Thank you, thank you and thank you!! I’ve simply refused to pay hundreds of bucks on a power cable to replace the stock cable on my Yamaha AS-801 Integrated Amplifier, which is an underrated amplifier in my opinion by many reviewers in 2023. It drives a pair of KLH Kendalls in a two channel set up. My 12 gauge speaker cables are terminated by Audioquest Silver Banana plugs which yielded an astonishing difference in tone and bass response!! I’ve also replaced the jumper bars with silver plated spade, silver jumper cables, which made the entire presentation tighter and more focused. These were all inexpensive tweaks that made a significant difference. When I heard what you said about the Viborg power cables yielding the most noticeable difference among all the Viborg offerings, and at the very reasonable asking price, I said, “now that’s one I can afford”!! So my first move was of course to see if anyone was selling a copy on eBay and as luck would have it, my timing was perfect and I found a copy for $45 bucks!! The box was badly damaged with no info, but the unit was in mint condition, probably a display unit… it is a very substantial cable, very well constructed and weighty. I installed it a few hours ago and I have to say…. This cable is outstanding!! You are spot the Fck on when you said you can instantly hear a marked difference in the sound!!! Vocals are cleaner and more up front…nuances of decay and air around various notes, the plucking of strings…. It’s simply amazing. The KLH Kendalls are a very sensitive (96db) and extremely low noise speaker system. The Yamaha AS-801 is rated at 0.019 Total Harmonic Distortion, so pairing this cable in this system is just killer!!! Piano passages are eerily lifelike!! The differences in source bass material is much more discernible… I was going to pay the $160 bucks regardless, because of your review. But I’m feeling very very lucky to have found one well under a hundred bucks!! To anyone else reading this, if you’re in the fence…jump off of it and get this cable!! It’s a steal at the retail price for what it does!! It’s not just a Cable….it’s a Component!!!

My preamp had a Audiocrast (entry level Viborg brand) power cable with Rhodium plated connections. I upgraded to the Viborg MBU1606 power cable and the difference was remarkable.

Great review! And thanks for the shout out, man! Yeah, the MTR-1501 power cords are fantastic. I just got a third one for my system recently! Amazing difference they can make. Good to hear about their other cables as well. I’m intrigued to try them. Thanks!

I fully agree with this review since I have tried many Viborg products. But I want to throw more perspective over the sound generally as a brand: Superb value, but don´t expect this brand to best the best models of Audioquest or even the middle models they have in any field of sound. Usually what Viborg lacks compared to the best plugs and cables is the 3d/layering/air/separation/highest level black sound. Example: Oyaide SRBN banana plugs sound 2.5x better because they have all of these rare things going on. And to be completely fair to all of the brands on the market, Viborg is perhaps the king of the lower end while Cardas/Audioquest might be the king of the mid end. I recommend the Viborg banana plugs, and inwall plug and 1501 cable, and recommend staying away from their very lowest end power plugs.

Whenever copper is silver-plated, gold-plated, or rhodium-plated, it must first first undergo nickel-plating in order to form an impenetrable barrier between the copper mass and the silver, gold, or rhodium plating which must cover it . Otherwise, copper atoms mingle with those of silver, gold, or rhodium in a process called fusion, which in turn leads to formation of oxides and sulphides on the surface.
Since element bearing number the 28 as well as those bearing numbers 27 and 26 on the table devised by Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev are ferromagnetic at room temperature, any gold/silder/rhodium-plated chunk of copper will be to some degree ferromegnetic too. The extent of magnetic permeability depends on the quality of the copper substrate in terms of absence of oxidation, pollutants, lacerations, holes and cracks on the surface (things that show up under metallographic instruments only) before it was nickel-plated and a closely related factor, namely how thin and how consistently the nickel barrier was plated.
Once upon a time, there was a guy who harboured deep hatred for ferromagnetism in audio connectors. He bought one or two dozen connectors of varying type, size, cost and quality. He then carefully tested their ferromagnetism with the use of a neudymium magnet. He was extremely happy that his genuine Furutech connectors did not respond to the magnet whereas the remainder either moved towards or jumped at the magnet. He then changed all his connectors with those made by Furutech.
Alas, as time went by, our guy got bored. And somewhere down the line, he made the fatal mistake of obtaining a much bigger neudymium magnet, one he could barely lift up with one hand. He then took out his Furutech connectors and repeated his previous scientific routine. What he witnessed next was just incredible. His genuine Furutech connectors appeared attracted to the magnet like Jimmy Savile was to preschool girls. I have heard that on that day, he gave up being an audiophile and now spends his days mostly playing with magnets...

