  • In our latest review, we take out the new BMW 218i Gran Coupe M Sport.
    The new BMW 218i Gran Coupe has a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine that puts out 103kW of power and 220Nm of torque. It comes in as a new entry level BMW, below it's bigger better sibling the M235i Gran Coupe. The model tested has the M Sport package - hence the metallic paint, M light wheels and M badging around to make it look quicker than it actually is. Stay tuned for more.

    between a this new 218i M sport or a 5k km demo car a250 amg sport, which one would you choose? Both the same year.

    • @TalkingTorque
      @TalkingTorque  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The A250 offers 165kW of power and 350Nm of torque. This is a huge increase compared to the 218i. If power/torque are a consideration, then the A250 prevails (0-100kmh is 6.2 seconds in the Mercedes, vs. 8.7 in the BMW). They both have incredible interiors, M Sport and AMG Sport, this is more of a personal preference if you prefer M or AMG design. The 218i would feel a tiny bit roomier, but nothing too noticeable. The main selling factor is the engine difference, where the A250 leads significantly. The rest is quite similar and more of a personal preference. Both feel great to drive either way!

    When you hit the gas in ecopro and comfort mode what was the reaction of the car ? My previous car was 116i and im wanting to change to 218 i. Thanks

    • @TalkingTorque
      @TalkingTorque  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It realises that it wants to take off, but it's just a tad slower to react. In sport mode the throttle is much more responsive. Hope this helps!

    Great video mate, I'm looking at this car because I can get it at £200 a month on a lease, do you think that's a deal worth taking on this car? It would be the 2021 model is there a difference between this car and the 2021 model do you know?

    • @TalkingTorque
      @TalkingTorque  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks mate! So for 2021, instead of just the 218i and M235i, BMW is adding the 220i (in Australia) and the 228i (overseas). 2021 models receive SiriusXM satellite radio as standard, and Android Auto compatibility is finally on the spec sheet. The once optional 10.3-inch infotainment and gauge-cluster screens are now standard, same goes for the navigation system with real-time traffic updates. Plus, the new Driver Assistance package provides adaptive cruise control and an automatic parking feature. Not huge updates, but if these are things valuable to you, then it might be worthwhile. I know the whole leasing thing is a big thing in the UK/US, but not so much here in Australia. What do comparable leases get you for £200?

    • @shaunmcevoy8057
      @shaunmcevoy8057 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TalkingTorque Thanks for such a quick reply mate, the £200 price is usually what you pay for the standard model hatchbacks like Golf 1.5 TSI and Audi A3 sportback 35 TFSI 150.
      Something like an A class hatchback is actually more expensive than £200 the A class 180 1.3 SE is £230 a month.
      What do you think about the deal compared to those other cars? I was looking at a Golf before I seen this offer on the 2 series

    • @TalkingTorque
      @TalkingTorque  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Happy to help Shaun! If we're sticking to the £200 budget, and there's no chance of getting an A200 or A250, then the 2 Series is a great option. The Golf is entry level and a very common car - in other words, nothing special. If that's what you're after, then no problems with that. But the 2 Series just stands out with it's shape and design, and the coupe look is much more aggressive/adult-like versus the hatchback of a Golf. It's personal preference though! If you prefer VW/Audi, then they are still great options nonetheless.

    • @shaunmcevoy8057
      @shaunmcevoy8057 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TalkingTorque yeah that was my line of thinking nothing wrong with hatchbacks but I really like the look of the BM I think that's what I would go for, the A200 is about £300 a month right now as prices can vary with whatever deal is on at that moment so considering I think the 2 series is the best car I'm going to get for the money.
      Thanks so much for the advice mate it really helps 👍

    • @TalkingTorque
      @TalkingTorque  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely on the right track, and that would be my decision but I don't want to sway you if you have personal preferences. A200 way too expensive, so it seems like the 2 Series is an awesome option for what you're getting! Happy to help mate - all the best with the purchase! 🙌
