- Local news coverage of the Blizzard of 1993 which officially dropped 13 inches of snow at the Birmingham airport with as much as 18 to 20 inches in parts of the city. The storm occurred on March 12 & 13, 1993.

Any of us that were alive. It wasn’t that long ago haha ... well,to those of us who lived it;).
I was 15 when this hit. We had to be rescued by the National Guard because we only had electric heat. We were taken to a motel. The motel had no water due to frozen pipes. My dad would walk 3 miles in the snow to get us food each day.
Wow! That had to be rough!
Most snow I'd ever seen, it was fun though 😊

Who wakes up and thinks to themselves, yep.. this is much better than going bald? Omg dude... meanwhile, I’ll never forget the blizzard. Wish I could go back In time to enjoy that time of 6-7 days we went.. without power , yet still managed to get by. Was so much fun when we weren’t freezing. I miss the nostalgic times of my youth.. unlike anything else.

That’s right! “Winter Storm ‘93” is what we called it then, and still call it today where I’m from (Birmingham). Idk what this “I Survived the Blizzard of ‘93” mess is.

:( that’s sad. So much has happened in the world since then, yet doesn’t seem that long ago... I miss that time in lot of ways though. God bless his loved ones that have mourned his Loss.. the impact we leave in this world may Only impact 1,2, maybe 3 generations of people And then our legacy and name and any memories we’d made just fade with us, then lay to rest with Those who were in our lives, Once they too have gone, but even still, the pain of loss Can feel like a life time of hurt so deep it never ends... I hope for anyone, that they can live every moment just able to thank God for his love, blessings and provisions and all the gifts and special moments were able to know... to not let hurt n loss and things gone without stop us from living and loving life And those In it... we aren’t guaranteed tomorrow .. it’sa sobering thought to have to actually think about In detail.. so sad Anytime we lose a loved one or even just a familiar name from our past.. you think of folks As invincible sometimes... and the sting of death rings ever painful in running across old footage of memories long gone, as it would in its time.. its strange How looking back into nostalgic times.. they seem so stale.

I never could understand why ppl want to get milk and eggs in these situations if the power goes out for days it wont be any good anyway. I stock up on Chef Boyardee, canned greens and vegis, sodas, etc.
All you have to do is put those items in the mud room, garage or enclosed porch (if you don’t have a generator that is). They’ll stay plenty cold in there.
Right? Get pop tarts and whatever non perishable foods. Who the heck needs milk eggs and bread just bc it’s snowing ? OMG
Yeah umm in the south we don’t have mud rooms etc. haha! And just bc we lose power doesn’t mean the temps stay below freezing for that to even be safe .. yeah of course during the blizzard of 93 we just put our perishables out in the snow drifts haha
