I saw Reverend Horton Heat in the 90ˋs live in Germany/Bremen in the Festival Breminale. ❤ They Played with my Friends Band The Boppin' Whoppers a Rockabilly Band.
I saw the Reverend with this singer in Charleston SC, and opening for Motörhead at the Cherokee motorcycle rally ca. 2013 with roaring Harleys in the concert that was crazy wild.
So interesting facts since you mentioned about Billy and Lemmy. Of course obviously we know Jimi Hendrix had Lemmy as a roadie, but another interesting fact is that Jimi Hendrix before he made it big was a backup musician for David Allan Coe. IIRC, Lemmy did some musical backing for Coe on a few Studio sessions...
So cool hearing the upright bass on a hard rock track. If only more bands were like this. I play a mix of Iron Maiden covers in a rockabilly style, and some Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins covers and its cool that rockabilly is still alive and mixing well with stuff that came after its original 54-59 movement.
There is a genre and it's called psychobilly ;-) It is basically faster and louder rockabilly. Mixed with campy tongue in cheek 50es horror and sexual themes th-cam.com/video/PAkrcdbXLE0/w-d-xo.html Tattoos, hollow body gretsches, slap bass, dyed pompadour hairstyle... reverend horton heat is related to the genre. Scene is much bigger in Europe than in US, but it is still a niche. Proto psychobilly were the Cramps, even they did not use upright bass. My best friend in highschool was deep into it, so I went with him to their clubs and concerts, great music, great crowd. They tend to have a great sense of humor, and be very sweet, they get their aggression out in music so in regular life they tend to be sweetest crowd ever. I recommend psychobilly concerts and festivals, guaranteed great time.
The band Death (the metal one) has some fretless bass playing that’s truly superb (best example: Suicide Machine, imho). I too, love metal & aggressive musics with uncommon instrumentation 🤟
@@miahconnell23 I'm a Christian now, this stuff doesn't interest me anymore. There are better things in life than metal or rockabilly. Eternal life and rewards in Heaven.
I saw the Rev a couple years back at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach, Ca and it was one the best shows I've ever seen, and yes they played this song as well. Damn!
You're a bit upset and you're asking yourself about the reverend choosing such an ordinary singer for this song untill you scroll down and see " the singer is Hoss, their Lighting Engineer" and start cryin' while laughin
The singer is my Uncle!!
Happy 61st Birthday November 2, 1959 Jim "Reverend Horton" Heath. Texas born, Texas raised and one kick ass performer ! Cheers Rev ...
So convincing! Ace of Spades nailed on Rockabilly instruments! Lemme would fucking approve! The vocalist nailed it down for sure!
What's a rockabilly instrument.
It's a gretch.
It's a very popular guitar used by all genres.
The Reverend Horton heat's talent is in picking.
The Rev cam jam on a guitair and keep an “it ain’t no thing” composure..Love it!
Hoss spent most of the summer of 95 on my couch, love that guy.
I absolutely LOVE the Rev and company. Keep on rockin boys!!!!
Jim is one of the few people I hope live forever

OMFG thank you!
"The singer is Hoss, their Lighting Engineer." That's noteworthy. Consider that Billy Powell started out at a roady for Lynyrd Skynyrd.
kenp3L Lemmy was a roadie for Hendrix when he started out
He also got kicked out of a psychadelic band for doing too many drugs. You can't make this shit up.

I've always said that a upright bass tends to increase the likelhood of awesome music.

'IF YOU DON'T LIKE Reverend Horton Heat...I'll fucking kill ya." Lemmy.
I met Hiss at a dive bar in Vegas. Cool dude.
I wonder what Kerry King's and 2012 Leonardo DiCaprio's relationship was like before they made Hoss.

This needs to find its way back up the algie rhythm.
