    👍🤩Terrific job. 💝
    😞People are quick to criticize and ask how an owner can let that happen but I’m here to tell you it’s not always neglect. I had a Shih Tzu many years ago and I thought by brushing him every day I was taking good care of his coat. He lived like a King and I took very good care of him. The problem was I didn’t have the correct tools AND I wasn’t getting all the way down to his skin. It doesn’t take long to end up with a matting situation with their long hair. I ended up having him shaved down to a puppy cut and with proper instructions on how to care for his coat, I never ever had that situation again. He lived to be 17 years old. I still miss him. 😭💝

    Remy is so calm and well behaved, I bet he feels better without that matted fur. Thank you, Rudy, for yet another great tutorial!

    I just watched Remy's transformation from a matted dog to a handsome, lovely Shih Tzu. Very nice groom done by you, Rudy. I am a new Subscriber!😊🥰

    I truly appreciate this video. This dog looks amazing! Love to keep dogs long but it’s often so hard. I’ve often thought to myself that it should be possible. You’ve shown it can be done! You’re a skilled and talented professional. Thank you for sharing your expertise ❤

    Really love how he turned out. So glad you kept most of his hair long. If you hold the hair and brush sideways and in various directions, you can work out the mats and tangles before brushing hair downward. Cute little guy. I also spot cut the worst of the tangles. My Shih Tzu gets the worst tangles after a winter walk in the snow. Searching for an underbelly water proof protector (I have little booties for her feet). My vet recommended sun goggles (doggles) for protecting her eyes, but usually we avoid heavy sunshine.

    Rudy this is excellent 👏. I have a Lhasa with hair like the Shih Tzu. Thank you for showing this video. No more brushing even though it's done gently with detangling sprays, cowboy magic, and sometimes cornstarch on a dry coat. Also less time for the dog as will on the table. Wish I saw this sooner especially for that tough mat behind the ears. Awesome Rudy. Subscriber Cyndy!

    Great tip. Shihtzu’s hair so silky, so I try my best to keep my shihtzu puppy’s hair by doing that same way prior to watching ur video tutorial!

    He looks great. I will have to try this, mine has long hair, no bad mats yet but I have to brush it 5 days a week it gets tangled.

    Very nice one and thanks for sharing. Can you please provide the clipper and brush brand and model that you are using or suggest the best one for home use. I have Wahl one but I don't see that is doing good job when compared to the one you shown in this video.

    Amazing technique. I wish I knew this a couple of years ago when I had to groom my two Pekingese with insane mats and no tools, but I learned creativity in grooming techniques by trial and error and everyone came out of the sessions unscathed. It can be very similar to the system of how to bathe a cat. Haha.

    I have a Malshi who is doppleganger to the one in this video! Including some mats which are not too bad so far. Her problem is she is terrified of clippers . . . hoping to desensitize over time. THX!!

    Instead of using clippers how can I do this using scissors or thinners or chunkers

    • @GroomingByRudy
      @GroomingByRudy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be to dangerous to us scissors or thinners on a badly matted coat..

    I also wonder how this pup is so white! I have a black and white Shih Tzu that I rescued. She was in bad shape as well. I’ve never been able to rid her of the rusty marks on her face and paws. She’s not licking her paws ?

  • @r2b2.
    @r2b2. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is her matted because his owner did not brush him or is it natural for shih tzu coats to mat

  • @trixiegirlism
    @trixiegirlism 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Most groomers won't take the time to cut out the mats and just shave them. You did an amazing job. However, dog owners that let their dogs get in that shape shouldn't have a breed that is long haired. Although I keep my Shih Tzu trimmed fairly short on body, I still comb her out every day. it doesn't take that long.

  • @christofrannie

    What happened to Remy? Rudy did an amazing job on cutting those mats out.. most groomers will just give the shih tzu a summer cut and call it a day.. that is my worst nightmare..
