    As a parent who is supporting her daughter 100%, this helped me to understand why she is doing the steps she’s taking to achieve her goal. Thank you and God bless you❤

    My school said the PACAT exam is not what they really look at. They said GPA is what they look at

    Did you take a gap year to complete the Patient Care Hours ? If you did not, can you share with us how you did all those hours while you were in college

    • @sutrahjoseph
      @sutrahjoseph  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, I did a lot of hours throughout college through my volunteering (medical assistant and clinical research) But my last year I did paid patient care as a resident assistant/med tech (very similar to a CNA). I also took a gap year to continue my PCE to increase my hours to above average and I wanted a break from school. Hope that was helpful!

    So did you apply to CASPA in the spring and take a required course in the summer? I never took medical terminology in college since I am a scribe but I need to take that for a lot of schools that I am interested in. I really do not want to have to wait another year to apply.

    • @sutrahjoseph
      @sutrahjoseph  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I took the course right after graduating in the summer and applied the following spring. Contact the schools to ask if you can apply while taking the course, some might let you do that. Hope that helped!

    do you think pursuing a post-bac or a masters degree is a good idea if you have a lower undergraduate GPA, and would PA schools consider this?

    • @sutrahjoseph
      @sutrahjoseph  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it’s worth it if the post-bac is in the science fields. This shows you are capable of rigorous science courses, which is ultimately what they are looking for. Hope this helps.

    Any recommendations of how to find someone to shadow?

    • @sutrahjoseph
      @sutrahjoseph  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, if you’ve ever worked at or have friends that have worked in a clinic, ask around to see if they know any PAs that would be willing to accept you as a shadow. Express your interest in the field and their specialty! Look in different cities, don’t limit yourself 💕

    • @jlei1995
      @jlei1995 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try volunteering at hospitals. They love volunteers and you will meet several MDs and PAs as well that you can ask to shadow. 😃

    Hi thank you for this video I am a junior in high school and really looking into being a pa!! A few questions if you have the chance- I am planning not to take a gap year and I am wondering how it would be possible to get certification during undergrad? Are these programs in the summer or are they balanced alongside school work and everything else? Are there ones you specifically recommend for undergrad? Tysm!

    • @sutrahjoseph
      @sutrahjoseph  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! It is possible to get certified during undergrad. Just find a flexible program that works with your schedule. And they do also have summer programs, so u should be fine! Most medical assistant programs are around 3 months. So try to enroll when you’re least busy. Hope that helps and good luck!

    500 hours of shadowing? Wow! What do you think is a good range?

    • @sutrahjoseph
      @sutrahjoseph  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! I think a good range is 100-500 hrs. Hope that helps (500 is a bit much I agree)
