If I were in Zhuge Liang's posistion, I'd recommend handing over the two commanderies but on conditions. 1- Zhou Yu and Cheng Pu must genuinely pledge to serve, and be subject to punishment by Liu Bei. 2- Liu Bei may appoint whosever he wishes to be their Vice Governors 3- We withdraw troops away from the Nanjun/Jiangxia areas. By doing this, the unity of the alliance would appear to be manifest. Wu is appeased a very small amount. Zhou Yu, however, is bound to do something insubordinate eventually for which he can be punished. Zhuge Liang can use the Vice Governor and loyal men to trap Zhou Yu like Zhou Yu trapped Liu Bei.
Carinthium Now you are thinking! And when they inevitably use the road to guo stratagem, confuse them into a trap with an empty town, and they will be hesitant due to the battle of nanjung, and then attack them from the outside and force them against the walls like junks against the rocks!
1. Will never happen. 2. Vice governor is irrelevant if the governor and everybody else that matters is in Wu's side. 3. Why would they withdraw troops from strategic points? Want Cao Cao to govern that area instead? Very bad recommendation.
Do you even know where these two commandaries are? They are the chokepoints of the North and East of Jing province, which control the whole waterway of the Han river flowing through Jing province.
They support both and do not really support one over the other. They see them exactly how they are. Zhou Yu as their Grand Commander and Sun Quan as their Lord. They would not defy Sun Quan if Zhou Yu said to if that answers your question. They are loyal to the Sun family, like LackinCruelty said, they have been around since Sun Jian.

i dont think so JadeDeLair, im pretty sure that the three veterans, Cheng Pu, Huang Gai and Han Dang has been serving the Sun family since Sun Jian.

The generals listed at 13:20 are they the generals that support Zhou Yu over Sun Quan?
Why call Yi Province the "Riverlands?"
无崖子 Wuyazi maybe rivers?
