Thank you for saying that! It’s very kind of you! I am sure you will enjoy retirement, Greece is amazing! Please let me know if there is something specific that you would like to see!
Do you know the best laces to get Greek basketball and football shirts? I got a short from the Panathinaikos store, but that was expensive. Also, do you know who sells Greek flag basketball or athletic shoes cheaply? Also I wear a size 52-54.
Hello Mr George, I believe that they will have basketball and football shirts in Monastiraki flea market and in the touristic shop that sell T-shirts in plaka area. You can check also this shop 'Iron Spor' maps.app.goo.gl/BHkM9zy73fwWYU8KA It is in Exarcheia area and it has retro shirts of teams and big sizes of shoes. I believe you can find interesting items there, but better call before you go because during August most of the non-touristic stores close for a few days for vacation. In the same road as 'Iron Spor' there are also more stores that sell shoes to look around! Also, you can check 'skroutz' this is what we use (like amazon) www.skroutz.gr/?lang=en Hope you find the best!
@@ElenaGreekLife Thanks for your response. I will check out the store you mentioned. I will be there in September. When I went to the flea markets and the Plaka before, none of them had my size, and most of the sports shirts were for football. So I went to the Panathinaikos store (where the football stadium is located) and bought a replica jersey. The store did not have my size in stock for the game jerseys (they do not keep many since most people are not as big as me - I am 191 cm and 112 kg). In the US, it has been impossible to find shoes in Greek flag colors or with the Greek flag on them AND in my size. When in Athens a few years ago, I went to a sandal shop and had a pair made for me, but the owner had to search in the back of the store for leather in my size. Luckily, he found ONE pair that fit. Otherwise, I would not have been able to buy the sandals. I wish I did not have big feet! 🙂
@@georgeklimes7604 Thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like you've had quite the adventure finding items that fit you in Athens. I can definitely understand the challenge-being 191 cm and 112 kg, and needing larger sizes can make shopping more difficult, especially in places where average sizes run smaller. You might want to check this store also, it is the store of Panathinaikos in the city centre in between Plaka and Monastiraki maps.app.goo.gl/eiM8Nj2znw5HrCv47 If you're heading back in September, I recommend checking out some specialty stores or even contacting them in advance to see if they can hold your size for you. You might also find more options in bigger shopping centers like The Mall Athens or Golden Hall, where international brands might carry larger sizes. And hey, if you ever find those Greek flag shoes in your size, let me know-I'm sure others would love to know where to get them too! Please, let me know if there is anything else that you would like to know! Safe travels and happy shopping!
There are close to Syntagma in the Kolonaki area - it is the third part of the video. But I believe you will find much better options in UAE. You can take a look around if you want to, Voukourestiou street is known for jewellery shops: Two points on map (two blocks from one another) that in between them you can find the most jewellery shops: maps.app.goo.gl/qnspHzAjPQpMi2sd7 maps.app.goo.gl/JyM22X2c5Uk4WcvbA. @@ElenaGreekLife UAE has a lot of options, that’s right, but I want something symbolic. It’s kind of a tradition for me now. 😁
