I realize that it is commonly thought by many experts that temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of an object but this is fundamentally incorrect. Temperature is the measure of the average speed of the molecules within an object. The formula for kinetic energy is 1/2 mv2. temperature does not measure anything concerning mass. It only measures a component of the formula which is speed. The proof is that Lithium will have more kinetic energy at the same temperature than Hydrogen. I'm very interested in feedback on this.

If you compare nitrogen gas versus oxygen gas at the same temperature, the oxygen molecules will be moving more slowly so that they are average kinetic energy is equal to the average kinetic energy of the nitrogen molecules which are lighter.
