I played in 5th, 9th and 10th. In 5th you had to take 2 troops choices, and blood angels could take assault marines (then you paid points to add jump packs). They are what attracted me to blood angels, the lore got me hooked. They were really good, and taking them as troops meant you had more slots for other things. I was winning a bunch by the end of the edition. Now, with jump intercessors, i wish we could take more than just 3 squads (i want two big squads and two little) because they seem to do a really good job of eliminating targets, screening and establishing board control, well just about everything. A squad of ten dudes with a captain gets 45 str 7 chainsword attacks, and 10 str 11 powerfist attacks. Red rampage and you are gonna get a fair amount of wounds on the oath target. Add a sang priest and a good portion of those wounds should stick. Vanguard veterans work great. I give mine shields and a sang priest and watch them stack the wounds up. And they take far more to delete than youd expect for a model with t4 and 2 wounds. The main job of my gladiator lancers is to draw fire. I run two, in case i go first. Yes i like it when they do some damage, but if they die, then guys with chainswords or powerfists didnt. I still play smart with them, cuz they can do some heavy lifting for sure, but my list functions without them, and i would replace them if i had more van vets. I run two big death companies with jump packs. Both have a chaplain, one of those chaplains is lemartes. Lemartes starts on the board, because of his dmg reduction, and the regular chaplain leads the one i rapid ingress. Ive managed to pull a 77% win rate against people that usually win local tournaments. The only reason i dont play in tournaments myself is i have a major back issue, and can only play one game a day (and if its a 3k game, i cant finish it, unless we come back to it)
Very insightful. I think a 'tactical breakdown' (opponent consenting) of more of your battles would be very welcome. I'm not a BA player, but marine players in general can learn a lot about what to do with the generic units. I'm a DA player, and I don't play as aggressively as yourself - I utilise teleporting units (Inceptors and terminators) as objective grabbers - but 'how to move' is, in my opinion, such an important part of the game to learn.
I had completely misread Rapid Ingress to mean that it's in *your* movement phase, not your opponent's. This is gonna present a huge new advantage I never knew I had.
This is almost enough to tempt me away from iron storm lol. I also love seeing the genuine enthusiasm in this video and the happiness he got from the sponsorship. Cheers!

Great video as always! I'm confused a bit by the terrain. though. You say you can move 12" with the death company with jump pack across the ruin that has no really passage. It looks completely blocked. I thought that in this edition you couldn't pass though such ruins and had to either "fly" around or "fly" above which cost movement. Am I missing something? Cheers!

I am REALLY interested in using the Combined Arms template in creating lists. My biggest question is how did you come up with each number? For example, why 50% melee? Why not 60%? or 45%? The sane for characters, whey 15%? why not 20%? I mean are those percentages 'just what you use' or do they ever change?
All these numbers are a little fluid, use them as guides more than anything else. Have a look at the video I made recently about winning the grand tournament, because in that video you’ll see how my tournament winning list doesn’t quite match these numbers 100% but it’s close.
if long been into 40k, but just this month got into the actually playing the game part of the hobby and it's very intimidating starting an army, so many choices, all kinda expensive so there is a big fear of "buying wrong". My current idea for a 1000 point start is to go sanq priest, Lamartes, 2x assault intercessors, heavy intercessors, death company, infiltrators and a balistus dread. got almost 200 points still left not sure if another DC squad or a gladiator is better