I have been using Viborg power cords in my system and can confirm they are indeed great cords. I have also been using SKW interconnects and they are similar in quality to Viborg.

SKW 11g PC about $100 1/m and the silver over OCC XLR at about $200 1 meter. More layered and dimensional than many much more expensive cables I have boxed away. Not perfect maybe but very close to real high-end.

I have had the MTR 1501 for some time and I would concur with your results. They are weighty and the dark side of neutral but it is the upper mid-range and high frequencies that I find lacking are and transparency. A better choice is the skw 11 gauge OCC power cable as well as their silver over OCC XLR interconnects. Both offer much better air and a large well defined holographic soundstage. At first I really enjoyed the Viborgs and they are very well made and use real Dupont Teflon as an insulator but to my ears the SKW 11gauge(not the brown 10 gauge) are the best "inexpensive" PCs out of a dozen or so different cables I tried, often full looms. I only kept the Viborgs and SKWs and I'm probably not on Amazons favorite customer list as a result. Thanks for the good review.

I am not an audiophile, whatever that means...and will wrassle to the ground anyone who accuses me of being one. Having said that, I want to fall back on your superior understanding of sound, and ask you: Do I really need high end cables that cost hundreds of dollars when my perception of sound is not as high as a person who considers herself an audiophile? I have always been very happy with the five-dollar RCA connector. Is there something I can do to raise my understanding to be able to appreciate high end cable sound? Or is it all just a marketing hype? After all, if there was a distinct difference in sound quality, there wouldn't be such a controversy on the subject as we find on the internet. Your input will be of great help. Thank you
Addendum: I am not impervious to quality of sound, and had a Fisher 800-T, Dual 1019, KLH Model 5 combo as far back as 1975, but its cables were the most ordinary type, and the sound was just incredible. If you could point out in some famous composition some aspect that an audiophile would discern, while a lesser mortal would not, that would be really helpful.

A 14AWG cable is a 14AWG cable, no matter if its $3 at Walmart, or $70000000 foolish audiophile bullshit cost.
cables do not have a sound of their own!. *with exception do chinses substandard practice with copper as thin as hair.its just like big audio cables just like big pharama, lies and fairy dust.
TO those who say 99.9999% copper purity, well so what? want better conductivity? get an even thicker cabkle.

It is nonsense to talk about a balanced cable (XLRs) vs a single-ended cable (RCAs) out of context. If your electronics are balanced, you must use XLR connections to reap the benefits of balanced operation. If your electronics are single-ended, there is no benefit to using XLR cables. Whether balanced operation is per se "better" than SE operation is another matter entirely.

    • @Tharbamar
      @Tharbamar  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Anywhere in audio chain with XLR connection is highly beneficial in rejecting noise interference which simply SE can’t do, talking nonsense is everything must be in balance to have benefits of XLR cable.

Regal audio cables has nothing in common with viborg cables except for the connectors! All our interconnect cables are all hand made by myself in Sweden using a totally different and patent pending technology called Zero Technology. This innovation cancels the signal losses that occurs in the electrical field around the conductor. I want this video clip to be removed immediately as it contain false information that harm our business. This false information has already damaged our business.

Hello Sir. What power cord would you recommend to replace the cheap stock one on my SACD player /DAC? Do you think is not as necessary replacing it as with the amplifier? It seems the one reviewed in the video is more suitable for an amplifier than for a SACD player / DAC player. Maybe other Viborg refrence? On the other hand, do you think the Viborg VA803 (pure solid silver) RCA cable shares the same attributes as the Viborg VA801, but withtout reduced airines and spaciousness? Please let me know, I'm interested. Thanks!
