If I had kept track of it as I moved in and out of work-places and countries, I would still be listening to the Crystal Set which my big sister made for my birthday when we both at a UK school in the '60's. I would listen to it under my bed-clothes every night until the head-phones fell off. I lack her tenacity, abilities and skills, but stumbling across your channel has awoken my memories and interests. It was the best present she ever gave me.
I made the crystal radio videos because I saw that some people who were new to the game were having trouble. Initially it was going to be just one video but it grew.
I put up a corrected version th-cam.com/video/0p3-3ClptBg/w-d-xo.html There was a bit of a dumb error where I said the null of reception was the wrong direction
Those small loops in the wire at the T joints will hurt the efficiency of the antenna by a lot. The better way would be to put notches in the t joints for the wires to set in, about a 1/4" apart.
Part of my goal was to not modify any of the plumbing parts. Your observations are correct[1]. Also if I had more gap between the wires, the stray capacitance would be less and I could likely have used 5 or 6 turns. [1] I did make the loops over the T joints so they all went around the same direction. This meant I added some inductance in the process.

Found you through your comment on Emma Thorne’s Bigfoot video 😊I think my husband will like your channel!

Sería. Bueno. Traducir. En. Pantalla. Con. Letras. En. Español.
Google translate did poorly.
Do you suggest I add spanish text?
I don't know spanish.
Would google translate from english help?
I think at the end you give the wrong direction of the null.
You are correct. Well spotted. I spent so much time on other bits that that one got away from me. This weekend, I will have to correct it.

TH-cam won't allow the replacement of videos
@@kensmith5694 Thanks. TH-cam makes it hard for corrections.
