  • A while back I purchased a Feiyue FY01 Fighter-1 1/12 scale RC short course truck I found on sale for around $65. I thought It would make a good platform for a custom build so I made the purchase. I decided to use a Pro-Line Racing 1972 Chevrolet Pickup for the body. In this video I take a look at the Feiyue Fighter-1 and share my thoughts on the vehicle, as well as discuss some plans for turning this vehicle into an epic and unique Prerunner.
    More information about the Fighter-1 can be found here: www.banggood.c...

    Really looking forward to seeing how this build progresses, lots of Ideas floating around in my head of how I want the finished truck to look. Let me know what you think, and what modifications you want to see me do.

      Kade Hinojos do you have an update? Im trying to do the same. I want to stretch the rear to fit a 1/10 scale silverado truck. Any tips? Do i have to also stretch the front also or just the rear? What about wider? Do i have to do that or i can keep it 1/12 stock wide? Thanks in advance

    Axial yeti jr 1/18 tires are 80mm fit a 1.55" wheel and can be stretched onto 1.7" wheels For a wider tread pattern and a lower profile look. I find with them stretched on the 1.7's they perform even better I found in my case. Mind you the extra weight of the wheels I got also helps.

    I would use 1.9" wheels and tires, like the stock ones for an old tamiya f150. Also, I would keep the 3D printed bedsides separate from the lexan, just like beds and cabs are separate on fullsize pickup trucks, and they flex independently.

    I built a mini slash from a mini erevo chassis. I bought 1/10 rally style wheels and tires for a couple bucks on Amazon. Fit and work great! Hope this helps. Love ur projects, keep it up man!

    Ha i seen this on amazon a couple days ago and thought of using it for the same thing on an F150 i built a prerunner years ago and never finished. I used mini LST a-arms, rc4wd kings, and bud my own bulkhead, braketube cage blah blah.
    Sick build tho man

    I'm so glad you're doing this, I've been eyeing up this model for months and I think I'm gonna follow your lead and try and 3d print the back end! I look forward to the next update!!!

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think with enough filler and sanding, a back end to the cab can be seamlessly added. Maybe not the most durable addition, but that's not something I'm concerned about on this build. Hoping to make some more progress on this build in the coming weeks!

    • @Ben.g762
      @Ben.g762 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make It RC have you not thought about making a mould of the fenders with your 3d printer and then heating and stretching some polycarbonate over it, kind of like a ghetto vacuum forming.

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have thought about that, however my plan right now is to print the fenders ~2-3mm thick, and smooth the surface of the part with filler and resin. Then "bolt" the fenders on to the body. The design I'm currently playing around with for the front fenders and bedsides is pretty wild, not just a basic fender flare. Vacuum forming the design I'm currently working with would probably be a bit tricky and would add an extra step/time to the build that I'm not sure is worth it.

    how would you mod this to make it waterproof?

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would need to replace all the stock electronics with water proof ones. Or maybe waterproof some electronics using an epoxy or similar waterproofing technique.

    If im not mistaken RC4WD has 1.5 wheel and rim.Also it comes in a black or white which I think would look fantastic.Great work with this channel.Could I ask what camera or phone your using?Thanks for your time✌

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment, I'll check out those RC4WD wheels. I'm using a Canon T3i DSLR for filming, It's a nice camera but I think it's around 8 years old now so It's not exactly the latest tech, and It doesn't have an auto focus while filming.

  • @SianaGearz

    I guess it should be possible to reverse engineer the steering servo. I think what they did here is to integrate the servo function into the control board and have a dumb servo, where two wires go straight from H-bridge on the control board to the motor, and two are used to somehow read the potentiometer... on servos that can be disassembled, it should be possible to rewire them similarly.

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't look like I'd be hard to figure out, but considering how cheap good mid-range RC electronics can be, to me at least It just makes sense to do a more thorough upgrade.

    is it just me or does the Feiyue look like the wltoys one....

  • @alexvernyi2368
    @alexvernyi2368 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am kind of interested in using one of these Feiyue truck's to make a 1/10 pre-runner muscle car, like the Camaro from Furious 7; but I can't find the wheelbase and the axle width from hex to hex. Could you get me these measurements?

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wheelbase is approximately 250mm and the axle width with no wheels is around 210mm. Good luck with your project.

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, they sell this chassis under a lot of different names/body designs. I'm pretty sure all the components are interchangeable.

    • @liamturner6424
      @liamturner6424 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make It RC yeah. I looked for some upgrades for the wltoys version and the name of the truck you was working on came up and a couple otheres. But they all fit into all tge trucks. And its a bit expensive but look up and upgrade kit for this truck. Replace the suspension peices with metal ones. It will be alot stronger and look waayyy better then the original plastic
