What I believe has helped us is my guys know that each sound they play has spiritual significance. They are told to have big ears(listen) and only play what brings the rt atmosphere and emotion (the music sh match the message in the song). I actually lead them...no verbal cues. They have learned me and can follow w/o signals just by listening to how I play and sing, and have grown to play with great sensitivity to Holy Spirit. Most importantly they all love the Lord so this is their worship!

Hi Pastor Annette! I am so humbled to hear this! We continue to stand in awe of what God has done with these videos from our church services. My heart's desire is that people would experience God and not just music. If He inhabits our praise then I believe we have been successful. Then we must decrease so that He can increase...in other words, when He shows up in manifestation then we should get out of the way and let the God we sing about have His way. Hi Patti, I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I am so grateful that you were able to find comfort through worship. I appreciate your kind words. To answer your question, I would have to say that because pain registered with me so deeply as a child, my heart was made sensitive to feel deeply. I found that through the gift of music and worship, God has used that sensitivity to bless me and others. I have learned to run to God in my pain to find comfort and now I get to invite others to do the same. And, because God is a good father, he does not just give me comfort when I come to Him but He blesses me beyond measure. May you always find grace in your time of need in His presence! God bless you!

Jamal Bennett Thanks Jamal! Our goal in leading praise and worship is to prayerfully be a vessel that God uses to invite His people to be with Him. I always teach and apply the concept that John used when he declared that he must decrease so that Jesus could increase. John was the proclaimer but when the one who was proclaimed showed up John's job was done(so to speak). So we are here to be seen and heard until God manifest Himself to all...then we are just one worshipper among many making one united sound to the Lord. Many times (but not always), excessive runs and such can distract from this type of atmosphere because it tends to draw attention to the singer's performance instead of to God Himself. So we try to limit that to other types of music and not corporate worship. Stay encouraged and thanks again for sharing!
