    Thanks for the brilliant advice. So easy to save seeds for next year from marigolds, sunflowers and nasturtiums. 💚

    Repelling mosquitoes in more northern regions too. Mosquitos are very big and abundant in Canada, even if the species present here don't carry as many diseases (they do carry West Nile Virus in parts of Canada though).

    I'm having some problems with my Nasturtium. They're home to some green caterpillars. Do you have any advice? How can I get rid of them?

      Hello! Thank you so much for the support, I really appreciate it! I’d recommend to use nasturtium as sacrificial plants so if they are full of pests it’s a good sign so your other plants won’t get affected :)

    Can I ask you about the ladybirds? Should I buy the larvae or the actual ladybirds? Not sure which is best. Thank you.

    • @SpicyMoustache
      @SpicyMoustache  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually but the larvae. In my opinion, they seem to get better established if they evolve from larvae to pupa and ladybird in the garden. Some people claim to release adult ladybird and they fly away but if there’s enough food and places where they can overwinter, you’ll have plenty each season :)

    Can you get marigold and simply have them in pots next to tomatoes and they still work to control pests?

    • @SpicyMoustache
      @SpicyMoustache  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, they will attract predatory insects and repel some kind of pests and no, you won’t have the symbiotic effect of the roots

      There is one special French Lavender that grows in the south of Provence that can survive in central Florida--specialty videos on TH-cam about it v. English lavenders...and there is always lilac.
      *Not to be a downer in marigolds which are two foot tall all over my garden, but one hugely important caveat, that I am in the middle if now in Spring, but unbothered because my vegs. this year, because I didn't plant ANY brassicas:
      White canbGe moths love Marigolds, place is teeming with them, so I looked it up. I plant all the other flowers you mentioned as always...If you have cabbage, broccoli, spinach, and more, they will eat the leaves. Lay eggs and caterpillars kill them. Never companion plant marigolds anywhere in your yard, if you are growing (sib, I love those Mari's so prolific, returning, and easy).

    I noticed all the aphids suddenly vanished from my roses and veggies...
    Turns out they all moved to the copious calendula that volunteered this year. It’s the most effective trap plant I’ve used so far!
