- Charles Dickens, one of the greatest writers in English literature, was born 200 years ago. 'The Teacher' from BBC Learning English becomes Dickens for a day to take you on a trip through London, the city which featured so heavily in his books. Along the way, he teaches some words and expressions. The video starts with an extract from 'Bleak House', one of Dickens's novels.
Great video! Would it be possible to get English subtitles for learners of English as a second language? It think they'd be truly helpful
The most beautiful language on the planet. ♥️
I loved it very much. Please some more. These days, I wondered how many homeless unfortunate people will freeze to death in London ; during the winter nights ?. It is a tough World out there.
in dickens times the people have hard work and no money, today we have a very hard work and no money nothing changed????
Not only in London hole wold have homeless we got very Kazakhstan coldest whether -49 degree
only here cuz of historyclass but nice video
I understand that Mr Dicken's passing away might possibly have been down to the effects of Shell shock caused by being a victim of a railway accident in 1865?
Some of my friends sometimes think I'm scrooge because I don't like to spend money to drink pints of beer along with them but in fact I just save my money to buy my own stuffs because at the moment I'm just getting little money from my work.If I were rolling in money I would spend on me and on them, too.
Well done, BBC Learning English! What a good way to pay tribute to my favourite author on the bicentenary of his birth. :-)
