Woweeeee... Thats almost like driving the Dakar Rally. Yup another dejavu, took me back to crossing the Kalahari(1975), except without those huge rock formations... I remember Dad just booting the VW Bug we were in at night on the dry river beds(we did get lost - a bushman showed us the direction to go)... we saw a humungous spitting Cobra(brother got a slap upside the head, when he rolled down the window a little, lucky though, we pulled up beside it)... at one point the biggest jack rabbit i ever saw was caught running in front of the headlights, seemed like forever.... Dang near thought Dad was gonna hit em.... I did see a chipmunk run in front of you Adam LOL. I also thought at some spots you might get stuck too.... Thats Great you found the cell phone owners sign... In the right place at the right time... KUDO's!!!... LMAO When did mother nature put 'round abouts' in the desert Hahahahaa.... What can you say, a staggering adventure in the off road buggy, the scenery was stunning and you had so much fund exploring, really wish we had something like that over hear. Great that you found the guys phones a complete miracle really when you consider the area etc, look after your selfs.
Awesome ride guys! The last close out pictures of the distant hills with the white stratus lines look like water level lines. And everything below that is the lake/ inland sea bottom. Don't know if it is or not, but reassembles that. Happy ending with the found phone!
I have found a solution to the seatbelt issue. pull the belt out to the passenger side long enough to still buckle, then twist the buckle so the diagonal and the lap belts roll together and the top belt gets moved toward the driver side. then plug in and you still have full belt-up but the upper belt is coming down towards your middle and not rubbing your neck. hope that makes sense.
Cap rock country is flash flood country. when you showed rain clouds in the distance i WOULD have been concerned but you obviously made it home safe. With a wall of water traveling 20-40 mph or faster you have seconds to climb 10-20 feet up the canyon wall. bet you are glad florida is not flash flood country.

Do they have a GPS or something so they could find you if there was a problem with machine.
