"Finally it is mine! The power to create miracles, once possessed only by the gods! The black wings of omnipotence! Take up your sword, Adol the Red!" Man idc if he didn't have much time to shine he still is my favorite Ys antagonist to this day. Just so fucking raw and a perfect way to conclude the Eldeen storyline.
@glezard212 I've never tried that series myself. It kinda gave me persona vibes from what I saw which I'm not really into. I don't think it's bad I just don't really like that style with all the relationship building. I wanna try metaphor but it seems a lot like persona so I'm a little gun shy
@@nicogalax I know it's suppose to be the end of Eldeen sub-plot/arc but because it's a very standalone game it didn't really feel like an endgame to everything Ys has built up for due to it being not very connected to past games.
@@MinhLe19303 exactly, the only things we knew about Ernst was that he was Frieda's husband, he's from Danan, and probably a Darkling....lol he had more backstory in Celceta than here, I think the real end of this storyline will come when Adol goes to Romn, that place is the source of all and has more buildup than anything but we need to wait till Ys 11
Not necessarily as he is more of a tie-in antagonist and while he doesn't appear much in the game his impact on the plot shows he was a competent and well thought out enemy towards Adol.
I highly doubt Ys 11 will focus on the romn empire getting ended by Adol. Imo doing so will let Falcom end the franchise because the darklings and romns are the major threat in the narrative despite individual antagonists bound to each game like Galbalan, Dark Fact, Eldeel/Arem etc..
@@VonFirflirch If I recall correctly the game DOES warn you that it's a point of no return, but I can still imagine players getting cocky and saving only on one file. I was especially confident since I was able to beat the boss before Ernst, but then he gave me a wake up call. Thankfully Oath (and I assume Origin as well) learned from this and decided to NOT have the final area/boss behind a point-of-no-return.
It makes me feel weird that I heared this in a Fire Emblem hack first. Also this track is epic and Ernst is the inoffical final boss for me in terms of difficulty.
@@statesminds To Ernst, I think he's still healing a 10% because of his immense HP. The fact that you have to outdamage him makes his healing annoying.

This song is so cool. Does Ernst remind anyone else of Arios from Trails? Wonder if was on purpose haha
Maybe, though they had different designers.
Possibly my favorite Ishibashi song. Thank you, you absolute king. Rest in peace. 👑

@@abdullaal-naimi9075 Ys games haven't gone anywhere lol. The last games have been amazing.
I didnt know falcom music was ALWAYS THIS GOOD
As the intro suggests, he's kind of a harpy.
This feels like the proper successor to Final Battle from Ys I, plus Moon Over the Castle.
"Everything i feel is in this sword!"
"Hmph. Then here I come."
Really like the beginning melody starting at 0:05
Amazing composition, the arrangement is quite nice, too. Very energetic track, really like the melodies here.
Ys is the best rpg series in my opinion and it's criminally underrated and unknown. The stories, writing, music, characters, combat, all top tier
Nan Dragon quest takes top in that
@glezard212 I find it too simple. I like it but I put other rpgs above it. Lots agree with you though
@@VileHearts only other game that would top the ya series is the Trails of series. Though I’m not a fan of that series

@ I’ve played the persona series and I’ll admit person 5 is my second favorite besides nocturnal
Reminds me of the first Ys game final battle with Dark Fact
Honestly this sounds like it could have been the swan song of the Ys series especially 1:23 - 1:42 and 1:57 - 2:23
In some ways it is a send off. A final shout for the Eldeen arc in the chronology before the lore went elsewhere.
Never played this game before, but the overlap of the deeper and higher notes at 1:23 is music to my ears.
Trying to beat Ernst in Time Attack Nightmare Catastrophe for 10+ hours fucking broke me and my fingers.
Oof, was looking so long for this track. All I could remember was it opened with discordant violins that sounded like crows.
Ernst feels out of nowhere as a major antagonist though.
He kinda is, Naphitism is the end of Ys1 storyline even if he appears out of nowhere lol
