    One of the best videos about them I've seen. I like that you have the experience to ask really great questions, but that you made a short video so it's accessible for the rest of us. Yay for youtube recommends and I found you.

    Curtis, thanks for the great talk in Sebastapol. It was a pleasure to meet you in person(tall guy with round short guy). You are the man and I appreciate everything you do. Way to be cranking the content while on the road!

    Holy shit, Curtis! This was an awesome segment! Kind of a novice, so I'll have to go back and watch again. But some real densely planted info, high-grade, bro! Hope to meet up with y'all at pv3!!

    Curtis this is where you buy a vineyard and sell your wine while you teach people how to grow their own vineyard. Great show with nice and clear people.

    Absolutely awesome to see this working in areas of low water availability. Where I'm based we have water restrictions (total sprinkler ban in winter and 2 watering days over summer). Thanks.

    This was so great can singing frogs farm put together an online course?????????? I think if they went more in-depth into their systems people would be willing to pay for this amazing knowledge. Their are a few market gardening courses out, but Their approach seems to be the best at emulating nature and building soil and a farm enterprise profitably.

    Would it be possible for a video explaining what hedge rows are and how to use them? I just searched TH-cam with no success.

      @offgridcurtisstone  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +sinestroPB It's not really my area of expertise to be honest. We will be publishing a bonus episode of The Urban Farmer podcast tonight that will talk about this. Find it here. It'll be episode 41. www.permaculturevoices.com/the-urban-farmer-show/

    Great story Curtis. Saw you're adopting no till. How does direct seeding work using no till?

    • @offgridcurtisstone
      @offgridcurtisstone  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +paradisefarms On my farm, it's the same way as if I tilled. I prepare a bed with the Tilther, which tills the top half in of soil. So, I still have a clean and level bed. The way they do it at Singing Frogs Farm is to transplant everything.

    • @cherrytreepermaculture756
      @cherrytreepermaculture756 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Urban Farmer Curtis Stone that's intense. Some crops seem impossible to transplant like carrots, or uneconomical like arugula or baby kale. Do they just avoid those types of crops? Enjoy PV3

    • @stevelarson4925
      @stevelarson4925 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They still direct seed carrots, radishes, peas, beans, arugula, mizuna, cilantro and spinach directly into the compost on the top of the beds. I just went to a workshop there a couple of months ago.

    • @rickhatch4110

      Dirtpatcheaven me as well, any tips for managing it? pulling it out would be a full time job.

    • @dirtpatcheaven
      @dirtpatcheaven 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      we set ducks over it and they eat out the roots

    • @rickhatch4110
      @rickhatch4110 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dirtpatcheaven I'll give that a try, rotation grazing my muscovies in the areas with bindweed. I thought about doing that this fall, confining them to a certain area for a short time using poly tunnels

    • @buffalo_chips9538
      @buffalo_chips9538 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Prepare your beds in the early fall. tarp with silage tarp for the winter. Plan for planting those areas last. The longer the tarp is on the more successful the kill.

  • @brittanyarbanas6975
    @brittanyarbanas6975 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Do they use cover crops? How do they manage them, such as killing the crop at the proper time and getting rid of it?

    • @offgridcurtisstone
      @offgridcurtisstone  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Britt Arbanas I don't think they do. Their beds looked like they were in production all year round.

    • @fouroakfarm
      @fouroakfarm 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Britt Arbanas They cut the plants leaving the root in the ground and then immediately plant new plugs/transplants. Their system requires a lot of labor but still has a very high net income

  • @Tito_vibes
    @Tito_vibes 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    can their system of hedge rows be included into a urban setting like yours? and is your system considered no till like theres? I really appreciate your content.. its honest and informative!
