PART 2 of my 2 year update is now live. Answering popular questions people ask me about living in a motorhome: th-cam.com/video/ng2CvsADnQE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gbT6OCAO7h_M7NH7 Thanks for watching 🙏
Thanks for sharing your tips and thoughts. I'm considering full time motorhome living in a few years, so I'd be really grateful if you talked about some more general issues that you come across when full-timing. E.g. how many nights each month do you wild camp? How easy it it to find nice parking spots? How challenging is it coping with a cassette toilet/emptying etc? How well does that layout suit full time living? I'm particularly interested because that's the layout I think I want- with a good sized front lounge, and maybe a pull down or overcab bed. You now have tons of really valuable experience and info that newbies would love to hear, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who is hoping you'll continue with your videos.
Hey there! Thanks so much for the encouragement, I did plan on talking about those things in this video but the footage wasn't quite up to standard as I didn't really plan what I was going to say and I waflle a lot 🤦 so I ended up cutting all that out and making the video shorter. I think my situation may differ a bit to other full timers but I do plan on sharing more about the logistics of living in a van like this as well as costs and issues etc. As for the layout of this van, I went to a retailer of campervans and motorhomes and made sure to get a good feel for what kind of space I wanted, initially I planned on something much smaller, but then sitting inside multiple vans gave me a much better idea for what would be comfortable, I figured like yourself I needed a lounge space and separate bed, it doesn't feel like a compromise at all I love it in there it's super cosy, like a little apartment ❤️ I then bought it second hand from a private seller as they were so much more expensive at the retailers.
Hey again, I kicked myself up the a** after your comment and looked back over the footage I took... It's not perfect and there's lots I would change but actually I was being too hard on myself and there's stuff in there you'd probably be interested in as well as other people so I'm just going to finish the video and post it. Shouldn't be long 😊👍
@@motorhomownerdan well thank you very much for that detailed reply. I just cannot understand why a big front lounge like yours is not more popular- but the majority have rear lounges or rear fixed beds, with maybe just a front dinette. Everyone has their own preferences and tolerances for small spaces I guess. Some people cite the added difficulties of driving as a reason to choose a van conversion over a coachbuilt motorhome, and they say that being in a taller/wider motorhome restricts access to some places they visit. My feeling on that is that we all choose our compromise points, and I would rather lose out on visiting a few places if it means I feel happier 90% of the time I'm inside, because its more spacious. Perhaps you could cover the topic of driving and parking challenges (and how you get around them), in a future video?
Absolutely I feel the same, there are times where I feel something smaller or even something more discrete like a stealth-camper would be helpful, but the trade-off in space for me personally doesn't seem worth it if you're doing full time. And actually most places you can fit and I've not been moved on once yet. Really appreciate the conversation, the next video is poorly planned as I said but going to try dress it up and post it anyway, then I will be looking back at these messages when planning future videos as it can be difficult to come up with ideas, so please keep em coming 😁🙏
@@motorhomownerdan well thank you Dan for replying to my queries. In terms of issues to talk about in future videos, I'm more than happy to post any questions I have that might suggest possible video content. For the time being I can only give a broad suggestion that all aspects of day to day life are interesting to a would-be vehicle dweller. How do you manage during weather variations- e.g. just how unpleasant is a motorhome during heatwaves? And what can you do to improve comfort? What kind of heating do you have, and it is effective? How easy is it to replace the heater fuel (gas, diesel or whatever)? Are you mainly urban based, or do you wander more into rural areas? Do you visit beauty spots like Scotland or the Lakes etc? I feel like there is no end to the curiosity of would-be vanlifers, and there might be especial interest because its a motorhome. Is there a social scene of sorts among vanlifers? Do many of them engage in chatting or whatever when parked nearby, or are they taciturn? How easy is it to find places where you can fill up with water, and also to empty grey water tanks? How did the process of buying privately work out? Are there any pitfalls that nearly tripped you up, or is it no more risky than buying from a dealer? Not all of these sorts of topics will have video footage to go with a discussion (eg you wont have filmed the buying process), but they might still be of interest with you just discussing the topic whilst sat in or near to the motorhome. I think the great majority of vehicle dwellers use vans, so as a motorhomer you are in something of a niche, so I bet there is a lot of latent interest. Good luck!
Hi there, sorry I only just seen your comment! You can find them on Amazon if you type in waffle cushion covers or something like that. I wanted to add a link in the description but YT doesn't allow it until you've reached 1000subs 🤷 thanks for watching 😁
Fanks shell bell 🙏❤️ yeah was pretty lazy just sticking the camera through the sun roof to see the solar panel 😂😂 but I got some proper footage of when it all got fitted so will start again making that video soon, almosy mentally recovered from the loss 😭😂 x
Cheers Jamie mate appreciate that! Going to try and keep the motivation rolling and get straight to making another video 👍 And yeah thanks it was never a plan of mine to move into a van but I've absolutely loved it. Once it's paid off I could sell it for a deposit on a house but I really don't think I'll be ready to move out of it in 3 years, I'm loving it too much haha
Hey thanks Michael! 👍 yes the TV is 240v, I was struggling to find a suitable 12v that covered all bases for me, picture quality, size, Bluetooth, sound, you need an inverter to use 240v when off grid and they use more electricity but I thought it was worth it and the power setup I have can handle it so why not 😊

Just came across your video. I really enjoyed it. Hope you do more, mate.
Cheers Kev
Thank you Kev! 😊
Wow, a long wait to see the new seat covers!
Was it worth it? Surely it's been the best part of your day so far? 😂🙏❤️
Where are your seat covers from? I've got throws on my beige cushions and would like some decent covers, cheers x

Hey Dan, great video! Love the layout of your home. What make/model/year is it?
Hi there, it's a 2010 Fiat Ducato - Bessacarr E450. Thanks for watching 😁
You should do more videos. The MH is looking very nice. How have you found living in a MH for the past 2 years? Are you enjoying it?
Cheers Jamie mate appreciate that! Going to try and keep the motivation rolling and get straight to making another video 👍

Nice video Dan. Subscribed and looking forward to more.
I checked out that TV and I think it's a 240v is that right?
