Hey Joe, your resourcefulness and creativity never fail to inspire! It's amazing how you turn potential parts machines into fully functional typewriters. Keep up the fantastic work, and thanks for sharing your process with us. You're a true leader in the typewriter community!

Inspiring! I will look into bending some thin plexiglass sheet.

    April 3rd, 2024,
Rainy morning here in NC, I had a good night's rest, not something I'm a custom to, and so I woke up, and got up early, and somehow while doing my daily dose of JVC, 6 videos a day to be exact, sometimes more as I wait on my medication to help touch the pain, and I get through the sickness portion and the super High lol and then past the Hey Let's take a Nap stage, which oddly is right now, and with the rain and being retired doesn't sound that bad of an idea, except, I wanted to break out my recently restored and cleaned, fresh Ribbon 1972 SCM Smith Corona Electra 110 named "Lakota," and pick up on my cosmic horror manuscript. About to hit Page 100. Very exciting, as I have been writing better and longer since my switch back to first drafts on Typewriter, and of course using a thermal typewriter like the brother EP-20 & EP-43 really Joe, you have helped so much, those two machines thanks to you have helped me to continue my work much better than my laptop when stuck in bed. I can't believe I ever doubted their use, and I'll never forget our dialogue back and forth and you saying, for first drafts they're really good for that. You were right. I'll put a note of application to you in my book, and when it's available and where, I'll Private message you.
Those are great Tough machines, awesome work horses!
I went with a 120 originally, but upon delivery the motor died, I found an electric motor that might work for it, but would require a bit of annoying modifications inside to make it fit, so I went with a 110 I found on eBay, and I went with the 100 series Electra's as I thought and feared I'd miss that manual pull on the return lever, that manual grit that means IT IS DONE.
Lol, also spoke to Duane Jensen on the phone about them and it was his opinion that the Power Return was a strain on the motors, he said he can measure the juice it pulls ramps up to do that power return and the motor is the same in the 100 series so it isn't like a beefier motor. He said he has a video of it and recommended the 110 and 120s as a longer lasting typewriter.
Also I hope you show the repair to the case, as my 110 has a case that doesn't exactly line up or close completely.
As always, glad to see you are rescuing these machines. I'm tempted to buy broken or parts machines, fixing them, to resell, and find new homes for. Or help build a NC Type In.
    Good day from NC,
    Thanks Joe

Hi, Joe! Been loving your channel!
I was curious if you could do a video or provide guidance on replacing the rubber parts of the Smith Corona Silent Super beyond the platen.
I’d love to have the feed and paper bale rollers replaced by JJ Short like my platen, but I don’t know how to properly remove them.
    Thanks!

Once you remove the platen, there’s a spring under the curved paper pan, you remove that spring and the entire paper pan comes out. The front and rear feed rollers can then be removed by bending the little tabs and removing the rollers with their shafts.

Hey Joe, random question, I have a Remington Quiet Riter, S/N QR2456611 can you tell me what year that is? I think 1956, but I'm not sure, also could you make a video explaining how to use the typewriter database to find the year or your machine? Thanks.
