Some of the lists you can get together with some of the factions are all shooting and magic. It's got a huge variety. What I like most about the game is the model casts are all next tier awesome. Even the battle line stuff.
Being used to 40k it's really weird to see proper fight only begin on turn 3 instead of both armies almost non existing at that point. Seams much more fun this way.
It is, you should try it. Age of Sigmar is - at least at the moment - a better game than 40k, with simpler and more streamlined rules, yet more tactical depth somehow
Yeah, but you very quickly see games going the same way. They brought it up in this very batrep where "wow, this became another battle for the center... but I'm sure others won't be like that." I could only respond, "Yeah, they will be."

They each do some things very incredibly wrong, while having a few good points that the other can point to and say, "SEE?! I'm better!!!" AoS has army-ADHD; flat-to-wound rolls; a melee focus that leaves shooting armies as kings in mission, terrain, and army design; "cookie-cutter" army design where you have next to no control in list-building unless it's a pre-approved idea; "superhero and his friends" army philosophy; *over*-simplified rules; and the AWFUL idea that is the ability to get double-turns. I'm not sure what you mean by "more tactical depth," because 40k is pretty on-par with AoS on that department. It's just not as glaringly obvious as AoS, because 40k tends to be more fatal without good terrain. 40k isn't without its own flaws, though. It has plenty of sacred cows holding it back, including Space Marine fetishism (Space Marines having to feel "super" despite being *a majority of the playerbase* ); falling into the same traps as AoS with the "superhero and his friends" army philosophy; older designs from prior editions informing current trends; old designs failing to keep up with power creep in *model design* (there's only so much power you can strap onto an existing Leman Russ's guns, which is why the new Dorn has 5 extra guns stapled to it by comparison); and an unwillingness to let anyone die. And neither has alternating activations. **TL;DR** - Both games suck so much that comparing them mechanically is like saying you prefer the smell of spoiled eggs over spoiled milk. Enjoy the game for the cool models and move on from trying to prove yours is worthwhile.

One thing that is awesome, you can use the BCR unstoppable charge ability to move in multiple directions, so you could move partially over a unit and then toward another unit to proc your mw output 😉 Subscribed. a little tech on that stonehorn rampage, when you move as if flying you can float over the unit of chaos warriors and back over the lord and land in front of him as long as you had the movement.

I'm building a Slaves army now and I am painting them Norscan. I figured out kinda late this probably makes them look very committed to Tzeentch ... But this was a really fun batrep to learn some of their skills on the field.
Wanted to see the new Slaves to darkness in action and not only do I like what I see in the army I also love the channel not a big 40k fan so I've never actually watched the cannel but now I'm sold. Keep them coming. Beautiful board nice terrain would love to play on a table like that.

Be'Lakor does not do that much damage indeed. Although that is just not his role. You get Be'Lakor for his AMAZING lockdown ability, to potentially shut down your opponent's best unit for 2 turns. He also is a double caster, which is always great to have. Great game guys! Very fun to see my two armies fight it out.
Bone/carapace paint scheme on the stonehorns is gorgeous, and ogres are indeed rotund legends whom I adore and relate to. But I gotta root for chaos here sorry Chef :(
I actually appreciated you guys stripping out the GHB rules for this. They're temporary and don't really give you an honest idea of how the army by itself functions.
Chef, regarding dispelling endless spells: the endless spell rules say that a priest can attempt to dispel and endless spell at the start of the hero phase, like a wizard, but you chant 1 fewer prayers during that turn. Now, you don’t chant prayers in Beard’s turn, so your priest can dispel endless spells in the enemy turn with no downsides! Also, endless spells cannot he cast in a turn they were dispelled, so another reason to dispel in Beard’s turn!

Great show, gents! If I may recommend: many competitive events only allow the grand strategies and battle tactics from the current season. (In other words, faction specific ones are left out). Many competitive players (including myself) find that when both players are playing from the same set of tactics and strategies, it makes for a better game.

Always cracks me up reading somebody to describe themselves playing competitive on game that can't be played competitively :D You have better luck playing SLEEPING competitively than GW games...You can call a pig pure bred stallion but it's still just a pig. Similary GW games just flat out are impossible to play competitively

Be'lakor was still worth his points in this game. Being able to basically take out one unit of your choice for one round is HUGE, he is still a 2 spell caster, and the two Mornfangs he killed were already about half his points. He is not lackluster. Just don't let him fight your opponent's strongest melee unit. StD already have plenty VERY strong units and options. It's ok that Be'lakor is "only good"
About the point Chef makes at roughly 42:00 in this mission you cannot contest objectives that are not activated, therefore you cannot even hold them. if you grab that one active objective in the middle but have no models within range of your home objective you will still score Hold 1 AND Hold more than the opponent
In this scenario you can CONTROL objectives. You just can't SCORE from them. Important difference actually. For one it matters with battle tactics. For second if you control objective turn 1 even if you can't score from it you can leave it turn 2 and you still will score from it when it is activated.
In regard to Be'lakor's output... yeah I think most people agree that it's a bit 'eh' for such a huge cool model. Now his rules are great, so he's still a real good unit for his points, but I'd kinda want him to be a bit more expensive and a bit more impressive personally.

I heard someone say this and it stuck with me forever 40K is the competitive strong game with hardcore players. Aos is full of cool dads and uncles that just like to bonk models together and have a good time. I now play more aos and I agree with that statement wholeheartedly.
3 varaguards with spears fighting twice are so good. Also if you run the chaos knights with the karkaJack i thinks just 5 will be fine, you can spend the other points in 1 or 2 warcry warbands, wich are so good to screeen and hold objectives, and you still have points left. In the other hand, Bro Rally!!! you have 4+ rally (now 5+ after faq) rally the varanguard (you also can't now xD) and the chaos knights! xD in the Side of the ogors... hooooly mowly how much mortal wounds and how resilent are they too. Thank you for game guys, it was inspiring, and you actitude too xD, if i was there i table flip for shure when the chaos warriors save 1 or 2 mortal wounds at turn 3 when they was chargued and take like 15 mortal wounds xD

I agree that belakor’s damage output is a bit underwhelming but I suppose they wanted to keep him as a “support” character even though they gave his model the best glow up

I think they're really enjoying Sigmar because of how fast the turns are if you don't have much shooting or magic.

There are Age of Sigmar tournaments all over the world and they’re a lot of fun. Competitive Age of Sigmar is in excellent shape right now.

In regard to Be'lakor's output... yeah I think most people agree that it's a bit 'eh' for such a huge cool model. Now his rules are great, so he's still a real good unit for his points, but I'd kinda want him to be a bit more expensive and a bit more impressive personally.

I heard someone say this and it stuck with me forever 40K is the competitive strong game with hardcore players.
Aos is full of cool dads and uncles that just like to bonk models together and have a good time. I now play more aos and I agree with that statement wholeheartedly.
I'd say "get in me belly!" But I'm not sure I'd want the stomach ache chaos warriors would give!

3 varaguards with spears fighting twice are so good.
Also if you run the chaos knights with the karkaJack i thinks just 5 will be fine, you can spend the other points in 1 or 2 warcry warbands, wich are so good to screeen and hold objectives, and you still have points left.
In the other hand, Bro Rally!!! you have 4+ rally (now 5+ after faq) rally the varanguard (you also can't now xD) and the chaos knights! xD
in the Side of the ogors... hooooly mowly how much mortal wounds and how resilent are they too.

I agree that belakor’s damage output is a bit underwhelming but I suppose they wanted to keep him as a “support” character even though they gave his model the best glow up
