  • How we ensure that you aren’t having a heart attack includes two test- an ECG and a troponin. But often in medicine it is far easier to tell patients what they don't have. It is far more challenging sometimes to come to an ultimate diagnosis. That is where following up with your physician or cardiologist outside of the hospital can help us further figure that out

I went to the ER for chest pain. The chest pain was persistent and lasted for a long time before I actually went to the ER. People were telling me that I will have to wait for a long time at the ER before I can be seen but it wasn't the case, the wait time for me was less than 10 minutes, the first thing that was done was an ECG, followed by a blood test, I was then given fluids and a pain medication through IV then the ER doctor talked to me for a little bit then I had a chest X-Ray done.. the ER doctor said that tests were negative and to follow up with a cardiologist, he didn't know what was causing chest pain.. My blood pressure was taken Four times .. and I was feeling better when I was discharged my blood pressure dropped from 135 to 108/58. I went to the cardiologist, had another ECG then she ordered a D-dimer test and an Echocardiogram then when the results came out she ordered a stress test which I will be taking tomorrow morning. I've never had any heart issues and I still don't know what is causing my chest pain, the chest pain comes and goes and I have no idea what is causing it and the doctors don't know what is causing it.. I'm not stressed. My d-dimer was 0.5 FEU but the cardiologist said it's within the normal range.. I don't know.. I'm young to have heart problems. I used to exercise a lot and very active but it hasn't been the case since I started having chest pain and palpitations. The heart was beating so fast I was afraid to exercise.

How do you recommend to prepare for a cardiology elective as MS3.
