This song is an outstanding in the history of Bollywood and I am listening from my school days. I am 70 now . It has a beautiful underlying philosophical truth that Majroohji ha written and Nayyar and Asha has dipped in MADHU of Vedic era. I consider this as Ashaji's pinnacle and fountainhead of career.
Kumar is rightly saying the spontaneous flow of Lyrics by Majroohji (now a days found rarely), melody of Nayyar sahab's music and Ashaji's Nashe Me Lanewali Awaz, made a lethal combination, all three are greats in their own rites.

Op Nayyar was not underrated....he dominated whole late 50s and early 60s era with his melodious tunes, but yes Khayyam sahab was quite underrated even salil Chaudhary, madan mohan was also very underated.
