- The African locust bean is a perennial deciduous tree of the Fabaceae family. It is found in a wide range of environments in Africa and is primarily grown for its pods that contain both a sweet pulp and valuable seeds. Where the tree is grown, the crushing and fermenting of these seeds constitutes an important economic activity.
Bringing viewers the history of fashion and the origin of designs, SPICE Origins will delve into the history of the fashion world; traditions, trade, trends and names to know. New episode shows on Saturdays at 2:00 PM (+1HR CAT) Spice TV Dstv CH192.
WORST TRANSLATION SUBTITLES I HAVE EVER SEEN. SMH
Apparently they buy the seeds from the market. Then they wash it and cook it
😂😂😂 Translation was a bit too simplistic
Hahaha 🤣
It seems like they were talking ten times more than the translation suggests.
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
VERY lazy subtitling! You should not have bothered since you clearly didn’t want to do it.
All our natural foods in west africa is health medicine
I was hoping to learn something from this... Unfortunately the translator considers us all idiots. Yes I know they buy it from the market, obviously. What the fuck????
Then we wash and cook it..lool. that cant be all that was said
Educative, thanks very much for sharing this video. Kudos to African Mamas.
I swear this must be Yoruba!! I understand everything she's saying!! Thank you grandpa and grandma for teaching me Yoruba!! Ba be be bi bo bo bu!!! Ese gan!!!
Can you translate in more detail about "washing and cooking." Thank you!
@@annieel3938 Annie I just watched the video again. I cannot translate because I am just crying because I understand everything. My Yoruba has come back even more powerfully. The women were talking about how they would go to the market to purchase the raw locust beans and then begin their preparations. Locust beans has a pungent smell. But the taste is out of this world!! It is unbelievable that something that aromatic could taste so good!!!!!!! In fact, I just used some in a soup an hour ago!!!! Got it at Adom African Market here in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
I'm sure they're talking about how they ferment it, but this is extremely frustrating for those who do not speak Yoruba.
@@Cheryliiina I will translate the whole video. Should be done by Saturday. Sorry!
@@brokerhenry that's awesome. Thank you! Maybe you'll want to upload your own improved version.
I love locus beans !!! I put it in my noodles, rice , .... EVERTHING
oh wow, should try it
Inside NOODLES??? YOU NEED JESUS AND ALL THE HOSTS OF HEAVEN
it makes food taste DELICIOUS but my goodness it smells like a million donkey's asses, never smelled a donkey's ass before but i'm sure it smells like this, can't wait till i move to my own flat so i can use the beans in my cooking again hahha XD
lolololol! they do smell horrible, that's why I was afraid to cook it, I have some but have not cooked them yet.
Tyra Hairston you have to wash it, the smell leaves after you cook it and it starts to smell very very delicious after. I could give you a Yoruba stew recipe that can be eaten with anything, from rice to bread to pounded morsels
@@tobifalola8483 yes I would love to have the recipe
This subtitle is so inadequate
Yoruba language..but I don't understand
“We buy the beans from the market...and then we wash and cook it.” I agree very inadequate
These women hold pride in the amount of labor that goes into processing these plants, too bad I'll never know that process. Maybe I'm a little hangry but disrespecting the translation like that has me feeling some type of way.
Captions are not good.
omg
But why does this smell though??
because it smells?
Why does cheese smell??? It's because of the microbes during the fermentation process.
Anyone know where I can find this in Georgia?
The seed or the cooked one?
Acro International Food Distributors in Tucker, GA.
Another branch in Riverdale.
Hope this helps.....
Why does locust beans smell?Like where is the smell coming from?😌😌
Adeola Aishat Bacteria is created during the fermentation, like with cheese.
I guess the fermentation process
