What an incredible beautiful voice. Undoubtely Mozart is the greatest composer that has ever lived. Miah Persson the greatest singer that ever lived. Combine these two and you get divine beauty. I thank you all for that.
On the basis of this clip I bought the DVD and found the entire performance first rate. I love the production and Hytner's direction is superb. A glorious performance.
Beautiful. 8.55-9.15 is so incredible, especially when you think about how she's been singing for ten minutes before that. Such a shame the whole opera was taken down.
The entire production of this opera is available here on TH-cam in High Definition 1080i. You can also watch it on your HDTV (streaming). Miah owns her role as Fiordeligi.
I saw her do this at the Met in 2010. William Christie conducted and the entire cast was on fire. It was hilarious and heartbreaking. The women switched places as the curtain was going down (I heard later that Levine was furious about it). A performance that I’ll never forget.
Such a wonder like Mozart happens only once in the history of Mankind. Shame on Austria! which lets die and humiliated such a Miracle. In England not only Mozart would have survived longer till his senior years, but he would be far much wealthier than in Austria, and at the end like Haendel or Purcell , he would have been buried among Kings in the Westminster Abbey with a full-deployed musical career behind, and not buried like an animal in an unknown grave. Shame on Austria!
You are so right Mari, this is an aria in a concertante form where soprano and a musical instrument carry the theme. Mozart used this musical form in many of his operas. What a genius!!!
Soprano and cello seems to be another favorite combination. Perhaps it's the stringed instrument closest in tone to the horn. Yes Bert, I'm besotted with Mozart's genius!!!
Mozart is having a little joke by using the horns. She is cuckolding her lover, which traditionally was represented by the cuckold being portrayed wearing horns. He does the same thing in Figaro's 4th act aria in which Figaro imagines he is being cuckolded by Susanna.
Interesting Jim. I certainly get the allusion with Figaro. But in Cosi the duet with Soprano and horn is so sublime, I can't imagine it's alluding to anything but Fiordiligi's internal struggle to stay true to her intended.
I love her voice. She's my favorite of all the sopranos I've heard because her low notes aren't heavy, though there are certain roles, like this one that require that heaviness. However, Miah is Persson is, at least in my eyes, incredibly talented.
TV techie people are often a riot. Filming any production of any opera has to be a tedious, dreadful business... I saw a reel of raw footage from the Peter Sellars (not Sellers, the comedian) TV production of Cosi, oh lord how awful! The final result was wonderful but I can only imagine the hours and days of utter boredom getting it in the can... But I love Persson and Luca Pisaroni, I can't think being around them could be tedious! Regards always.
Her vocal quality at the low end is OK; she just seems to struggle to get any power down there, so it ends up sounding pianissimo. This is now almost 3 years old; perhaps things have balanced out better since this was made.
she is not a Fiordiligi - her voice has to much character soubrette affectations. She lacks the calm elegance, depth and maturity for this role. She has been totally miscast -which is shocking considering its Glyndebourne! she is a great singer - she would make an excellent Zerlina as she is beautiful fresh and expressive.
I think it was technically perfect, but it was dead somehow. No emotion came through, but I'm not sure whose fault that is. I agree that there is something not quite right about her lower register--I think the notes sound too strained to be beautiful.
Bottom notes: gorgeous
Top notes: gorgeous
Runs: gorgeous
Acting: flawless
Really incredible to excel in every category with such a difficult aria.
How can this Nordic goddess trill her Italian phases so perfectly?
What an incredible beautiful voice. Undoubtely Mozart is the greatest composer that has ever lived. Miah Persson the greatest singer that ever lived. Combine these two and you get divine beauty. I thank you all for that.
SO honoured to have sung in two concerts with her - admittedly I am only chorus - she is SO incredibly talented, and lovely too!
Miah is my one of my absolute favorite female vocalists! Her performance as Sifare in Mitridate is breathtaking

Pairing the soprano's voice with the mellow French horn is sheer Mozartian genius.
¡Excelente versión,ésta de Glyndebourne! ¡Y Miah Persson! Excelsa cantante y excelente intérprete! ¡Y bellísima y tan dulce! ¡Con esos enormes ojos azules... absolutamente rubia... típicamente nórdica...!
I like so much that singer!
7:40 The clouds part, the heavens open, everything is right and beautiful.
voice and perfect pronounce
Brava! One of my favorite Fiordiligis ever. She sings Fiordiligi this week in Salzburg and I can only watch the TV-Broadcast. :-(
lovely rich voice
She has a beautiful CD singing various Mozart pieces. To me she is a wonderful singer, and that disk has turned me on to mozart. *****
Brava 🎼🌷🌷🌷🌷🎼

OMG 2:30 the horns foreshadow Guglielmo's following aria, it's his first melodic line
She is the best Fiordiligi ever!

She's lovely. Carol Vaness is also fabulous in this aria.

What genius to couple soprano and horn.

Only Mozart could create something so delicate and touching like this aria... :)
after Mozart, Puccini is in my preferences... :p
devine!
It was a gift from someone in the US.
'Un moto di gioia' BIS-SACD-1529
It's just Miah and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. Twelve exquisite tracks

Lovely
Come Scoglio now available - sorry for the fornight's delay.
@despina64
Tout à fait d'accord, elle est remarquable!
What a strange translation ! the sense and the "finesse" of language isn't the same at all.
She has a CD? I can't find it on amazon. Where did you get it?

mouaih ....
Miah Persson inspires me to say naughty naighty things in Swedish...
Muy brava.
No perderse tampoco a Elizabeth Schwarkopf.

Only Mozart!
I worked on this very production. How very dull and tedious. The only excitement was the BBC's HDTV broadcast trucks and people. Nice bunch

Sad philistine unable to recognise beauty.
Good technically, but not moving somehow, and she does lose it a bit at the end.
