How dare anyone called LFA a failure? From $420,000 USD to $1.6M USD in 4 years (4 folds). This kind of appreciation has exceeded Real Estate in Southern California which increased only 2X during the same period. 99.9% of other brands lose 30% of their value the moments they are driven off dealers’ lots. 1.6M still great value because it keeps appreciating over the years. Lexus vehicles have been known for reliability, low cost of maintenance, high quality and retaining value better than all other brands on the market. Lexus LFA can be driven like a regular car without breaking down like other exotic sports car.
I don’t think anyone expected the LFA to launch to where it is today from a valuation perspective. I think most of the failure remarks largely come from the fact that it didn’t really do anything for Lexus from a sales standpoint.
