The music and lyrics are from "Angel" (天使 "tenshi"), originally written by Kitamura Masashi (北村昌士) for "Canis Lupus." The song appeared on the 1990 album, "Aqua Perspective." th-cam.com/video/OAlaPPvn7qM/w-d-xo.html
The original lyrics (some expressions are ambiguous) describe falling for an inaccessible "angel" who wears light blue lipstick. They approximate as:
Flame of a candle, smell of alcohol
Lifted my ears and heard your voice
I'll meet you soon, I'll be there soon
I want twilight angel milk
Caged bird of a distant night
Blue colored rouge
Searching for an open door
No matter how far you walk, never home
Twilight walking through dry fields
Flower petals will cross in the wind some day
Disappear into your dozing dream
I'll meet you soon, I'll be there soon
I want twilight angel wings
Caged bird of a distant night
Blue colored rouge
Searching for an open door
No matter how far you walk, never home
Twilight walking through dry fields

Kitamura Masashi died in 2006, and Wata's 2007 version of the song is a beautiful homage to both Kitamura and to the Japanese musical style that influenced much of her own work.
EDIT:
Wata in a recently posted live studio version of "Angel" (天使 "Tenshi") with Boris and Michio Kurihara:

A posible reference? "Wata" (ワータ "water")... the blue lipstick "Angel" of Kitamura's *fading* memories from "Aqua Perspective". (Teaser for the album, "fade", and a piece that translates as, "Prologue: The Trident Road".)

Thank you so much for these information. Really one of these song one interested to know the meaning or idea behind it. It’s emotional chaotic mixed with pleasure especially the solo hits in,
Words cannot explain the feeling wata expresses witty her guitar, the change in volume is dynamics every musician in the world does it, otherwise the music would sound flat.. Boris just uses more frequencies and goes louder than most but I think that's where there admirable sound comes from..
Why are so many people butthurt about the solo? Its fucking brilliant! It doesn't have to be technical to have emotion
she is a master at tone, and this track isolates and highlights it so well
Saw Boris a couple of weeks ago. They didn’t play this but I’m not disappointed, it was memorable, even quite legendary to see this ancient band. That song though, cuts deep. years after years
I recommend you find the album of this. The other side has Ai Aso covering a king crimson song and the record comes with a book of a photo shoot of both musicians.
I think I paid about 30 dollars shipped from Japan for it. The book is really nice as I’m also a photographer
wata is such an underrated guitarist
Some people don't understand how music works, and think you must be fast to be good. These bends are well calculated, the tone puts it out there, and the sustained notes pull a slower emotion, which is the goal.
this solo if from wata, in the credits of the ep says: Vocals, Lead Guitar: Wata
astoundly beautiful song, and wata's guitar at the end is mesmerising, would love it if boris would do a full lp of this type of stuff
This was a real treat when it originally came out, no need to wonder if Wata knows how play that guitar before and this just compounds it. She has a really nice voice, would be cool to have at least an EP of her doing this kind of material.

I melt everytime the solo begins
No, Wata is lead guitar, Michio is backing.
Love the solo.
The solo is extremely fun to wail on. I can almost play the whole sequence. If only my high-e string didn't snap off. :(
Yknow she plays downtuned three or three and a half steps, to A or Bb, right? You won't snap it then ;)
Yes. Currently, my guitar's in drop-A (A-E-A-D-G-B). My strings were just old and it snapped back then. I'm all set-up now. haha.
beautiful. I just fell for her.
Pure BLISS!!! Wata, drone goddess
@pancakerepairman They do give a lot of credit to their Orange amps. It's really a cult to orange wall's :D and a LP Custom of course. I assure you credit has been given where credit was due, but this beautiful sound is more then mere guitars or amps.
every atmospheric dreampop song should have an epic screaming solo to kick out the jams...
Where can I find the King Crimson cover that they do on the A side of this EP? Where youtube?!?!?!? WHERE!???!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi.. yes have 'attention please' like very much current phase of Boris.. this track however still I think is very much one of their best.. (cos it is boris really if you look at the credits on the single). hope you are well.
i've been hunting the internet for great female guitarists. win. move over, boys
@wolvesnrp It's likely people are picking up on the feeling put into it. It isn't about technicality.
so dreamy..
trance like in all her dark beauty..
Awesome
Brilliant.
I don't know if Michio is doing the solo or not. I don't believe so, because I can recognize Wata's tone.
I wish I still had the mp3 for this.
lol that's the problem with boris sometimes, that somep people get the leads confused. Awesome either way.
Does anyone have any live recordings of this? It was mentioned in a passing youtube comment that they did it live at least once....
I wish there’s a guitar lesson on this song
yeah, honestly didn't know Wata was the guitarist in the band until digging deeper..but whatever. If your beautiful and happen to be talented, you will recieve just as much hate and discredit it seems.
lovely.

Can somebody tell me something about the lyrics?
+Hristiyana Miteva The lyrics are from "Angel" (天使 "tenshi") written by Kitamura Musashi (北村昌士) for the Japanese band "Canis Lupus." It appeared on their album "Aqua Perspective." The lyrics are in three parts: First describes the desperate emptiness felt after falling for an inaccessible "silver colored angel," a woman who wears light blue lipstick. Next describes becoming homesick, possibly for an alien planet after being enlightened by an encounter with a "super-being." Last is a lament that the psychedelic ecstasy of marijuana is illegal.
+Hristiyana Miteva Carefully listening, Wata sings the first part of Kitamura's lyrics. Then, the second part is her own writing, expanding on the memory of the event. As best as I can hear, that part goes something like... "Flower petals after wind, fading memory of you disappearing into dream, we will meet soon, soon over there, twilight angel, I want to have wings, a long ago night with you, light-blue rouge, looking for an open door, never reach your home while walking long, holding on to hazy memories." She replaces Kitamura's third part with her guitar solo. Beautiful song.
+Kuroitombo This is simply amazing... Thank you with all my heart. It means a lot!
In return I can write you a small poem if you like :) Just tell me for what you want it to be!
+Hristiyana Miteva Thank you, but no worries. I rather enjoyed the song. And thanks to "accountbaby," as the pressing was very limited and not likely to be heard otherwise.
this fucking destroys
Amazing. XD
Chords?
@wolvesnrp yeah, I totally get you man. Who actually uses distortion? Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, Agata? You're right, this solo is only "AMAZING" cuz it's really loud. Makes sense to me.
The solo reminds me of Pink Floyd
I don't need it...I got the 7" single....be jealous

could someone explain to me why this solo is exceptional. she plays it on a really loud amp OH WOW cool. too bad it would be boring as fuck if it weren't
if half your solo is just holding sustained notes the amp deserves more credit than the guitarist
In the feels rn
Well, let's be realistic here. Wata is a decent guitarist, but is by no means astounding like some make her out to be. Basically, if you're a good looking chick, whatever talent you have gets magnified about 10 times in the eyes (or ears) of fanboys. If she was in the same band, playing the exact same guitar riffs and solos- but she happened to be a guy (or even a 300 lb ugly female) she would not get all the attention as some kind awesome guitarist. Fact.
1.) she looks normal.
2.)A bao a qu single, (dvd version) the beginning solo.
3.)Rainbow in gensho.
It does not matter whether she's astounding or not. That kind of playing is nowhere to be seen on the entire earth. That is astounding. You are being more sexist than the people you are trying to criticize. She's a great guitarist.
i keep coming back to this song, i just arrived in 2023, and i chose that i wanted this to be the first song to listen to in 2023, one of the most beautiful songs ever made
