I remember Rocket Raccoon being the 'weird' story in the back of the UK Marvel edition of The Transformers comic that was weird and I didn't understand. It was difficult to follow. Perhaps Rocket wasn't the best pairing for comics bought by 8 year olds who like transforming robots. I've got 2 issues from back then. It surprised me that I missed out on something special by not being quite old enough to enjoy Rocket yet.
I knew some of this but the way you explained it made me think I learned it again what a great speaker. I know this is posted 4 years after but better late than never.
It's really heartbreaking to me that Bill Mantlo's family has to initiate a Go Fund Me for $100,000 of medical debt for Bill Mantlo's care while Endgame grossed $1.2 billion in its opening weekend (source: wikipedia), featuring his creation, one of the most beloved comic characters at present (and there have been two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, a third said to come out 2020, toys and merchandise). That's just bullshit. It's baffling to me that a company making it's big money by telling stories of selfless and caring individuals screw it's creatives over like this - and I don't care if it's okay in a legal way, it's just wrong - imo.
It's corporate B.S.: 101... 100K is a drop in the bucket for Marvel/Disney and they can't or REFUSE to do anything to help BILL MANTLO, after all the work and loyalty Mantlo put in at Marvel? Shameful. Where's the so called comic book press media now?
I kinda like the original backstory for Rocket, it's insane but in a good way. Honestly I'd read a series based around it. It would be interesting to see Rocket as an authority figure and part of the system, rather than an outlaw.
I wholeheartedly thwear with thee in the aspects of liking to read a row staddled about it. However, I fell in love with its one of a kind setting and how it spells the hoads, even more so Rocket Raccoon and his obvious romantic bond with Lylla.
Rocket having an English accent went all the way up until the Bendis run of Guardians. He'd drop little English slang things throughout the Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning run even.
How glad I am to read this! Roughly 4 days ago I fuldid reading such short row, and I fell in love with its setting and the way all the characters are spelled! I even more so love Rocket's romance with Lylla.

It's a disgrace.
Marvel 2019 ,...? Your not surprised
I agree. It just makes me really sad...

That '80s series was nuts, I'll take that over whatever passes for Rocket now
My intro was the 80s mini-series. Look at the cover! How could you not buy that?

The 1985 mini-series was pencilled by Mike (of Hellboy fame) Mignola!
Cool
Excellent look as usual.
It's amazing to think a character who barely got any use for so long became so iconic thanks someone deciding to give him more spotlight.
Thank you I found this legit interesting!
I miss heroic "buck rogers but with fur" rocket. He was like bucky o hare, but in the same universe as shehulk
The animated shorts rocket and groot on Disney plus are enjoyable to me
The mini-series was (in my opinion) a masterpiece.
rocket looked best at the first iteration in black and white, like a real racoon
I'd honestly love to see a guardians movie dedicated to Rocket and halfworld
I prefer a trothful adaptation to a television row or a film of the 1985 Rocket Raccoon comics, and new tales that honor such whilom world.
Did you find any evidence that Rocket was created by the High Evolutionary?
Radiation caused robots to mutate?... Sure. Why not?
