinner, some restaurants use them for breakfast or lunch. Example Be Our Guest breakfast and lunch can use the grab and go meal plan but not for dinner. And dinner meal plan can be used for dinner there (not sure if you can also use for breakfast and lunch with the dinner meal plan or not). So if you have your heart set on a restaurant and have a grab and go meal plan , you can save money by using that meal plan for those restaurants instead of paying out of pocket or getting the dinner plan. Consider getting grab and go plan or snack plan because you can waste a lot of time doing sit down dinners everyday. In general do some research on where to go and what you can get with the meal plans, do some research.

    • @Nimeariel

      To clarify: Some restaurants, like Be Our Guest (BoG) are what's called "Quick Service" (aka grab-and-go) dining during breakfast and lunch services only. During dinner service, they are what's called "Table Service" (aka sit-down/waitstaff dining). Other restaurants are simply "Quick Service" (QS) restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some are "Table Service" (TS) restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
      ALL TS restaurants require reservations prior to eating at them, and ONLY take TS food credits from the dining plan. MOST QS restaurants DO NOT require reservations prior to eating at them (In fact, BoG is the only one that requires reservations for both QS and TS. ABC Commissary at Hollywood Studios does not require reservations for dinner QS but offers them.) If you have the QS dining plan, you CANNOT dine at a TS restaurant using your food credits; you will have to pay out of pocket. If you have the TS/QS (aka "Regular") dining plan, you may use your TS credit to eat at a QS restaurant, but that is a waste of money. The QS dining plan is MUCH cheaper than the "Regular" dining plan, but still can be quite more costly than purchasing out of pocket. It just depends what you plan on eating and what your eating habits are.
      Most QS restaurants offer large entree portions of the actual entree offering (not just the "filler" foods like the fries or other sides) so while QS will allow you to purchase an $18 QS meal for basically $15, the likelihood of you finishing the entire entree AND the sides is low because the portion is so big. Therefore, you may have only eaten $10 worth of the entree (if you divide it up into 15-18 bites/portions) thus losing out on $5 worth of food.
      So, if you are a small or average portion eater, paying out of pocket (and saving up prior to going) may actually come out cheaper than the QS dining plan. This is true for two reasons: 1. You can order a cheaper QS entree (cheaper doesn't mean cheaper quality, necessarily, it just means smaller portion) such as a kids meal (yes, even as an adult you can order from the kid's menu) or something like a hotdog or chicken nuggets) and 2. You can purchase a more costly entree (or even a cheaper one, if you're not very hungry) and split it between two or more people.
      If you are an average to large portion eater, or you don't mind paying for the convenience of being able to order whatever and whenever without running out of money (although, credits should be budgeted just as if they were real money anyway or you will run out....) then the QS dining plan may be for you. It is a lot of food (2 QS meals and 2 snacks per day is a LOT of food) for ONE person to consume in one day.
      If you want to do a lot of character meals, then the "Regular" dining plan (one TS, one QS, 2 snacks) is definitely for you because then you DEFINITELY will get your money's worth. But again, it is a LOT of food.

      @@Nimeariel thank you so much! My mom and I are going in September and she had gastric bypass surgery. Therefore, she cant eat much (she usually orders kids menu or senior menu). We sometimes share meals but i'm an average to large eater so i'm always left wanting more. Then I order more and its a bit too much. We don't want to waste time sitting down all the time at a dinner. We like the snacks and we are at a disney hotel and can use some credit even after the parks. I just had my heart set on Be Our Guest because of the theme. Not sure if we want to do character dinners.

      @@mrs.alienrope5778 I haven't been (reservations are still kind of hard to get....) but I've heard BoG for lunch is pretty good. For breakfast I've heard it's pretty hit or miss and kind of standard. You'd be better off eating breakfast at your resort food court than at BoG. And from my own experience, sounds like maybe you'd probably be better off paying out of pocket (again, unless you like the convenience of prepaying and such like that, which is totally fine- it's whatever fits your family) simply because your mom can't obviously pay for a kid's dining plan and ordering a full meal and only eating half or less of it is sort of a waste- unless YOU eat that plus your own full-size adult meal or try to pack it up "to go" style and carry it with you around the park. I've done that before.... food lasts a little longer than you might think outside of a refrigerator. I've never gotten sick doing that. They don't have to-go containers at the parks, but I've gotten pretty creative with how I package things. Or you can be clever more than creative and bring a cooler and ziplock bags/plastic containers ahead of time.
      I don't know if you knew this, but IF you do decide to get the dining plan, a cool thing about QS meals is that you can always substitute the drink that comes with it (you get an entree and a drink) for a snack or appetizer or side or dessert that you can normally purchase separately (anything with a purple square symbol next to it on their menus). Just drink water or bring your own drink into the park. AND, should you decide you DON'T want a full meal, but you want some food, you can trade a whole QS credit in for 3 snacks/sides/appetizers/desserts. However, for both of these, they have to be done in the same transaction- you can't be like oh yeah I want my entree with no drink thanks and then go back and get a snack or be like yeah I want to use a QS credit for this snack and then later on go back and be like oh yeah I want this snack too and oh that one as well. You have to pick your entree AND "snack" or your 3 "snacks" at the same time.
      Also, the cool thing about the credits is if you have any left over at the end of your trip, you can trade them in, as I said, for snacks (or whole entire entrees if you really want to carry that home.....) to take with you home. But, things like brand-name foods (like oreos or Lay's chips or stuff you can get outside the parks that isn't by Disney) or things that might be non-name-brand like fresh fruit or pretzels or churros or popcorn are probably not worth getting to take home. Things like packaged gummy worms or the baked goods like giant chocolate chip cookie mickey heads or rice crispy treat mickey heads dipped in toppings are AWESOME snacks to take home with you at the end to use up leftover credits.
      So you do kinda get your money's worth in the end but..... it's all tied up in food, so you can't just trade it back for cash at the end to use for something else. That's kind of the one takeaway that I don't really like about the dining plan- the higher price item = larger portion = better value for dining plan = more full stomach= potentially wasted food = no trade-ins for cash at the end, just MORE food which may or may not get eaten once you get home..... but otherwise, it totally works for the convenience.

      @@Nimeariel thanks for the tips. yea been trying to get BoG this past month and is all sold out for the day we are going to magic kingdom for the halloween party. Checked the rest of the week we are staying, nada there too! A reservation just popped up for breakfast. i know its a hit or a miss, but i really want to eat inside here. im going to check out the other dfb vids on the food to see if i want any other places. i also heard for BoG that only 2 rooms are open for lunch and breakfast and all three are open for dinner. also when booking through disney app, it says some restaurants wont have characters in the morning. And BoG only offers photopass for dinner. Wish it was for every meal so i can get some good pics from the professionals. But im a breakfast person so here is me hoping that i get a good breakfast and get in park earlier for some pics without the crowds!

    Actually the "wash your hands" tip is a great idea everywhere. Always wash your hands before you eat anywhere.
