Sunrise on the Grand Teton Range - Time Lapse, June 25, 2021

  • This time lapse video was shot on the morning of June 25, 2021. The time of the shot started about 5:10 am and was shot over about a one hour period. Because this is a time lapse, there is no audio and I decided not to add any music - just leave it as it is. Shot using a GoPro Hero 9 Black Edition in time lapse mode set to one frame per second. Because of the automatic exposure settings in the camera, the beginning of the video appears much brighter than reality. Pretty cool watching the fog roll by and then seeing the first rays of direct sunlight hitting the highest point of peak and quickly lighting up the whole range. Even though this was recorded just a few days after the summer solstice, it was about 38 degrees F (3.3 C) when we arrived and I am pretty sure the temperature dropped even lower before sunrise. The time lapse was shot at the Glacier View Turnout on U.S. Highway 26 just north of Moose, WY in the Gran Teton National Park.

Mother Nature is by far the best artist there is. I spent a little over a month back in 2002 traveling over 6,000 miles around the west by myself. I filled two 250 picture albums, all on 35 MM film. About 75% of the pictures was in the National Parks, Lake Tahoe, Great Salt Lake, and a bunch of places I had never heard of. That trip really defined what the term, “Big Sky Country,” really means.

So cool - I love those mountains - cycled once to them then on in the 70's then passed by them about 10 years ago on my bike on a different route. Of the mountains along the great divide, these are the best!

Thanks Kieth. People ask me why I haven't been to the USA since I've lived less than 50 miles from the border. My answer is there's too much yet to see in Canada. Maybe if I live long enough.
Otherwise beautiful scenery and thankfully no man made noise though being at a cutout I assume there was plenty of passing traffic.
Best wishes to your expanding family from the banana belt of Canada.👍🇨🇦🤞
Happy 4th to All Americans. Keep it safe.

I grew up watching that view! It is breathtaking! But it reminds me of why I haven’t seen that view in better than 30 years. In Jackson you are one of 5 things? #1 Wealthy ,with a vacation home in the valley but living in some other city .#2 Wealthy, but living mostly full time in the valley. #3 A local business owner paying full homage to one or both of the first two types #4 a tourist that thinks it would be “just great” being one of the first four types. Or last and absolutely, totally, least# 5 one of the serfs that service all of the first 4 types! You have a choice, live with the Beautiful views, or have enough pride to get the hell out of Jackson, Wyoming. I have lived in incredible places since I got out of Wyoming. Incredibly beautiful.exciting places. Places in Utah, Arizona, Montana, Nevada, Iowa, New Mexico, Kansas, Thailand and Mexico.Even other cities in Wyoming. Places where it is possible to work and live far better, in both spirit and body, than any working class resident of Jackson ever will. So enjoy your trip to Jackson. Just be aware that the waitress, hotel/motel staff member, tourist trap souvenir store clerk or resort worker smiles at your face and hates your guts. We always truly always did wonder “if there is a tourist season, what is the legal limit on them.” We we’re always aware that live trapping a tourist is illegal because of the horrible squealing noise they make. It scares the rest of the tourists away before the local business owners can strip them of all their money. That really piss’s off the local business owners!

Very nice. The GoPro's do a nice job. I use DSLR's and shoot thousands of frames that have to be blended together. It works but it's a pIta. I leave my time lapses silent too. If you're still there take a drive up Shadow Mountain. Gross Ventre is a nice RV park just outside of GTNP.

Welcome to Wyoming from one of your long term subscribers. I wonder if your daughter is getting married in the Chapel of the Transfiguration in Moose? If so show you viewers the scene through the altar looking out over the Tetons. I am in Douglas which we refer to as the real Wyoming. Good machine shops here serving the oil,gas and coal industries. I have learned much from you over the years as you are a great teacher. Thanks for your wonderful contribution to us amateur machinists. I know just enough to fix the breakdowns on our ranch. Our best wishes to you, your family and especially your daughter. May they have a wonderful life.

God forgives our sins as far as the east is from the west ( from the suns rays early in the morn in WAY to the east)! There is no defining end to east and west as there is a North Pole and a South Pole...AND that was written WAY before the Poles had been explored!...

It do get cool at night "up there." I had a guy that lives in the Beartooth range do some work on my pickup, he had a niece that lived in Georgia visiting at the time. She was miserable at night because she wasn't used to it. And truck drivers run heaters rather than air in there bunks at night. If they didn't, they woke up with teeth chattering.

Thanks for sharing this with us. It's beautiful.
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
    Psalm 19:1 KJV
    God bless you!
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
    John 3:3 KJV
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    1 Corinthians 15:1‭-‬4 KJV
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
    Romans 3:23‭-‬26 KJV
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
    Romans 5:8‭-‬11 KJV
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
    Romans 5:1‭-‬2 KJV
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
    Romans 10:9‭-‬10 KJV

We had to fuel up our motorcycle at the gas station in Yellowstone. The station operator told us to take a different road than the supposedly scenic route down to Jackson Hole. We got much closer than the scenic route. While you are there be sure and drive Bear Tooth Pass and the Chief Joeseph highway. 10,400 ft at Bear Tooth Pass. You need a motorcycle to really enjoy communing with nature when riding those routes. My wife wanted to see a bear in Yellowstone. The only bear we saw was the one that came running between houses and across the main street and I had to make an emergency stop to keep from hitting it. We camped at the state park on the open range and had the splatted remains of one passing past the front of our Aspen Classic motorcycle camper.
