Liam Walsh That is such a cool fact I didn’t know about! Along with the thin visors to combat glare for the Flame and Snow troopers, I love how they are put these little functional details that the normal viewer probably wouldn’t notice!
Heard some people complain about there being Executioner stormtroopers...but consider the fact that executions happen often enough in the FO to warrant specialized troopers just for that, evidence that they took the zero tolerance for incompetence and failure to heart compared to the old empire.
@André 2.0 Hmm, if we'd been talking only about helmets, I may agree. But proportionally-wise the Death Troopers feel a bit imbalanced, that's why I prefer Shore Troopers.
Star wars Explained, you could have included the AT-M6 walker driver, but it's okay. Please update us on the new Resistance season 2 stormtrooper variants!
Given how Executioner-troopers are randomly-selected, and standard troopers can be made to serve as riot-control troopers, I think it's safe to say that First Order Stormtroopers, (and I also like to believe that Imperial Stormtroopers,) are ALL trained to be potential flametroopers, snowtroopers, magmatroopers, scuba-troopers, range-troopers, and so on; and that they become a certain kind of trooper based solely on where they are sent, what they might be assigned to do, and what their other duties might be. For example: a trooper fresh out of training who excels at swimming will be stationed on an aquatic world if they are well-behaved and show enough promise underwater. And if he has to swim after some rebels, he's sent as a scuba-trooper; but back at base, when he is on-duty, he might be assigned to patrol the base as a regular Stormtrooper. And if there's a conveyex on that world, and his squad is ordered aboard as security for the conveyex, he might have to change into sturdier armour and slip into magnetic boots if he is put on "range-trooper duty". And if a superior overhears that trooper insulting his mother, and he is sent to Sullust, he might have to patrol the volcanic landscape around the base as a magma-trooper. Makes sense to me. Especially when one considers how Clone Troopers often had to - due to the small size of their army - operate in all kinds of environments. Take Captain Rex for instance. He operated in the hot, sandy deserts of Geonosis; in the icy-cold of Orto Plutonia as a snowtrooper, he fought aboard a ship in zero-g, in a volcanic climate, and more. It makes sense that Imperial, and First Order Stormtroopers, would all be trained for action in very different surroundings, even if they spent their entire careers fulfilling only a few roles.
I would say that you would be right about at least the 'designations' specific to terrain: I honestly have a hard time believing that the Empire or First Order would have an entire trooper class dedicated ONLY to combat on cold worlds, or forest worlds, or the like; for example, the "Snow Trooper" is more likely just different armor given to standard Stormtroopers to better equip them for arctic environments, not a corps that has nothing to do if the Empire/First Order doesn't have any cold planets to go to. Whereas, for instance, Scout Troopers are clearly more geared for reconnaissance, even equipped with a sniper rifle, making them a different designation within the Imperial Army.
@user-rx5kp5pn4i This is nothing for me. I'm used to writing a lot more every day for a living. You can comment on it, or you can contribute to the discussion.
You didn't mention how executioner troopers were constantly being switched out. Any regular trooper could one day randomly be an executioner for anonymity.
When you said they are kidnapped at a young age and trained to be soldiers that makes feel like it is from Halo because the Spartans are kidnapped children that are trained to be soldier.
I know this is unpopular but I prefer most of TFO's designs over the Empires. They just looks so cool. Edit: And I'm guessing you made this before because theres a new variant in the Resistance trailer you didn't mention.
That’d be cool if the new trooper in Resistance season 2 are First Order Purge Troopers. It’d be a nice connection to Fallen Order and would raise some pretty interesting questions as to why the still exist.
We will be getting a new first order storm trooper variant in the second season of star wars resistance so I would imagine you would do an update video eventually
Q&A: Seeing as it's Canon (partly) through Star Wars: Commander, is it possible that the Galactic Empire's Project: Blackwing had a secret objective of unlocking immortality (possibly based on one of Plagueis's attempts) and used by Palpatine around the time of the Battle of Endor? Seeing as the original version of the virus in Legends was created by Darth Drear in order to achieve immortality for Sith Lords, something Canon Palpatine was looking for due to believing that the Empire shouldn't out live him.
I actually hopeful about the Sith Troopers after they weapons are revealed. They may be a limited elite group, but make more sense that the First Order under Kylo Ren focus on abducting or killing Force-sensitives. Also these people along side of the Knights of Ren(hope they are other fallen Jedi) make more drastic treat unlike regular Stormtroopers.
The rocket trooper in Star Wars battlefront 2 is really inaccurate :( But dam, executioners executing people on a regular basis? Dam, talking about evil
Granted, I think it's very unlikely that the same trooper would have to do it more than once. And regular basis could mean weekly, daily, hourly. We don't know. Remember, we're talking to the scale of - at the very least - *thousands* of people aboard First Order Star Destroyers, in First Order bases, or potentially *millions* of people on First Order worlds. Which is A LOT of people. Keep in mind, just because it happens very often, it doesn't necessarily mean it happens in large number. And for all we know, that's maybe five out of 50,000 people executed per day, on the Supremacy alone. (I don't remember how many people that thing is supposed to carry.)
Additionally, Executioner Stormtroopers' armour didn't say who was inside when viewed through a FO helmet, so that the identities of the Executioners remained secret to their peers. *Source:* _starwars.fandom.com/wiki/First_Order_stormtrooper_executioner#Equipment_
An Imperial Snow patrol were a variant of the First Order Stormtrooper from Star Wars, approximately 30 years after the Battle of Endor. The latest generation of cold weather assault patrols of the Empire Remnants , wearing armor and helmets, wore insulated gloves with adjustable heating units. Many of them were on Starkiller Base with snow landscape when it was attacked by the New Republic in 3311 LY. And they reappear twice in Star Wars: The Last Jedi were also involved in the Battle of Crait shortly thereafter walking forward to the Resistance outpost, break down the main gate with their Siege cannon. While Kylo Ren and forces enters the base to search and neutralize the Resistance to escape, entire peoples are not in there, all fleeing.

Well, Captain Phasma & other such stormtroopers & pilots are what I’d refer to as Leader Class, just like Commander Cody & Captain Rex, if you understand what I specifically mean & such.
In Star Wars Rebels, when Thrawn and Ezra was in the temple like room where the emperor was, what were those red armored storm troopers, were they a type of sith stormyroopers???

I personally really like the scout troopers helmet design. I don't really feel much else is unique about them, though.
Yessssss
The color combinations and overall physical design really does pull people in now doesn’t it
This does not include any new types from the Resistance Season 2 trailer which we don't know specifics about yet.
Star Wars Explained do you know how many former imperials are part of the first order
You left out the atmx/atat pilot
Star Wars Explained what about the pilots?
Star wars Explained, you could have included the AT-M6 walker driver, but it's okay. Please update us on the new Resistance season 2 stormtrooper variants!
All we need is a first order infiltrator and second enforcer. The Resistance's only way to regain numbers is CIS droids and weaponry.
