Could you apply clear polygel on top of the ombre to build apex so you won't mess up the ombre??

Yes that’s what I did. I just didn’t build the apex high enough

How long do they last when doing it this way? I want a temporary set. How do you remove them?

I can’t remember which peel base I used for these nails. The UNT peel base can last for a few hours - a day and the cuticle oil with top coat peel base can last longer but it depends on your application as well.
To remove my nails I use a cuticle pusher and some oil to loosen up the adhesive
