    Octopussy is one of those underrated Bond movies that a lot of people put down for stupid reasons, such as the clown scenes (which I actually think are good) and the silly title.
    It does have some moments that are way too goofy (Tarzan yell), but it also has great action, villains and a good couple of Bond girls. Also, I can see how the plot may be a bit confusing on a first watch, but if you pay careful attention, it does make sense. Although Kamal's motivation is indeed never 100% clearly stated.

    • @TheMovieJourney
      @TheMovieJourney 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheMovieJourney Kamal's motivation is avarice; the Soviet general is paying him off jewels and Kamal's moral depravity has no qualms about the nuclear holocaust his cooperation intends. This movie appeared during a second cold war where the issues discussed and political tensions displayed here were real. A presence like the Soviet general could've been disastrous in those tenuous years. Despite the issues with the clown suit, Moore's desperation and struggles to stave off destruction in that sequence was as real as anything in Bond.

    Octopussy is the funnest and most entertaining Bond film ever. I'm not saying it's the best, I'm just saying it's the most entertaining. It's the one Bond film that if you watch it with a group of people it's guaranteed to entertain everyone. Love this film!

    Octopussy is a fine swan song for Roger Moore. Too bad it wasn't his swan song.
    And while this movie is undoubtedly inspired in part by Raiders of the Lost Ark, it's not as shameless in its trend-chasing as some of Moore's earlier adventures.

    • @williamquinlan6153
      @williamquinlan6153 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trend chasing is what the Bond films do. Don't single Roger out because of bias. That's why they're valuable cultural time capsules. But Bond movies are trend setters as well. Most all the spy genre in TV and movies, and their elements, come from the success of the franchise which debuted in the 60s. The creators of the Indiana Jones series have said their franchise was inspired by Bond.
