Funny enough, whenever I would sit and watch that movie with my lil sister(when she was a kid), she used to say that she’s like Gingy and I’m like Mongo🤷🏾♂️😂… Based on the idea that in our house only us two kind of look alike, and me being the bigger one led her child mind come to that conclusion😅
It's actually a fun little detail; in the original Puss in Boots story, Puss in Boots defeats a massive Ogre (albeit by tricking him into turning mouse and eating him). So when the ugly stepsister says that there's only one guy who can kill and ogre, that's a direct reference to the original fairy tale
Well I am not sure this helps you see the Fairy Godmother as a better villain but it is heavily implied (given none of this is out right stated in the movies) that the Fairy Godmother was the original witch that put the Oger curse on Fiona in the first place and set up the whole scenario of her being locked away in a tower so that one day her son "Charming" would rescue Fiona, breaking said curse and fall in love with him so she through her son would have control over the Kingdom of Far Far Away. So yes, she created this whole conflict in the first place as a power move to control the Kingdom and get a lay for her son!
On a side note, Shrek is actually the reason why Eddie Murphy didn’t reprise his role as Mushu from Mulan for Mulan 2. He apparently has a rider in his contract stating that he can’t do more than one film at a time.
The I need a hero scene is absolutely my favourite scene in any movies guaranteed goosebumps. Shrek 1 is a great movie best in the Shrek series, Shrek 2 is just a perfect sequal. Grows characters and movies story forward without any retrace. Not many sequels can claim that.
I just have to say that I love Puss & Boots because he's basically Cat Zorro😅 I'll never forget the hype around this movie as a kid. They fully delivered a great sequel.😂😂
And Antonio Banderas just loves voicing this character, as he keeps coming back for more. That's when you know you've created a good character (and paid the voice actor well).

This is the best Shrek film in my eyes, and just a great example of what a good sequel should do. It perfectly builds off the characters and themes of the original, and advances and develops them in ways that feel appropriate and effective. Also, it has the best climactic setpiece ever put to film, and is hysterically funny to boot, with some of the best gags in the entire series: - The "are we there yet?" scene - The entire awkward dinner - Shrek pretending to be from the union (one of those jokes that gets funnier the older you get) - The COPS parody - Everyone in the Starbucks panicking when Mongo shows up...and running into _another_ Starbucks right across the street
I love the way the Shrek franchise contains so many references and nods to fairy tales and nursery rhymes. One of the great things in Shrek 2 is thoughout the movie it hints that King Harold was the frog from the princess and the frog story (A tapestry of lillipads in his bedroom, he talks about his first date with the Queen by the lillipond). And the fairy godmother is only able to manipulate the king by telling him that she can just as easily take away his happily ever after (becoming a human and marrying the princess). Just makes the reveal at the end that much more deserved.
I can’t BELIEVE she likes Lord Farquad more as a villain than Fairy Godmother! I just could never take him serious at all 😂 hope you guys continue to do the rest!
Seriously, Farquad does next to nothing in the story of Shrek 1. He's a glorified quest-giver who's also a pretty weak villain. The short jokes aren't all that original or funny outside of the legendary double entendre "Do you think he's compensating for something?" line. Farquad is just kinda lame. All talk, little action. The Fairy Godmother is an actual threat who's pulling most of the strings behind the scenes. She's much funnier and a much better manipulator too. Plus the "I Need a Hero" cover is probably a Top 5 Dreamworks scene ever. She's an outstanding villain from top to bottom and definitely in the Top 5 of the studio. I wouldn't put Farquad in the Top 10.
My favourite part about this movie, is when the king enters the bar and the female frog "Haven't I seen you somewhere before?" and the king says no. At the ending of the movie when the king becomes his true self, we learn he was actually a frog who turned into a human, which explains the comment from the lady frog. Basically impossible to notice unless you watch the movie more than once.
So, intersting behind the scenes. There were questions on if Dragon transformed when Donkey took the potion. And according to the creators, they had originally planned to have her come in as a pegasus, and she was going to help. But with the twist they had at the end, they decided not to move forward with that. But in their head canon... Yes, she still transformed into the pegasus.
Fun fact: In the special features of the DVD, there's a skit called "Far Far Away Idol" which is basically a rip-off of American Idol complete with an actual Simon Cowell appearance, and you get to pick the winner.
That police scene is my favourite scene in the Shrek franchise, I love the stereotypical dark humour in it, the black guy (Donkey) gets brutality, the Spanish guy (Puss) gets caught with "cat nip" and the white guy (Shrek) gets off easy. 😂

More Shrek! But honestly I’d love for Holden to see the second Puss in Boots, that movie is phenomenal!
I remember seeing this in theater when I wad 13! Ppl were laughing the whole way. Definitely the best Shrek film!
Holds up way better than the first one, to be honest
I did not know that I needed this reaction at 12am on the District Line, but I did and it kept me awake 🙏🏻❤️
Their was a Shrek X-Mas Tv special om NBC TV too. Also a Halloween one too. Both were funny as heck.
The Puss in boots movies are actually really good. The second one especially.
I used to know this movie by heart, word for word.
What made you stop????
Everytime I see Prince Charming I can't unsee Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones lmao
This is our families fav Shrek movie. So much humor including references to other pop culture movies.
Great reaction you guys I actually agree quit a bit with the score you guys gave it I think it's around an 8 as well I just love watching all your reactions hearing your thoughts about everything and please read this whole thing even though it's long you don't have to but I'd like that I think the first shrek is more medieval cause of the castle and the dragon and when shrek is wearing the medieval kind of armour and it's just older and has a special theme and feeling to it that is really hard to beat and everytime you guys post a new video I feel happiness I love watching almost every video you guys do I also think you guys are cute together and hope that you guys live a long and wonderful life together and absolutely cannot wait to see your next reaction love you guys
I think you guys "Civil War'd" yourself expecting a better flick, while we at the time of release thought it was going to be bad because the mentality going in was "sequels suck."
2004 was the best year for cinema
Shrek 2
Spider-Man 2
The Incredibles
Mean Girls
The union joke is still my favorite but in all the Shrek movies.
(With Mongo’s Godzilla joke a close second)
3 and 4 get a lot of hate but both are still very enjoyable especially the 4th. I think it has a strong story and it's executed pretty well
Awesome Reaction guys love the shirts!😊Easily my favourite Shrek movie it has a great story line awesome voice cast love Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots a brilliant soundtrack even funnier jokes. And off course Jennifer Saunders as Fairy Godmother stealing the show. The I Need A Hero scene is easily the most epic and my favourite scene in the movie and one of the best musical numbers in a animated movie!
This is only the 2nd best use of "We Need A Hero" song in a movie. The best one came out in 1988!
