    One quick thing. The SAS and many other spec ops units are not subject to the same "law of war" as a regular military unit. Speaking by SAS policy, they have permission by the UK government to terminate anyone they consider could be a threat, and are not required to accept surrenders. There have been quite a few operations where the SAS have actually been given explicit orders to kill any and every person they encounter during an op, civilian or hostile, fighting or surrendering.

      People like to pretend the US is different but they really aren't having heard EX-SF talk candidly they are basically allowed to do the same thing usually and if they fuck up then the government just does its usual coverup routine. Like double taps are technically forbidden in most circumstances but everyone does it it just makes sense. unless the person can verbally or physically surrender and they are still killed then that is a crime but good luck actually finding out about it and I do get it.

    Fun fact: The thing you said about being a risky call to put rounds into walls, in the second floor, if you shoot through the door and kill the guy behind before he shoots your squadmate, he'll say "2-6 Engaged, hope he hit the bad guys...", and later Price will later say "Good call on that door, Garrick" that also unlocks an achievement.
    Also if you kill the baby the game will say "Do not engage non-combatants", if you fail the mission 3 times doing this the game will say "What's wrong with you?" and will kick you out to the main menu, *resetting the mission progress.*

    That last woman that you shoot before picking up the detonator is 100% justifiable. She’s looking backwards, walking back toward the table, acting shady, she tried to go for something abruptly. In this situation, there was a detonator, but what if there was a gun, or some other weapon? What if that detonator was wired to a device meant the blow up that room? Or the whole building? Not something you want to chance.

    • @Kasseenzettel
      @Kasseenzettel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yea, I didn't get that one either. If there's two dudes pointing guns at you, and you already have your hands up and everything, _any_ sudden move will get you shot, whether that was a detonator or a freaking kitten doesn't matter, the whole "no sudden moves" thing should be rather self-evident :o

    • @actuallylid
      @actuallylid 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t like the argument “Is a person known to be right guy who doesn’t miss”, I feel like that only worked because he was the capital of the squad, while yes experience is quite a vital thing in war, even the most experienced people can have misjudgments or make mistakes.
      That’s just my thought on it though, I don’t really know that much about military lol

      I know this comment is a little late, but she was clearly up to something being up there. They know the intelligence would have to be on the upper floors, and here she is conveniently barricades in a room set up for something. She’s in on it and is shifty as all hell even ignoring her looking towards a detonator.

    As far as I remember the SAS will often deal with issues of domestic terrorism under certain circumstances (Such as the famous Iranian Embassy incident). Normally local police would try to deal with it while an SAS squadron will be on standby getting trained on the buildings layout just in case there's an "imminent threat" and they need to breach.
    I say it as a UK national but I could always be mistaken.

    • @CombatVeteranReacts
      @CombatVeteranReacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Interesting. That is probably not too different from a US Law Enforcement response. The local commander is always in charge of the incident, and most state and local Pads have their own SWAT teams that are more available

  • @Medic427
    @Medic427 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Believe it or not, a lot of swat teams have went back to M4s and such, after finding that 5.56 rounds don’t overpen as much as a heavier 9mm would. Idk how the construction of a house in London would compare to construction here in the states, but that’s what I was told from more than a few local SWAT guys, as well as looking it up for myself. Just a fun fact.

      Yeah, I never thought about using an M4 in suburban area as a risk, and I am a SoF guy who is supposed to think about this shit. When he talked about overpen on the M4 I started going back and thinking of the weapons we used in suburban areas with known civies. We used guns that fired the 9mm parabellum, like the MPX or MP7.

      @Medic427 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Multiplayer on the freeware is rough, but the GOLD edition (which you need to buy) gives everything you need.

