Chris, watching your weekly uploads I've come to the conclusion that I was born in the wrong country(USA) as I like these older and modified bikes better than the latest whiz-bang motocrossers! Thanks for uploading. Tom
Hi Tom thanks for your comments and I’m glad your enjoying my content. Look out for all the racing coming next from this event where you can see many of these bikes in action on the track. All the best from Scotland.
Sorry for the long wait to reply to you Tom as I’m only just recently catching up on my video comments. But your absolutely right of course these old classics certainly have something modern bikes don’t possess. And again thanks for watching my video content.
@@monticlassictv Thanks Chris. You know, I think that the 'something' the old bikes had was that the time period was one of invention and experimentation. Everybody kind of said to themselves, "You know - I've got a couple of ideas that these other fellas haven't come up with and I think I'll fire up the welder and look the European continent over for the best tried and true little parts to give it the reliability and some darn good alloy tubing for the frame.......and see what I can come up with." Now it is the age of cookie-cutter Japanese bikes or a "monopoly" bike (i.e. - KTM and its clones) and diversity has gone out the window. Hell, I think all these American motocrossers are even wearing the same brand of underwear. We're just not seeing the cut 'n try attitude that we had with the twin shockers. Everything comes out of a computer program (Where's my slide rule?) and no one is deviating from the design. I think that it would do every kid good to watch your program and look at those bikes and realize that there is more than one way to do it. But.....what would I know? I'm just a 76 yr-old fossil who still rides with boots, pants, jersey, helmet, etc that aren't color-matched and walks with a funny limp that I got thanks to the "Yama-hop" that I got from poorly-designed monoshock the Japanese used to get even with the U.S. for winning the war. I guess I've turned into our grandfathers who used to sit around, smoke our pipes, and grumble about the "good old days". Ha! Hope you get a kick out of my reasoning. Keep the Faith and keep the programs coming.
@@tomnekuda3818 Hi Tom thanks for your comments and of course your absolutely correct in your assumption that these older motorcycle designs do come from a different era where experimentation and innovation were the watch words of motorbike designers. And I’m with you on your diagnosis that these modern bikes all look exactly the same and don’t have any of the individuality that old school bikes had back in the day. But unfortunately many of our old school bike building genius’s are now becoming few and far between and these old skills for experimenting using your god given talent are sadly a thing of the past. Which is why it’s still great to see what these guys did back in the day through my You Tube Channel before these fantastic classics are completely lost forever. All the best to you my friend and stay safe and well and thanks for taking the time to watch my content.
C`mon people, we need more likes. This the only source in the world for this content. Great work Chris.
the BSA and CCM are by far my favorite and best looking....and the sound of the BSA motor is amazing...
