The only people who really knew each other from before were Mike and Angelina: they'd had a fling before Jersey Shore and he suggested her to the producers during casting. Then, when they were both at the house, she was seeing someone else and Mike thought Sammi was hot, so he went for Sammi (and failed) and Mike tried to distance himself from Angelina.