  • @giantidiot31
    @giantidiot31 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think the biggest mechanic used to avoid flagging is free looking (or having a "rest" position where you can't fire your weapon and you're aiming at the floor). Like on some games for PC, you can hold something like C or left-Ctrl and use your mouse to just move your head/view while your body/gun/turret/whatever stays in the original orientation. Without it, you're sorta forced to flag people from time to time just trying to see where you're going unless you stare at the floor or ceiling while you move lmao.
    Also, at 14:00, I would imagine the player, if this were a real life scenario, I'd say they had probable cause to shoot the man yelling, "wait!" After seeing a teammate get lit up by an AK through the door (there was also a prompt for him to pick up an AK as he walked by the body), he throws a flashbang into the room.
    Now I'd imagine that a civilian with no combat training who's been in complete darkness for several minutes while hearing his friends and comrades get killed would drop just about anything, including their weapon if a flashbang went off near them. I trained up to and practiced as a black belt in both Taekwon-Do and Hapkido for years, I got bo staff mastery quals, and I usually rank OK at the rifle club I go to, but we don't take it seriously. And even if I focused all the discipline I had into focusing and I knew it would be coming, I'd probably drop my gun anyway if I was in the bad guy's position. (Anyway)
    But because of his position and angle on the door, I seriously doubt anyone else could have fired through the door since we didn't hear movement before or after and the other contacts had like pistols.
    Plus, during the briefing they say it's a stronghold for a known terrorist leader. A lot of the people in it were expected to be unwilling to surrender before the op even started.

    • @PimpmasterMcGooby
      @PimpmasterMcGooby 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @@CombatVeteranReacts It is indeed based on the SIG MCX, however the MCX and the weapon in the game are both 5.56x45mm (There is also an MCX firing .300AP in the game but that would be an even worse choice for this kind of mission. )
      The IGN playthrough of this mission is one of the worst I am afraid, the guy playing has definitely done the mission before and knows exactly who is combatant or not, this leads to him instantly shooting people, sometimes in the back of the head before any apparent threat is identified.
      I've seen other people play this and they actually take the time to verify threats, while also allowing the NPCs to take lead when intended by the game developers.

      @@PimpmasterMcGooby .300 blackout subsonic would actually be better in this scenario, especially with certain types of round, as it is less likely to over penetrate a target and more likely to just dump all of its energy into it.

    Okay I know this is old but something that always rubbed me the wrong way about this mission was how 3 out of I think the four people “surrendering” are really secretly hostiles, which just feels like it’s pushing this weird narrative to me, like that last girl, you didn’t have positive ID but if you didn’t take the shot she would’ve blown up the house. The narrative being you did a good thing by shooting her even though she was unarmed and saying that she was a hostage, sure maybe situations like that do happen but there’s a clear message being communicated about no knock raids. Idk just sort of bothers me when the narrative being constructed feels very, morally dubious in a somewhat inauthentic way. And it’s especially that end line that makes the whole situation seem so cut and dry that really seals the deal for me, a very complicated situation just made incredibly black and white with 2 lines of dialogue

      Do you expect terrorists to play "by the rules"? Ofc it's a videogame but earlier in the town bomb incident a poor black cop says "we just can't do anything! The rules of engagement put us at a disadvantage. We come to apprehend him (meaning apprehend him by had, cuff him, etc..) and he blew himself." Which really puts you in the picture: terrorists dont care about any rules or war crimes.
      They'll beg and fake surrender until they can get that bomb jacket armed, they'll take their own childrens and weaponize them, they'll say "no! Stop! I surrender!" while shouldering their rifle.
      It's an unforgiving and disgusting situation that resolve on calls, may they be the good calls or bad calls. Like real life...

    The SAS are doing this mission domestically because Al-Qatala, a terrorist organization, is based in this location and have intel on future chemical gas attacks on the rest of the world.
    However, the SAS have done the work of hostage rescue before. The Iranian embassy siege in London.
    If elements of the Islamic State were found in the United States, and also had intel on other cells with the means to carry out attacks across the country, you can bet your ass the Pentagon would send special forces to deal with them and NOT the FBI. That way they can also keep things quiet.
    It especially makes things like 14:00 easier to get away with.
